I just started a new save with a Second basemen and played in central region and got drafted by the Cleveland Indians. I should also say i am using OSFM 1.5 rosters, not sure if that matters

Never thought I'd say this but, the hitting feels even more broken than last year, especially in road to the show. Can't tell you the number of times I've had the bases loaded and the pitcher throws a meatball right down the middle, only to have it get popped up or end in a weak grounder to shortstop even with good timing. I know the first suggestion is to fix my approach but let me tell you my stats before that and see if that changes your mind:

9.4% walk rate, 13.7% strikeout rate, .223 batting average

So either I'm the unluckiest player in MLB history or something is horrifically wrong with this game. It honestly feels like the outcome of my at-bats are decided before I even take a swing. Good thing the store I bought it from has good refund policy, I'm about done with this game, probably won't buy it next year either unless they have an entirely new hitting engine.

Good points but it's not the games fault. Baseball is hard and it's hard to hit and seems even more realistic to me this year. Look in the mirror and say do I need to go to the batting cage and practice more, lower my expectations, try a different level till you feel comfortable. Be more patient at the plate. There are many variables to hitting. I am having a blast even though my average is a little lower it's starting to come around. JHMO

Little bit more background information for you:

Last year I was a .283 hitter with a .355 OBP, the year before was .279 and .346. Meanwhile I just finished up a nice little 0-for-32 streak in MLB 18 despite walking 9 times with TWO STRIKEOUTS. Trust me, if you were seeing the results I am getting you'd feel like the hitting was trash too. It's unfortunate because I've never once in my 13 years of playing games had to have a game fully refunded, even when I purchased awful games like Aliens: Colonial Marines and CoD WWII. It's sad because I really do enjoy many of the changes they made in this year's RTTS, too bad it's all undermined by a broken hitting system that makes less sense than a flat earth theory. At first I thought it was me, so I tried changing up my timing, getting more aggressive in the count, even tried using the power swing (which I never touch) and still got the same results.

So in short, the difficulty moves with you and then balances out at the upper levels. People are encouraged to play on higher, if they and like even lower levels, if that is their choice.

            I personally like dynamic difficulty.
I'm a bit annoyed. Why are the Mets in my RTTS starting a relief pitcher with 27 stamina and making me (a starting pitcher) come in for relief? I understand he has a 79 and I have a 77 in regular overall not adjusted overall. (With the equipment boosts I'm actually an 86 and adjusted overall I'm an 88) but logically it doesn't make sense they get 2-3 innings out of him and call me in for 3-5.

Also, I recreated my other RTTS characters and added them to the rosters of the teams they are on in my separate RTTS saves, but 2 of the teams are "starting" the 99 overall character and them immediately taking them out of the game. (For instance, one character is a 99 overall SS on Arizona he as 115 games but has 50 at bats/60 plate appearances and the player they're playing instead is a 77)

We should make a collective log of positions, birthplace/regions(and archetypes?) and the team you’re drafted to and see if anything lines up.
i am running some test saves to test this with every position, every type of player and every location. will post my findings when im done although a part of me feels its random.

Have a Powerhouse RF on the Pirates who hit .370 with 40 homers and 110 RBIs for the season on dynamic difficulty. No call up.
Have a Plain Filthy SP on the Braves who has averaged starts of 6 innings, 1-2 hits/walks, 13-15 K's, and an ERA under 1 on rookie for the last season and a half. No call up.

There are also no options to train during the offseason at all. Even if those are supposed to show up in the bigs, that is a tragically terrible design flaw.

                1. Ball hawk lf for the Astros, called up to the big club on July 1st. No injuries or trades.. Was very odd.

                2. My unadjusted overall was 66.

                3. I was hitting .331/.395/.546 5hr 35rbi and 25sb.

I also had a "Mr Reliable" 3b for the Braves that made AAA in mid July year one and was starting for the Braves start of year 2.

I am just the opposite. I have two saves going. one is a Lf (mr reliable or whatever its called) and a 2b that was turned into a 3b by the organization.

The LF is on year four, averaging around .350 per year and still hasnt sniffed the majors and my current 3b save, hitting .420 and still no move to AAA(mid season)

It's only been 2 weeks yet I feel like I have no reason to play RTTS anymore.

