Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

We have now lost 4 straight and our lead over the Cubs has dropped to just 3 games with about 35 games left to play. We lost 3 of 4 to the last place Reds and just lost the series opener to the Marlins, who are leading a very weak NL East (Marlins are one game above .500 leading the division)

Our bullpen has completely imploded the last two games. Alex Reyes got off to a rough start giving up 6 runs in 5 innings, but managed to get thru 7 as we needed him to eat innings due to limited bullpen arms. But our bullpen still struggled as they gave up 3 runs on 8 hits in 2 innings, and this after we came back to make the game 6-5 heading to the 8th.

Against the Marlins, Wacha was phenomenal, pitching 6 strong innings allowing one run on 3 hits. He was pulled when his turn to bat came up because of the situation and because he was at 91 pitches at this point. When the bullpen comes out in the 7th its Sam Freeman working against Dee Gordon, Christian Yelich and Jordan Rodriguez, all lefties who he gets out after Gordon walked but was doubled up when Yelich hit a screaming shot that DeJong snagged and started the double play. Rodriguez popped out swinging at a bad pitch. In the 8th we bring in Osuna who retires the side on 10 pitches, striking out the side including Giancarlo Stanton. In the 9th, we get Rosenthal who proceeds to give up a solo homer to Nick Castellanos thus putting us down 2-1. We get out of the jam to keep the score 2-1, but our stagnant offense was retired one, two, three to end the game.

I really don't know what button to press to turn this around as we are playing poorly since the break. I think about getting Greg Holland to help the pen, then I think about making roster moves to help the offense, then this, then that, but nothing seems to be the "right" button. We have the talent to win this division, win the Pennant, and the World Series. But we are playing as though we aren't worthy of the postseason right now. We keep finding ways to lose a game whether it be pitching, hitting, or defense.

I know injuries are hurting us now, but we still should be playing better than .500 ball since the break, which at this point we are not.

    Frustrating.

Hey guys so this gonna be long but idk felt like writing this. So I'm in year 2 of my yankee franchise. I play every game on HOF and HOF. So year 1 we won the WS against the Dodgers going 129-33. Judge had 64 Hrs Stanton had 61 Sanchez had 58 followed by Didi, Wilmer Flores (who we got at deadline) who had 31 and others. In the offseason we made a few signings and trades.
      We added
      Cesar Hernandez-
      Jarlin Garcia-
      Aviscial Garcia-
      wilmer flores
      chris taylor-
      josh hader
and more. Were now in year 2 and I've suddenly had an itch to play again. Currently we are 5-2 on the year. We've only played Boston who is reloaded, and Baltimore who is stuck in no mans land. So far team has been playing very well, as we just one game 1 of the series against the O's. Stanton and Judge are off to hot starts as well as is Sevy and the rest of the rotation.

2018 White Sox fell to 5th Place in AL Central at 52-56 through July, now 8.0 Games behind 1st place Cleveland.

Offense is now the ranked 9th in Avg, 7th in Homers and 14th in Runs scored.

Jose Abreu has been most of the offense, while in the race for the Triple Crown batting .329, 36 HR's and 88 RBI's, 1st in Avg and 2nd in HR's and RBI's.

Charlie Tilson continues to hit out of the lead-off spot with a .295 avg.

Matt Davidson is adding some power with 21 Homers but struggling to make consistent contact hitting .221

Pitching is just about the worst in the league. 28th in ERA and Strikeouts, 29th in Homers allowed.

Hector Santiago and Reynaldo Lopez leading the rotation with 3.62 ERA's.

Only All-Stars were Jose Abreu and Nate Jones.

Only move we did at the end of the month was signing Scott Kazmir to have a veteran to try to shore up the 5th spot in rotation just a bit with all the in house options struggling to get outs.

One more series later the Yankees are back on the right track.....maybe? It wasn't the most convincing 2 out of 3 series win but we will take it. May have took till April 25th but that's our second series win of 2019.

In game 1 @ Toronto we won 7-4 as we jumped on Reid Foley as we should for 5 runs.

Game 2, we lost 6-4. We were leading 4-1 in the 6th then everything fell apart. A 5 run inning including a Grichuk grand slam powered the Jays to a victory.

In game 3, we took the field with a must win attitude. Things were looking bad down 5 headed to the 8th after the Yankee offense was completely shut down for 6 innings by Aaron Sanchez who held us to 2 hits. We managed to score 4 off Loup to cut it to 1.

