Jack Flaherty to 60 Day DL...may be done for the season

For the 3rd time this season, Jack Flaherty is heading to the DL with arm/shoulder issues. This time, he's been diagnosed as having a shoulder tear that will land him on the 60 Day DL and could quite possibly be the end of his 2021 season. Flaherty has served two previous stints on the 10 Day DL with shoulder/arm issues already this year.

Flaherty came into the 2021 season as the #3 man in the rotation behind Michael Wacha and Carlos Martinez. Flaherty had an exceptional 2020 season where he propelled himself into the #3 spot and was thought to quite possibly be the the Ace of the rotation in the not so distant future. But with arm/shoulder injuries this year, Flaherty has struggled to a 2-2 record with a 4+ ERA and not striking out hitters at nearly the rate he did in 2020.

With Flaherty hitting the DL, the Cardinals could quite possibly go look at the market for a rotation piece. They could try to rely on Junior Fernandez, Luke Weaver (DL), Miles Mikolas (DL), or even Jose Quintana, to fulfill the vacant spot.

Cardinals sign Dexter Fowler to one year deal

The Cardinals have again added veteran leadership to the clubhouse with the signing of Dexter Fowler. The Cardinals and Fowler agreed to a one year, minor league deal. Fowler will be on the active 25 man roster until the All-Star break at least as he fills in for the injured Kike Hernandez. The Cardinals have plenty of depth in the farm system, but the guys on the cusp are all left handed and the Cardinals wanted a non-left handed hitter to fill in for Kike until he returns from the DL due to a strained finger.

Fowler played last year for the Phillies hitting .293 with 8 homers and 23 RBI in 93 games.

CB, who is managing your Red Birds? If not Matheny, what is he up to? Did him and Bud reunite in new clubhouse for them to bully?

Mike Matheny is still my manager. Derek Lilliquist is still our pitching coach, and Paul Molitor is our hitting coach.

Well....the addition of Dexter Fowler was short lived. He tore his Achilles in his first game and is done for the year.

The White Sox begin the 2020 season 21-11 through April leading the AL Central by just 1 game over Cleveland.

Offensively being led by Eloy Jimenez's .348 average and Jose Abreu's 10 homers, tied for AL lead, and the AL leading 32 RBI's. As a team the Sox are batting .263, good for 8th in baseball, tied for 6th in HR's with 36 and 5th in runs scored with 141.

Pitching is 4th in the MLB as a team with a 2.91 ERA and tied for 5th in runs allowed with 105. Closer Nate Jones has been lights out in April tied for the league lead in saves with 13 and has yet to give up a run.

I think Eric Thames has surpassed Jed Lowrie in MLB lore for me.

Back on MLB 12, Lowrie was my big trade acquisition. He was a stud for me, especially in the playoffs.

At the end of May in my current dynasty, I traded for Thames. I acquired him to be a late-inning bat off the bench; he's now my starting left-fielder. In 21 games for me, he's hit 26-59 (.441) with 12 HRs and 24 RBIs. He's been an absolute beast.

And in the next game, Thames goes 3-4 with two homers (including a grand slam) and five RBIs. And he just missed a second slam when he pulled it foul. I love hitting with him.

We're 53-28 at the halfway point. The Nats are 3.5 back and the Mets have slipped to 10 back. Freeman and Thames are tied for the league lead in homers with 26.

Reds and Cubs are tied for first in a jumbled Central. Pirates are last, but just five back. Dodgers lead the West with the Giants five back. Nats and Giants hold down the WC spots.

In the AL, the Red Sox, Indians and Astros hold down commanding leads. Astros started slow, but have heated up while the Mariners have cooled off. The Blue Jays hold down the top WC spot with the Yankees, Twins, Mariners and Angels battling for the second spot.

It's so much fun when you find a player that you lock-in with. Jay Bruce is that guy for me. His swing just seems to mesh well with my timing and consistently produces positive results.

That's me this year with Carlos Santana. In mid-August playing every game and he is hitting over .300 with 41 homers and 102 RBI. Been a stud. Whole team has been incredible for me but he stands out.

Somehow Michael Conforto beat out Thames for player of the month. I think DJ bribed someone.

For me, Edwin Encarnacion has been that dude. Nearing end of Sept in year 2, the ageless wonder has 57 HRs and 121 RBI and is leading the MVP race. Feel like it will be a bomb every time I hit with him.

If he retires, I’ll probably try to do some real life transactions and bring back my boy, Santana for year 3 of my franchise. I hated to see him go in real life and on the virtual diamond but he might be in an Indians uniform in my 2020 Tribe franchise lol

So the Yankees offered me a trade:

                              George Springer

                              For

                              Corey Ray
                              John Brebbia
Harrison Murdock (a drafted 3B who can play SS and 2B. High potential)

I’m not going to lie, despite the fact I dumped him earlier, I’m kicking this around lol.

We traded Piscotty and we could move Pham who is struggling at the moment and is a free agent at the end of the season.

Corey Ray is stuck in Memphis as Juan fabregas will be our everyday left fielder going forward as he’s killing it. We could move Ray to right but his arm doesn’t translate well there.

John brebbia is expendable as we were thinking of moving him to Memphis due to crowded bullpen. He’s struggled the last 6 weeks and lost his setup role to Roberto Osuna. With Adam Cimber pitching well, plus we still have arms in the minors, losing brebbia not that big of a deal.

I’m honestly struggling with what to do lol

                              Damn Yankees lol

Huge 3-game sweep of the Nationals in D.C. puts some distance between the NL East rivals, as the New York Mets now own a 5.5-game division lead with the All-Star Game just three days away.
