i am personally using armors sliders, not the visual stuff and play has been very good for me in games. I use dynamic difficulty also. I get plenty of walks or balls thrown in AA and AAA. they would all be walks if i stopped swinging at everything.

Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread
I‘ve created a Center Fielder Ball Hawk and have been drafted by the Padres organisation. A few weeks into the season the usual „we would like to play you in a different position“ scenario occured and they have moved me to 2B. At the time you usually get switched back to your previous position they said I‘d have better chances to be called up at 2B so I agreed as I like playing both positions.
Is there anyone who got switched back later on in their career?Comment

I am beginning to think it might be best to say "No" to the swaps and just take our chances. I guess it will all depend on the depth of the positions for the organization you play for and how desperate you are to make it to the Show. I have several RTTS save files going right now. One of my RTTS players a 2B is someone I am taking my time with playing full games with the understanding that this guy might take several real world years to make it and I am okay with this because for me it is about the journey through the minors. But a very similar player that I only started last Sunday night and he is my accelerated player where I only play his plate appearances, play his base running and of course play his fielding opportunities. He started off at SS, and last night after the 30th game of the season he was asked to swap to 3B. In the real world I think 3B is awesome, some of the best most talented defenders in the game are 3B. But I have since played a few games with him at 3B and honestly I do not like playing this position in the game. This accelerated player was created more for BP and created as kind of a scout to give me an ideal of what is to come down to road for my main 2B character. Now if my main 2B is asked to play SS, I will do it. But if he is asked to play any other position I am inclined to decline, get benched for a little while and take my chances that it won't hurt me in the long run.
As far as my pitchers are concerned (I have two of them but one came over from MLB 17 already in AAA) and I don't like the idea of being swapped to a reliever and thus being forced to change archetypes. I want my pitchers to hit. That is why they were both created in MLB 17 to ensure they belonged to a NL team and this is also why I will refuse any position changes to them. I will take my chances. I am curious to see what it will be like to play in the Show with these RTTS characters after they slog their way through the minors. But I am also having fun playing with them in the minors. I am in no rush. I am willing to take my chances and refusing these positions swaps and will show up at the table with my best poker face. Bench me ... LOL ... I'll just fast forward to the next appearance.Comment

As far as position change, i try to always agree with it because if i was a 25th round pick, i would pretty much agree to anything that they wanted me to doLast edited by ingey1968; 04-12-2018, 09:37 AM.Comment

Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread
There are a couple of good YouTubers out there. Beanie is one, and the other one I can't remember his full YouTube name, but it is along the line of Cardinal5 and both guys have created very informative videos which show which attribute category types actually matter for game play (ie: Cardinal5 showed how changing the attributes in the hitters Contact versus Pitchers H/9 affected PCI sizes). Very informative stuff for those who weren't quite aware of this sort of thing (which was me prior to watching their tutorials). So yeah increase your CAPs whenever possible, but in the right skill categories that have the most affect on game play versus simulation.Comment

Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread
This happened to me and i loved it. I changed archetypes to a hitting style but kept my 90 speed being the one rating that cant go down in gameplay. Im in my 4th season and still have that 90 speed that ball hawk starts with. The only downside is your starting hitting ratings are crap so takes a while to build them up but i didnt mind

Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread
Yeah. I wound up going back to RTTS a few days later and asked for a trade; I imagined my guy felt absolutely insulted, so it seemed fitting/realistic. I honestly don’t like the trade system in RTTS, even though it’s realistic and mirrors real life. I’d want to go somewhere that hasn’t won their first Series, yet, like Colorado or Tampa, but it’ll be awhile before I’m moved anywhere.Comment

Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread
In this thread from theshownation.com, people have been put back to their primary positions, but then asked again later to swap a 2nd time and told it would be permanent that time.

Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread
This isn't a bad way to do it, I have been increasing attributes and then if I am getting close to a cap and find it in my training session I increase the cap that time if I don't see and I'm close to a cap I look for other attributes to increase until I get a cap one.Comment