Headed to the 9th Sir Didi saved the day blasting a solo shot off of Osuna to force extras. Chapman held off the top of the lineup in the 9th as we came to bat. We faced Tyler Clippard in the 10th. Nelson Cruz went deep for a 2 run shot to give us the lead. If that wasn't enough, Didi stepped up to the plate and did it again! Another solo shot! Kahnle came in and wrapped it up, Yankees win 8-5.

Andujar's stats since taking over for Abreu:
          6 hits
          1 RBI
          2 walks
Experimented with Andujar leading off in game 3 and he had 3 hits. Interesting. Small sample size of 3 games but needless to say, Jose Abreu has not been missed so far.

On a side note maybe getting beat on a bit by KC wasn't such a bad thing. Apparently we must have gave them a jolt and morale and confidence boost as they just marched into Fenway and did the same to Boston taking 2 of three.

We are now just 5 games behind Boston for 1st place. Next up, 3 vs Baltimore at Camden Yards. Once again we miss Chance Adams and don't get to face him. Unfortunate.

Should finish up the 2018 regular season by the weekend. I'll be posting a big update with my season stats and a regular season recap.

Last game I clinched home field advantage through the playoffs and I have six games left. I'll probably be giving my starters very short, 50-60 pitch outings and possibly starting a prospect or two to make sure I avoid late injuries before entering the playoffs.

            Currently sitting at 103-53.

              2018 Oakland A’s Fantasy Franchise

May 22: The East Coast trip was a Great Success(Borat voice)! After Charlie Morton lost a heartbreaker in the first game of the trip vs MadBum and the Yanks(1-0 loss on a 2-out 9th inning walkoff hit), the A’s caught fire and won the final 9 games of the road trip for our longest winning streak of the season so far!! We are currently sitting at a MLB best 32-15 with a 6.5 game lead over the Angels who have cooled off.

Pitching was brilliant allowing 2 runs or less in 7 of the 10 games on the trip, including 3 CG SHO(Duffy, Kopech, Ohtani). We finished the trip sweeping 4 games in Toronto outscoring the Jays 36-6 in the series! Putting the league on notice that we are the team to beat.

Offensively we keep bashing HR at a freakish pace. Krush Davis is leading the charge with 25, followed by Bellinger(22) and Harper(20). Only 1 TEAM in the league has hit more HR than those 3 have, which is pretty ridiculous.

Now the A’s come back home to Cali for a 10 game Homestand vs SEA, ARI and finishing with a 4 game set vs the Rays which brings us exactly to the last day of May. Let’s see how many games we can get this winning streak too!!

Entering the final day of the 2018 regular season, the American League is set but much like real life, there are still many scenarios and possible game 163's at stake.

The Red Sox have secured home field advantage through the ALCS, winning the AL East. The Yankees have the second-best record in the AL but will be facing the Minnesota Twins in the American League Wild Card Game. The Al Central champs Cleveland Indians will have home field advantage when they take on the defending World Series champions Houston Astros, who won the AL West.

The Cubs have the best record in baseball with 109 wins entering the last day and will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. However, who they will face in the NLDS is yet to be determined as both the Milwaukee Brewers and Colorado Rockies have identical 89-72 records. The Dodgers and the Diamondbacks have both secured a spot in the playoffs but one will be the AL West winner while the other will host the Wild Card Game, as they are tied for first place in their division with 97-64 records. The winner of that division will host the NL East champs, Philadelphia Phillies.

                Should be interesting.

I'm only two games in but I'm enjoying spring training a lot more than I thought I would. My rotation and starting lineups are set but all bullpen spots except 8th and 9th inning are up for grabs so I'm simming the first three innings and bringing in the backups and relievers to finish out the game. Since I plan on pitching every inning with my relievers I'm going to let it be a true competition and whoever has the best spring will make the major league roster, I'm not going to let ratings be a factor

We snapped a 6 game losing streak in Pittsburgh as we swept the Pirates over the weekend to get back on track. We still lead the Central by 3 games over the Cubs.

Our bullpen still continues to struggle, but I have decided against making a move as we have just 2 days left in August. Memphis won't be going to the postseason so we'll have extra arms here in about 6 days when their season ends. Until then we'll try to hang on and get thru the rough patch. Jordan Walden is having the worst time right now as he has now gone 4 straight appearances of allowing at least one run.

At the plate we are hitting the ball pretty well outside of Randal Grichuk who is in a major slump. So much so, that the thought of leaving him off the post season roster has crossed my mind. Granted he has about 30 games to find his swing, but damn its been bad.

Next up is a pivotal 3 game series against the Cubs in Chicago. Sweep, we are up 6, get swept we are tied.
