Re: MLB The Show 18 The Little Things

Okay so this is something I only noticed from my time working on a grounds crew and it is extremely minor but it makes me happy.

When it rains, like actually rains, the infield turface changes consistency. Not only does it change color and gets darker, but spots where it isn't spread well clump up when wet and become darker than others. It almost sparkles with the water it is holding.

Maybe I'm imagining this bit, but after the 3rd and 6th inning it "resets" and becomes lighter, as it would if a grounds crew applied turface between innings when they dragged. Clumps go away for the most part.

And lastly, the turface for a midday July game in Atlanta is much more dried and washed out than an April night game in Denver. Turface holds water, but it also dries out.

Now, all we need are cutaway shots of the grounds crew dragging and pulling out the tarp before rain delays and we will be in business on my little corner of the baseball world
And may thy spirit live in us, Forever LSU

I noticed this as well but I seriously thought it was my imagination.

Glad to see that someone else noticed it as well.

This may not be new, but it's new to me! I've been using a beat up controller for the past few years and the little speaker in the controller hasn't worked in forever. I got a new one last month and now, at times when I am batting on the road, a heckler will scream out "Swing!" just as the pitch approaches. It's really frustrating when I end up swinging at a pitch out of the zone! I can only imagine how real players feel about hecklers.
They use white-out now that rolls out of a dispenser and is dry instantly...these youngsters don't knkw about that wet white-out with the brush attached to the bottle top lol...brings back memories [emoji23]

Playing at citi field they give a shout-out to the 7 Line Army on the right center field bleachers, they zoomed in on them pretty cool . Matt talks about how the 7 Line Army also supports the Mets on the road as well .

Not sure how much of this was in past games but like how they acknowledge a player playing his first game in the majors. Had a little scene before the game then a few commentary lines during his at bat. Besides when a player got a first hit, hr ect. I don't recall much else being mentioned about rookies.

Started carlos tocci in game 2 of my rangers franchise and hit 3/3 with a rbi

Here's a pretty good shot of the ball going off of the bag.... worked in my favor on that AB and squeezed a double out of it. Ball physics are awesome this year.

Rain delays?! Awesome! I didn’t play ‘17 so I dunno if they were in then. But I just had my first one today. Which was BS since it was in the 8th, haha. It robbed me of a nice 2-0 shutout with Nola in Atlanta. I still won though, as I already had my setup and closer warmed up.

Yeah, I could’ve stayed with him, but who knows what could happen during a 45 minute delay. 😝

I saw a new (to me) cutscene a bit ago. I was finishing a cig so I just let the game idle for a few. I’m using the Phils in franchise for context here; Herrera sets the glove down like a football, Hoskins kneels as the goal, and Altherr gets Charlie Brown’d and falls on his ***. Odubel goes to help him up and does the hair slick back instead. I thought that was pretty funny.

De rosa talks about the new netting this year protecting the fans from line drives .I thought this was pretty cool. I don’t see it tho in the game they should patch it

I really have to take a second to appreciate the work of the devs with the inclusion of the emotions. I love what they have done in this area. It brings the game to life. I just wish the facial grimaces that the player models make when viewing the main menu customization. It freaks me out to see that face they make.

Bravo to the commentary also. I really like what I've heard this year from Matty V and talking about Cameron Maybin for a few seconds. They don't interrupt the commentary either unless it's a huge play that is happening

Is anybody elses number being randomly changed in RTTS? Ive gone from 9 to 11 to 13 in three games once. My number has changed from 4 to 5, from 6, to 4, from 8 to 12, etc. Im not even changing teams or anything. Is anyone else bothered by this or am i the only one?

This happens when a player on the team has the same number you do, but has a higher overall rating. The player with the higher rating get their preferred number. It's annoying, for sure.

that really shouldnt matter. thats honestly the most unrealistic thing the show could have done. i get it when you start off with a team but after tht it should be final.