After my second gear of AAA ball where my stats were through the roof I am stuck in AAA because the player ahead of me is rated in 89. My player is rated an 80 I hit over .350 and had 135 REI yet I did not even get an invite to spring training. I don't know where to go with this and I'm not creating another character only to have this happen again. I personally played over 200 games and I feel it's been wasted.

I think partly that Sony somehow I forgot that this is a game and it supposed to be fun. I appreciate the simulation aspect of it but let's be fair... return to the show is a fantasy mode where we get to play out our fantasy of becoming a major leaguer. Being stuck in the minors is just not fun.

For those wondering I am a short stop playing for the Detroit Tigers. I was drafted by the Seattle Mariners but for some reason after an amazing year one where I hit close to .390 they traded me to the Tigers. My archetype is mr. reliable.

One more thing... To add insult to injury a lesser player on the AAA Squad was promoted to The Bigs and I was not. That hurts.

Had an odd occurrence w/ my knuckleball pitcher. I was moved to the closer role and was inserted in the 12th inning of a 10-10 tie. I ended up throwing 100 pitches in relief over 9 innings, I give up a go-ahead home run in the top of the 22nd and finished the inning b/c why not. The cut scene shows my team walking off the field w/ the win after a walk-off Grand Slam.

Not sure if I'm all that happy with where my Closer is at. I'm stuck in a Mr Fix it role, every time our SP makes a mess or a reliever makes a mess then I come in for 1 innings to make sure they don't score and the runners are left stranded, it's fun kinda cause I am their go to but I want to get some saves against my name so it is a case of kinda liking it cause I am the door slammer but I am not getting used in my role.

Well I had the talk with my agent thing and said I'm unhappy and I want to be a starter and he went blah blah and then I said well get me traded and then he went blah blah so I said fine, but then I got 2 saves as the closer then it went back to being stuck in reliever... not fun at all, at this point for a new comer or some one that just wants to be a star on their team I would recommend not buying and staying with last years edition. I will keep going for a while longer but it is turning into a grind slowly.

I am starting to get really frustrate with this mode. I thought MLB 18 RTTS would be cool, I thought MLB 18 RTTS would be more realistic. But when you lose contact points almost every time you fail to get on base, how can you possibly get ahead when we fail 7-8 times out of every 10 attempts.

Some times it is my fault. I am trying to learn to become a more patient hitter to work the counts and increase my OBP. Unfortunately lately I have been finding myself behind in the counts more often than not because of this. So yes sometimes when I have two strikes against me I do swing at pitches outside of the strike zone or swing at pitches that are not smack down the middle of the plate. Penalize me when I swing for pitches out of the strike zone, sure. Or penalize me if I grind into a double play when I should have just taken the strike out. But why does the game constantly penalize me when the pitcher paints a corner, I do make contact but contact that results in an out. It's Catch-22. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

On top of that, I want to take batting practice to develop me abilities. But I don't need practice with fastballs. I need practice with the off speed pitches and recognizing when they are or are not in the strike zone. Yet the game only ever throws fastballs at me in the RTTS BP sessions.

I don't find gaining contact or power difficult. If you still get good contact on the ball it normally doesn't give you negative points, even if it results in an out. I fly out to the OF all the time without getting any negative points because the contact on the ball wasn't bad, it just didn't go my way.

The attribute that seems most unbalanced is batting clutch. You can get a good line drive hit and the LF makes a diving catch and you end up with double negative batting clutch because there was a guy on 2nd base. I've progressed +15 in contact and +7-10 in power categories but my batting clutch has gone up 1, and that might have been from a training session.

Oh and the fact that you face way more right handers than left handers. My left hand contact and power are way behind my rights. Not because i'm bad vs lefties at all, it's just because you rarely face lefties in comparison. Doesn't make a lot of sense

I have a huge, huge issue with the progression this year, especially with the importing of a player from 17.

Not a huge fan of grinding in sports games (NBA 2K wore my patience thin) so I made a Catcher in ‘17 and dropped a few bucks on him to get a good OVR. Got drafted by my favorite team, LAD, so I was looking forward to it.

That is, until I found out that I couldn’t work on my contact and power, which was in the mid 80s by the time I was called up. I chose the Field General archetype and, I guess because of the caps, I can’t work on my hitting. So I’ve watched my attributes steadily decline from 85s into the 70s. Very, very frustrating piece to an otherwise fun game mode.
