We have placed Tommy Pham, Marwin Gonzalez, and Jon Singleton all on trade waivers. Where we go from here I honestly don't know, but at this point in time, I want to see what happens with these 3 in waivers, and then if they clear what the market is for them.
I'm honestly regretting the Jon Singleton trade. I know he could turn things around, but the drop off we're experiencing from Matt Carpenter to him is greater than I expected. I feel as though we could've used internal options and gotten similar, if not better, results than Singleton has produced.
I'm also regretting trading Stephen Piscotty away to the Giants. Piscotty could've filled in at first base or he could've taken over in right field for a struggling Tommy Pham. Giants didn't place him on trade waivers so nothing we can do now.
We have to find the right combination to get this team back in gear. We did win our last game against the Royals, but that was mostly due to Scherzer pitching a hell of a game and our staff only giving up 1 run on 4 hits combined. We managed just 3 runs on 5 hits. Walks killed the Royals.
Again, thankfully the Cubs have slumped as well and we are now tied again atop the Central division. The Pirates have climbed to within 2 games. Reds are at 6. Brewers are all but mathematically eliminated.
