    June 2019 Update

Indians finish month three with a record of 50-35. We went 15-10 on the month our worst streak was a four game series loss to the Angels. We are still dealing with Carlos Carrasco being on the DL he has eleven days on the DL left. We did make a move and sign Charlie Morton when Carrasco went down. The move seems to be working out well for us.

We are 8.5 games up on the Royals who sit at 40-42. Below are stats for our top hitters.

    Francisco Lindor=.332 14 HR 47 RBI 8 SB

    Jose Ramirez=.289 11 HR 33 RBI 4 SB

    Edwin Encarnacion=.288 19 HR 62 RBI 2 SB

    Francisco Mejia=.283 10 HR 33 RBI 1 SB

    Corey Kluber=11-2 123.1 innings pitched 128 strikeouts 1.82 ERA 0.88 WHIP

    Trevor Bauer=9-3 109.2 innings pitched 115 strikeouts 3.12 ERA 1.12 WHIP

    Jarlin Garcia=6-5 89.1 innings pitched 76 strikeouts 4.63 ERA 1.34 WHIP

    Joe Ross=5-8 97.2 innings pitched 83 strikeouts 3.50 ERA 1.27 WHIP

    Charlie Morton=3-4 44.1 innings pitched 45 strikeouts 3.86 ERA 1.40 WHIP

    Cody Allen=1-1 25.2 innings pitched 33 strikeouts 1.75 ERA 1.13 WHIP 24 Saves

    Prospect Reports

    Eldridge McMillian=.258 average 12 HR 32 RBI 12 SB (62 games)

    Ryan White=.263 average 6 HR 29 RBI 7 SB (49 games)

    Ralph Lyles=1-2 24 saves 35 innings pitched 35 strikeouts 2.83 ERA 1.31 WHIP

    Brandon Morales=.269 average 11 HR 40 RBI 22 SB(72 games)

    Jared Valdez=9-3 102 innings pitched 71 strikeouts 1.94 ERA 1.02 WHIP

    Luis Roberson=6-4 80 innings pitched 82 strikeouts 4.50 ERA 1.74 WHIP

    Tom Griffith=1-0 32 innings pitched 31 strikeouts 0.84 ERA 0.69 WHIP 25 saves

The only big trades I have seen so far are as follows.

Yankees aquire third baseman Jeramy Ramos & center fielder Jimmy Campillo from Pirates for catcher Yasmani Grandal

Astros aquire Chi Chi Gonzalez from Rangers for center fielder Jake Marisnick

Marlins aquire right fielder Jay Bruce from Mets for first baseman Justin Bour

      July 2019 Update

Indians finish the month of July 63-46. We are 13 games up on the Royals. Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

In my Rangers franchise, i had lost the first two games of the four game series -bad- against the Astros. I won the third game of the series and hoped for a split. I immediately was down 3-0 after two innings. They added another, then 2 more in the top of the 6th.

So i was down 6-0 going into the bottom of the 6th. And i only had 3 hits off of Cole.

Then, I walked with Deshields. Beltre doubled, making 6-1 Astros. Chirinos hit a single, then Choo singled on a beautiful soft line drive just over the first baseman's head, cutting the Astros lead to 4. Gallo then hits an easy two-hop double play ground ball to Altuve, that should have gotten them out of the inning.....but it goes through Altuve's legs. Another run scores, making it 6-3 Astros. Next, Guzman singles on a line drive to left. The left fielder misplayed the hop and it skips by him for the second error of the inning. 2 more runs score. Thy lead was cut to 1 and Astros led 6-5 going into the 7th. How quickly things can change.

In the 8th inning, they are still leading 6-5. Chirinos walked, and with 2 outs and Gallo up, with 2 strikes he sends a 2-run Bomb into the Porch to take the lead. 7-6 Rangers going into the 9th.

        Then... the unthinkable.

My closer strikes out the leadoff guy. With 2 outs away from a series split, Altuve, protecting with 2 strikes, chops a 3-foot nubber in front of the plate and beats it out for a single. Correa, down two strikes, crushes a pitch to deep right-center. Deshields gives chase and misses it by an inch. The ball hits the wall and Deshields does too. But the angle of that wall sends the ball back toward the vacated centerfield. There is no one there. By the time the ball got back to the infield, Correa had given the Astros the lead back, with a 2-run, go-ahead inside-the-park home run in the 9th. Devestating.

But, never ever quit. I knew i needed to lock-in. Bottom of the 9th Mazara grounds out to Altuve to lead off the inning. Profar then draws a full-count walk off Giles. Deshields hits a possible ground ball double play to end the game, but, it was placed perfectly between SS and 3B. Bregman at third dives and knocks it down but has no play. And with two on in the bottom of the 9th, Odor, who was 0-for-14 on the series, smashes a line drive into the opposite field gap for a 2 run walk-off double. And i don't smoke but i think i need a cigarette.

Just curious, when you sim games, do you see that the Phillies and Braves aren't winning like in real life? And if so do you edit their top guys to make more of an impact and help them win like they have IRL? Just curious. Because I'm one who seems to restart franchises a lot and they are never a winning team and thought of doing this. Just curious if anybody has done anything similar.

            August 2019 Recap

Indians finish August 82-54 we are 16 games up on the Royals and are four games behind Boston for best record in the AL.

We went 19-8 in the month of August but we were forced to make some call ups as players were injured Charlie Morton spent two weeks on the DL forcing us to call up Shane Bieber from Triple A we put in the bullpen and started Danny Salazar in Morton's place. Bieber pitched four innings and had a 2.25 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP.

