So I opened MLB 17 and I already had a CF and like 24,000 training points. I upgraded him to an 82. Will bring him into 18. Thought I’d use my training points My 4 year vet MVP Gold Glove SS is already in 18. To me SS and 2B May seem the same, but you don’t turn many DP put outs as a SS. 2B is a bit different experience. So I can get the full MLB 18 experience. I’m recreating my LF/2B Brennan Bowser. He spent most of his MLB career in LF, but moved to 2B after Altuve went to FA. A stud LF was in AAA. He started in the minors AT SS, but moved to LF so I could get called up and avoid being a DH. Should I create him as a LF and go for realism or a 2B?

Those types of quirks don't do anything other than let you know the player has a high rating in something. There are quirks in the game that actually affect things in the game, but I don't think you can get them in RTTS - they're pre-assigned to specific players.

Perks are on the screen that looks like this, and they are what I described in the post above:

Sorry for confusing you! The fact that the perk and quirk icons are styled the same is confusing enough in itself
Ohh I see! Thanks for the help. I noticed while playing in some double-a games that opposing players have some quirks, so I'm curious to see if I gain a lot of contact or power or something if I'll gain a bomber icon or something alike? Thanks for the info

I have three different players I bought over from 17, I used Solid option on one 1st Baseman and Defensive cannon on the other two at LF. So far I like the Defensive cannon best I have the most HR's with this archetype. Personal preference. He is a 82 right now at LF, time for plenty of growth at only 20 years old.

So just wondering I think I heard this year you don't get like points you can use to upgrade what ever skills you want to upgrade. So like how do you get better at different skills?

It's not only hurting the base running but also the fielding. A base runner should start running and see where the ball is going before checking the 3b coach and I'm stuck either breaking the emursion by watching hit from the overhead broadcast cam or completely relying on the 3b coach. When I'm in the field at 3b and a ball gets hit somewhere else besides third I can't see the play until I run to cover the bag for no reason and by the time I get there and turn towards the play the ball is being thrown in after the out.

I don't understand the point of the camera changes at all. They were fine before and now it's just broken. They made it easier to look around before the pitch but made it impossible to see the play after the pitch. Why?!?
Hold down R1 to keep your eye on the ball when put in play. L2 only gives a broadcast view.

Is anyone who plays the outfield noticing a lot of triples on balls into the gap even if the batter isn't super speedy? I'm wondering if I should lower the baserunning speed slider or if it's my players speed getting to the ball that's the problem.

It's more now by how you play. I love the new system. It should have been this way years ago. So much more rewarding.

It is much more rewarding and you could actually really go into a slump and not be too worried that your player isn't getting his points. I find the game is so much easier to take pitches this year, I guess because of the pitch speed but I'm loving it.

My CF that was moved to LF in double a is now a 70 overall because my fielding is way up which unfortunately will see me get called up earlier I think. I hope not because I have no issue with playing in the minors and earning my way up by good play and skills for my player.

I chose the solid option archetype for my player and I have found it very enjoyable. Fast enough with some equipment to get around the bases and good enough hitting and fielding to be an all star and have a real career. I'm also really enjoying the ability to draw more walks this year. I find the pitchers if they are low rated pitch like they are. It's a really nice change that some guy who is a 65 overall in triple a with a good fast ball is dominant against my team.

I too made a CF. I have a Kenny Lofton (i don't remember the type atm) archtype. I'm having so much fun with it. I love when I screw up a at bat and get penalized for it. As well when I steal a bag (i try to only steal in realistic situations) or get a clutch hit and get rewarded.

I like that you can raise your cap through training. It's all just so much more realistic to me.

I haven't been moved yet, but I'm only through May with the Marlins (who drafted me. ANOTHER thing I love not having the choice where to play). I normally would have been bored with rtts by now and had 3 other players created. Not this year. The most enjoyable so far.

Man, this is frustrating but yet incredibly interesting (depending on how you look at it I guess). In my 6th start at AA with my pitcher - was really dealing and got through the 8th inning with a no-hitter in tact, we were leading at home 2-0. But, I was out of energy. So, I got pulled out! Didn't get to try to finish it in the 9th! Instead, the relief pitcher ended up finishing it out and did not allow a hit - so it was a combined no-hitter. I ended up with 95 pitches for the game. It sucks that I didn't get to finish it, yet makes a lot of sense for AA. If you've got a young player who looks to be done - you don't want him going out and getting hurt. I feel like I would have just been given the chance to finish it out in previous MLB The Show versions - though that might not be best for the player long term. Still sucks that I didn't get to try and finish it out lol, but interesting logic applied here.

And of course, what happens right after that? I get moved to the bullpen to try out being a long reliever. Now THAT logic makes no sense. I'm 6-0 in 6 starts with 39.0 IP, 13 H and 65 K. (pitching on Veteran - so yes, I'll have to bump it up, haven't touched the sliders yet - just messing around with an RTTS guy for a while to try it out before I get serious). No manager in their right mind, or organization for that matter, would move a pitcher who's throwing like that to the bullpen. That's just silly. I get they're trying to push a story and make it harder to get to the MLB, but the logic should be better than that. Still loving the game, that's just an annoying thing that takes the immersion out a little bit.

And even better - I was called on to close out a game - they very next game! So, I was out of energy after throwing 8 innings of no-hit ball - was taken out and not allowed to try and finish off the no-hitter - then moved to the bullpen and called in the next game to get the save. LOL. I was tired before I even threw the first pitch. Still got the 3 outs and the save, but just kind of funny how this logic all came together like this. Oh well. Keeps it interesting I suppose, just not as realistic as I would like (then again, me dominating like this isn't that realistic either - oh well).

EDIT: Just noticed that my overall dropped 2 points as well. Huh? My attributes are still going up, so again, not sure why my overall would drop like that (and i'm not talking about the Adjusted Overall - which is at 64 right now because I am exceeding expectations).
