Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

I've started an A's franchise and done one trade thus far landing SP Danny Duffy and CP Kelvin Herrera for some prospects.
    Lineup
    1. CF Jorge Mateo
    2. RF Stephen Piscotty
    3. 2B Jed Lowrie
    4. 1B Matt Olson
    5. DH Khris Davis
    6. SS Marcus Semian
    7. C Johnathan Lucroy
    8. 3B Matt Chapman
    9. LF Boog Powell
    Rotation
    1. Sean Manea
    2. Danny Duffy
    3. Daniel Mengdan
    4. Henderson Alvarez
    5. Andrew Triggs

I'm looking at Barreto and Puk as possible midseason call ups and I'm looking for another solid hitter to slide at the 3. Any suggestions?

Lost 2 out of 3 to the Angels in the next series and have just lost 2 in a row to the Astros.

I can't hold onto a lead with my bullpen and they can't keep me in a game when I fight back to keep it close. And I can't buy a hit with Roughned Odor, hitting .073 through 15 games. Not too far off where the Ranger are in the real world though.

I'm using dynamic difficulty and go up and down between All-Star and HOF. I may need to set it on All-Star and leave it.
I wish I would lose more. In my franchise, I am 47-12 with the freaking Tigers. Pitching on Legend difficulty, and now hitting on Hall Of Fame (though I started on All Star, and didn't switch to HOF until May).

My starters have been absolutely dominating. Bullpen has been pretty good overall. Luckily the meltdowns they have had came in games where I was up big, or games where I found a way to come back late in games. I have had a couple games where I walked off in the 9th inning in come from behind fashion, including one game in April, where I was trailing 7-5 in the bottom of the 9th, tied it, then Victor Martinez hit a walk off grand slam.

I really can't go up much more in difficulty. Hopefully, as the dog days of summer hit (I am just now starting June) I will start to slump a little bit more, and come back to the pack a little bit.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

After getting off to a surprisingly decent 5-2 start, reality is starting to hit the Rays after losing 3 in a row, conceding over 10 in each of the games and scoring 2 or less. The team ERA has jumped up to nearly 6, while the deluge of quality left handed pitching in the AL East has been too much for a lineup that has basically only Wilson Ramos who prefers lefty pitching.

Brad Miller and his weird lack of follow through swing has been the star of the team with 4 homers and 9 RBI's, all against righties, but the undoubted weak link so far is Hechevaria, who has only picked up 1 hit in the first 10 games of the season and some downright awful defence on top of that.

I did have, but they are all filling in for me in the bullpen.

End of Minor League Season - 2019

The Storm chasers didnt have a great season. Finished 62-78. 3rd worst in AAA. The Naturals were good enough to win the first half of the season but injuries caught up to them in the 2nd half. They will face the Arkansas Travelers in the first round of the Texas League Playoffs.

                Top Prospect Stats
                Spoiler

Majority of our guys had solid seasons. The talent in AA is impressive. Really expected a lot more out of Viloria but its not like we are hurting at catcher right now. He better watch out though cause MJ Melendez was fantastic this year. First year in AA and made a strong case for starting next year in AAA. Michael Gigliotti basically skipped AA thanks to injuries. Had 37 AB before we sent him up to AAA. Was surprised he played as well as he did. I think we have our next Hosmer, Moose and Cain in Albrecht, Pratto and Evans. They will be major factors in us winning a WS at some point in the future.

We really need the relief pitchers to start putting it together in the next couple years. Gotta get the pen back to what it was. Aside from Herrera I have no faith that anyone in the organization can keep a lead. There are a few guys that have a bright future but we could use a couple more.

Played the 2nd game of the home opening series with the Indians in my Indians/Rockies franchise.

Cleveland's offense as of late is on fire! With Encarnacion against the Angels I hit three, yes THREE homeruns. This game he hits two more!

Granted, the ball was flying out of the parm tonight with 10mph blowing out straight CF as there were a total of siix homeruns this game.

We will look to sweep the home opening series after a dominating 12-5 win to take a 2-0 series advantage against KC.

