How long does it take you guys who play a full season? I sim as well as play but I feel like it would be so much more rewarding knowing all the stats for your team are your efforts?

typically I prefer to try and keep up with the real-life schedule day by day outside life gets in the way of that so I'd say 6 to 8 months

Is it worth it? I’m seriously considering playing every game so I get so invested in my franchise that I don’t want to start a new one and I can carry it over and I would feel so rewarded knowing every win was hard earned and every loss was in my own hands.

I vary my sim schedule based on how I like my team, so some years may take a few weeks to get through, some years take a few months. My current franchise is a carry-over from 17 and I'm about to start the 2029 playoffs. I've had maybe 4 seasons where I've only played maybe 15-20 games, but I usually play around 40-50 a season.

Just won a game 2-0, despite having just one base hit, which was a 2-run HR. Steven Matz pitched a complete game shutout to complete the Mets' 3-game sweep against the Dodgers.

                      BASEBALL IS BACK!!!

Admittedly, a little behind schedule. A new 2018 Franchise Season starting in February of 2019? Hey, it is baseball, who cares when it starts. Spring Training started yesterday, actually the day before that, but someone at San Diego Studios did not like the fact I already had a pitcher in leftfield (Japanese Sensation, Shohei Ohtani) was subbed in for Benintendi in the middle innings, then we brought RP and Power Hitting Michael Lorenzen to play first. SDD decided we did something illegal, so they cancelled the game and rescheduled it. Leaving management, player and ownership confused. This was in manage mode.

So the Reds and Indians did it again the next day. Pregame warm ups were friendly enough, but the gloves game off in the first inning as the Reds started beating the Indians with their bats (13 hits) and punching them out with their pitching (14 strikeouts). The final score (6 -1) made it seem closer than it actually was as Cleveland only amassed 3 hits, one being a solo homer by Tyler Naquin when Amir Garrett hung a slider over the plate in the fifth. But the Reds already had 5 runs, 3 runs off Cleveland's starter Corey Kluber, and got one back in the seventh.

For the Reds, Castillo got the start, going 3.0 innings with 1 hit and getting the W. Standouts at the plate were Jesse Winker going 3 of 4 with an RBI, two of his hits were doubles. But newly acquired 3B Travis Shaw (in a trade from Milwauke for Eugenio Suarez) went 2 for 3, both hits being the homerun variety, driving in 3 runs by himself. Shaw is a Ohio born native from Washington Court House, OH just up the road (I-71) from Cincinnati. His father, Jeff Shaw, was a pitcher for the Reds for from 1996 to 1998 before a trade to the Dodger for RP Dennys Reyes (a favorite of current ownership) and 1B Paul Konerko, yes that Paul Konerko, who played in 26 games for the Reds before being traded to the White Sox for Mike Cameron. Wow!

New manager Aaron Boone had this to say in the post-game interview, " we looked good out there today". Nice, keep up the great work Aaron.

The Reds will play the Rockies tomorrow, DeSclafani will take the mount for the Reds.

In rumor news, supposedly the Reds are in talks with the Texans, lips are tight, but it may be a Rangers minor league outfielder that the Reds are interested in, any gueses?

Be back tomorrow with updates and Good night all.

Varies, between 17 and 18, I have 5 franchises I play. A couple I have completed every at-bat in 8 to 10 months, others like my complete 0.000 playing time Rookie Roster Franchise, I am about 40 games into after a year. I switch between them. Hopefully, I can stick with this one I am posting about on a consistent basis. I say start a new one, play it until you need a break and it will being waiting for you when you are ready to go back to it. Good luck!

The 2019 Royals have struggled to open the season thus far after a promising opening series win in Toronto they have stumble out to a 3-8 start with some bats just being non existent.

In the home opener against the A’s the two aces faced off, Mike Foltynewicz and Sean Manea with Manea getting the best of the Royals offence in a 3-0 victory, striking out 17 Royals batters!

