After much thought and deliberation, I have decided to play as the Seattle Mariners this year in Franchise. My reasoning is they are only 1 of 2 teams to have never won a World Series or a League Pennant! The Nationals are the other, but them having a good record is another reason for choosing Seattle. Plus, I have played with NL teams in years past, so why not go to the AL this year. The stadium is pretty nice as well, looking forward to moving into the Pacific Northwest, and also playing in LA, Texas, and Houston!

No problem
Sent from my iPhone using Operation SportsI can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Were Estrella and Dorin just random young players in Free agency? Because on my save with OSFM 1.5 40 Man rosters there are a few randomly created young players with B and A potential and I am not sure if I should sign them because they are just randomly created haha.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread
Here's the not so short and sweet version of the most brutal loss I've ever experienced playing this game. In my San Diego Padres franchise I'm up by 6 runs in the bottom of the 9th. I bring in a somewhat fresh reliever into the game (not my closer) to finish things out and every pitch I threw, EVERY SINGLE PITCH I THREW WAS HIT FOR A TRIPLE. One even managed to become an inside the park HR. 4 runs would score with no outs. I then bring my closer in (who had pitched the game before and was like not even half way fatigued) who gives up 3 more hits and I lose 12-11 without recording a single out in the 9th inning. I mean every pitch I made, whether it was right on the bar (meter pitching) or just short of the bar went for a hit. Yes my bullpen was pretty tired, none were completely drained though but this is comeback code at its finest. I was on a 12 game winning streak at the time also. There was nothing I could do in that ninth and I dont care what anyone says because the game wanted me to lose that one regardless. I was playing against the Rockies. I'm still in shock!

Yup! Free agent randoms. This team needs all the help they can get lol. Both are B potential. One a 3B and one 1B who can play catcher as well.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread
So I’m debating on playing default Legend Meter Pitching, and either Legend or Hall of Fame default hitting... Are there any other players who are doing this, if so, how are your results and competition at those levels? As I play more, I will also get better, but why not go big or go home right? LolComment

Dude it was so brutal. I'm trying to hold off on making any major upgrades until around the trade deadline as I'm having tons of fun with these young up and comers but this loss was as bad as they come.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread
I love the youth this team has. I know IRL they just signed Hosmer to a long term deal but I can't hit at all with the dude really and if I can trade him at the deadline for a potential starting pitcher I'll do it. Might not be realistic to get rid of a guy the team just signed but my rookie first baseman is killing it for me right now and I'd like to see what he can do with more playing time.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread
The trades I am most likely to make are Brad Hand to NYY for Miguel Andujar and Justus Sheffield and Wil Myers to CLE for SP Triston McKenzie, stacking even more high level prospects into the organization. Tons of youth and that leads to tons of options going forward in terms of trades with such quality minors.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread
In San Diego, the Padres have made a few moves in order to clear spots on the 90 man roster by trading OF Shane Peterson (62, D Pot) 1B River Stevens (56, C Pot) and C Webster Rivas (59, C Pot) to Texas for OF Hunter Cole (57, C Pot). In addition to that trade, minor league outfielders Auston Bousfield and Forrestt Allday and catcher AJ Kennedy have been released from Single A. These moves paved the way to signing highly touted free agent youngsters CF Rodger Score (70, B Pot), 6'5 RF Rickey Atcho (73, A Pot), and 1B Steven Elez (61, C Pot). This adds to the Padres upper tier farm system and gives a boost to OF depth in a place where there was not much developmental depth. The news doesn't stop there as we have just gotten word that the SD Padres have signed reliever Trevor Rosenthal after a workout earlier today in which Padres doctors medically cleared him to pitch. Rosenthal gets a 2 year deal for 5.5 Million to join and give a boost to the Friars pen.
The padres have gotten off to a slow start on the season, jumping out to a 2-5 record. The pitching staff has been a area of concern early in the season with struggles by Luis Perdomo and Joey Lucchesi getting rocked in their first starts to the tune of 9 and 7 runs allowed a piece. The injury bug has bitten the Padres twice at the MLB level as IF Cory Spangenberg suffered a fractured forearm during the final game of Spring Training and is expected to miss
2 months. Reserve OF Travis Jankowski was lost for the season with a Torn Achilles Tendon on Opening day after pinch running late in the game. This led to the call-up of reserve IF Dusty Coleman and the waiver claim of OF Mark Trumbo from the Baltimore Orioles.
April looks to be a rough month going forward for the Padres as their next series will be against the Defending WS Champs the Houston Astros. The schedule does not get easier there as they will have series with the Rockies, Dodgers, Mets, Giants, DBacks and Giants. This will definitely be an interesting month for Padre baseball.Comment