Jason Hammel absolutely had a horrendous first inning, giving up 2 walks, 4 hits, including a 3 run homer by Encernacion. I scored 6, and was up 6-0 after the 1st inning lol. His line...3ip 7h 9r 8er 3bb 4k

Salazar for the Indians was not all that great himself, giving up 5 runs on 8 hits. Here is the box score and pitching stats:

Next game played with be game #2 of the Rockies vs Braves series. We dropped the first so looking to bounce back with Kyle Freeland getting the start.

Traded Ryan Braun to the Dodgers for starting pitcher Lorne Michaud first baseman Andy Brignoni & catcher Austin Barnes.

Finished the year 92-70 and had to face the Cubs in the wild card game defeated the Cubs 2-0 to get to the NLDS where we will face the Cardinals. We lost the series in five games. The Cards will face the Nationals in the NLCS.

The Red Sox defeated the Cards in seven games to win the 2019 world series.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Putting my Miami Marlins franchise on ice for a while, because I started a new one with the Diamondbacks. I forgot who recommended them to me, but good call. I forgot how awesome their new uniforms look, and their stadium is definitely easier on the eyes compared to Miami's stadium.

I created some imaginary story line in my mind that the new GM of the Diamondbacks had a lot of influential ties to Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, etc, which resulted in the D-Backs signing the Hispanic "Fab 5"

There were 5 players in the free agency pool when I started the first season, who were 21 or younger, and all rated either an A or high B (potential.) One pitcher, one SS, one 3B, one 1B, and one OF.

I changed all their names and appearances to fit the story line, leaving their attributes alone. They would become the players that I need to build around going into the future.

I always sim ahead, as I don't have the patience to wait around for them to develop. It's year 2022. The pitcher is an 89, the SS is an 88, the 3B iS an 89, the 1B is an 83, and the OF is an 84.

Anyways, I think I will ride this one out and leave the Marlins franchise alone. I always felt like I was cheating the game by acquiring players young stars, even if I did over pay intentionally to acquire guys like Brendan Rogers, etc. This way, I know I didn't steal anyone's Top prospects, signed them in the FA pool before Game 1 of Season 1, and now the rest is history.

Finished game #2 of the series vs Atlanta with the Rockies.

We started off great, scoring 7 in the 2nd inning and held on to a 7-0 lead, then a 9-0 lead after 5 innings. They scored one in the 6th, and then in the 7th they scored 5 more as I left Freeland in too long (should've been done after 6ip).

My bullpen needed rest though so I was trying to get a longer outing, especially with the big lead. Nonetheless the Rockies hold on to win 10-6.

Simulated the finale of each series...the Indians couldn't finish the sweep and lost to the Royals 7-1. We led 1-0 after 8 innings and Cody Allen blows the save allowing 4 runs in the 9th, McAllister allowed 2 more. AI left Bauer in to finish a CG for some dumb reason only up 1-0 which in reality lost it. He gave up the tying run before taken out (probably with a bunch of guyson base).

And the Rockies win the rubber match, beating the Braves 5-1 with Chad Bettis getting his first win of the season.

Next up: Indians continue our 10 game home stand with a 4 game series vs rival Detroit. I will be playing game 3 of that series. And the Rockies finish their home stand with a 3 game series vs the Padres. I will be playing game two of that series.

Injury update from around the league:

Cardinals - CF Tommy Pham is out 2-3 months with a fractured hand. I recalled CF rookie, Oscar Mercado to replace him.

Yankees - SS Didi Gregorius is off the 10 day DL with his pulled hamstring. 2B Jace Peterson was optioned back to AAA.

Here is the box score and pitching stats for the game I played:

Bullpen woes continued last night in my Ranger franchise, tight ball game taking a 2-1 lead into the 6th against the Astros but Hammels ran out of gas and by the end of the sixth I was down 3-2. Bullpen couldn't keep me in it and lost 8-5, the big blow was giving up a grand slam with Colon in the 7th.

Hit 4 homeruns but 3 of the 4 were solo shots

                            Side note,

I have no idea how some of you get any hits on HOF, or higher. I'm watching everyone in my lineup's batting average drop significantly by the day after switching to All-Star (hitting) in this 4-game series against the Giants.