The offence is the main problem here for the Royals bar one or two bats. Asdrubal Cabrera has started hot batting .333 with a .393 OBP along with Salvador Perez who bats .297 to start the season with an OBP over .300 aswell. Adam Jones continues to struggle in the early stages with a .167 avg and sub .250 OBP and Whit Merrifield too with an avg just over .233 and OBP just over .255.

Defence and pitching has been solid in the early stages though as a team we rank in the top half of the league in ERA and runs aloud and also Base on balls.

After a tough 2-1 series loss to Texas with 3B Manny Machado batting over .400 for the series with 2 HR, In particular 5th Starter Matt Harvey struggled in the 2nd game in a 5-3 loss giving up a homer to both Machado and Odor (who was batting under .200 for the season) he would only go 3.0 innings giving up 6 hits, 2 BB and 4 ER bloating his ERA in 3 starts to 7.27, A bright spot however being Josh Staumont coming out of the pen to work 6.2 strong innings only giving up 1 hit, 1 ER and fanning out 5 batters.

With Staumont pitching well in the Texas series as a whole (ERA under 4 for the season) and guys like Brady Singer and Jackson Kowar being close to MLB ready the 5th starting spot could be shaken up a bit to try and kickstart our season in the midst of this 12 game homestand we have won less than 50% of the games.

Next up a 4 game series for the first time this season with a division rival the Minnesota Twins.

A month or so late but...

I am taking over the role of GM in Baltimore (Elias) and trying to turn around the Orioles. They are the worst team in the game and I think I have what it takes to turn them around. I am using the rosters right after the Puig + Kemp + Wood trade to the Reds so the rosters are accurate as of just prior to Christmas 2018. I am using 30 team control and am making sure all moves are in the best interest of each team and not just mine. I love to rebuild....enjoy

In 2018 we went 62-100 and finished 4th worst in MLB. We made some big trades and got rid of Trumbo, Givens, Beckham but we also got a lot younger. We have a chance to be even worse next season but we feel like our young staff of Ramirez, Gonzales and Bundy will be a solid starting point with Hunter Harvey on the way.

Our first season went about as well as expected. I am very happy with our rebuild at this point. We have made some really good acquisitions and have a young core in the minors ready to make an impact and we will better soon.

Diaz is #20 prospect, 3B Mountcastle is 42, wit Harvey 46, Rodriguez 47.

Nick Vincent 4th in SV (42) after being acquired for Mychal Givens and others in trade.

Marco Gonzales finishes the year 10-6, 3.56. He had one bad start at the end or he would have been under 3. Came over in same trade and was in the 4+ range.

Top prospect C Sisco hit .286 in 70 ab.

                            3B Nunuz 23-71-B* hit .237 but had 21 hr

Rival GM - "They are trying to get to the bottom and they are succeeding. However, they are getting younger and more talented. Their minors are going to be stacked with MLB talent for a few years. It would be worth it to get season tickets to their minor leagues than in Baltimore.*They will compete in a few years but in that division it's going to be rough for a while."

                              OFFSEASON

NOTES: SS/3B Machado (MIA) declined his option and is now a free agent. He had a great year and MIA had the worst record. He will be a hot commodity.

CHW trade Jose Abreu 1B 32-86-B (33 HR, .285) to TB RF Avisail Garcia 27-77-C and CF AJ Pollock 31-79-B, both are signed for 1 more year while Abreu is in his final year.
I have a trade proposal... see the GM Diary page...

Halfway through the second month of the 2018 season my 1 loss Dodgers are still dumping salary.

Traded away SS Manny Machado to the Blue Jays for 2B Devon Travis, 3B Vladimir Guerrero and SP Thomas Pannone. Picking up Guerrero was the key as I’m hoping he’s my 3B of the future. With Turner at 3B, Seager at SS and Taylor playing 2B and swinging a hot bat I had more infielders than I needed.

I already know this off-season my goal is going to be resigning Kike Hernandez and off loading Kemp and Pederson. Hoping Kike sticks around to be every day LF.