Also we were forced to call up Monte Harrison as Lonnie Chisenhall went down with a torn calf. Harrison would end up getting a few starts as Tyler Naquin would go down with a fractured arm as well. Both will spend the month of September on the DL Chisenhall will probably be back for the first round of the playoffs. Naquin won't return till later in the playoffs.

In my world the Phillies are actually playing well, if you look at the standings I posted you will see some good teams doing bad, like the Angels for example. They have been hammered with injuries to key people....Trout, Ohtani and Skagg. It is just part of baseball and I let it play out. It’s your world, operate it how you wish.

                  End of August - 2023

The end of the season is almost here. For some teams. We are 22-16 since the All Star Break. 73-60 and overall and we sit in first place in the division. The Tigers are 4.5 games back in 2nd with the Twins 5.5 back in 3rd. We went through a bit of a slump to start the 2nd half. From July 21st to August 6th we went 6-10 and lost 4 of 5 series. We were able to get things turned around though. 16-6 since. We have won 7 straight and 12 of our last 15.

29 Games left. 14 at home. 11 games against the Twins and Tigers. They are the only teams we face that are currently over .500. Things have been going extremely well. So i'm sure we will find some way to screw this up.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Just bought MLB 18 yesterday. Carrying over my MLB 17 franchise.

I started my MLB 17 franchise a few months ago, played about 20 MLB games and some minor league games, simulated the rest but was constantly keeping track of organization needs such as call ups and optioning players and the draft and trades.

I am using the Braves. We finished the 2017 season 86-76, 1 game behind the Giants for the 2nd Wildcard spot. The Boston Red Sox ended up winning the WS in 7 games against the Cubs.

Acquired Sonny Gray at the all start break, trading Brandon Phillips and Lucas Sims. Nick MARKAKIS and Bartolo Colon were traded earlier in the seas on, acquiring Carter Capps.

Matt Kemp was traded in the off-season, in return we got Boshers from Twins to help our bullpen.

Freeman had a career high 37HR and 102 RBI.
                    Inciarte had a .287 with 8HR 53RBI
Albies was called up after Phillips trade, then got injured and missed thebrest of the season, he hit .201 with 4 2B in 60 at bats.

Swanson hit .258 with 8 HR and 42 RBI in full season of play.

                    Kemp had a 30HR season but hit .252 with a .301 OBP

Suzuki hit .299 with 18HR 61 RBI and an OBP of .380

Adonis Garcia hit .245 with 15HR, low OBP

Teheran finished the season 10-11 with a 3.44 ER
                    Gray finished 13-10 with a 3.11 ER
Folty ended 7-4 with a 2.88 ERA, missed a month and a half due to injury

In the offseason we acquired SP Jason Vargas, RP Francisco Rodriguez, OF/3B Lonnie Chisenhall, CF Fee for Blanco, 1B/3B Jose Bautista, 2B Aaron Hill, and much more depth players.

The draft which hapoened in June:
                    RD 1 (5) Henry Mueller (20) CP 69 OVR/94 POT
                    RD 2 (5) Will Kerr 3B (22) 71 OVR/88POT
                    RD 3 (5) Simon Erwin RF (22) 58 OVR/84 POT
                    RD 4 (5) Bob Payton 1B (19) 57 OVR/ 90 POT
                    RD 5 (5) Luis Marquis RP (21) 61 OVR/ 74 POT
                    RD 6 (5) Johnnie Mora C (19) 74 OVR/ 61 POT
                    RD 7 (5) Elmer Villenueva RP (21) 56 OVR/ 68 POT

I played a few spring training games in MLB 18 to get the feel for the game.

The MLB roster is set, and the starting lineup looks like this

                    CF Inciarte
                    2B Albies
                    1B Freeman
                    C Suzuki
RF Giles (Player no longer in MLBPA so i created his new name, Lucas Giles)
                    3B Chisenhall
                    LF Acuna Jr
                    SS Swanson

I can't find the option anywhere, but is it possible to view minor league stats from previous seasons?

Also, when settings lineups without the DH how do you select a pitcher? So far I have to manually click the "auto fix lineups" before I'm able to sim. There has to be a better way. There isn't a pitcher available in the lineups to select

Finally, is there a way to see someone's potential after they've been drafted?

-Unfortunately, no dice on checking minor league stats for previous seasons unfortunately.
-The pitcher shows up based on how your rotation is set up.
-You can check someones letter grade potential (I'm assuming that you know that already), but if you're looking for a number value, you can just go in to the edit player screen and check there.

Did you have an empty spot (or create one due to roster moves) in the rotation for the current day's starter?

If so, this happens, and unfortunately you have to let the game auto-fix. Normally, it just puts the pitcher in, or at least that's the usual result for me.

If this wasn't due to a roster move, then it's certainly a bug. It should just pick up the current starter and put him in the no DH lineups, even for an AL team.

                            Ahh, that might be it.

I'm a bit bummed about not being able to see the minor league stats or the potential someone has with any stat (aside from editing them).

This is my first MLB The Show game but Franchise seems super limited.

Haven't provided an update in a bit.

We are currently in August and sit 4 games behind the Reds and 2 1/2 games out of the wildcard. We just finished a sweep of the Phillies but the Reds are on a roll as they won 2 of 3 from the majors best team, the Dodgers.

Since trading Siegrist our bullpen has been very good, but our starting pitching has been shaky. Alex Reyes continues to be a roller coaster pitcher as one game he's on and the next his control is all over the place. Michael Wacha's last two starts have yielded a combined 6 innings pitched and 11 earned runs given up. Martinez and Flaherty have been solid, and Lynn has been decent though he lasted just an inning and a third after being knocked out due to injury.

Our bats have been on fire as we hit a total of 9 homeruns and scored a total of 20 runs in the series against the Phillies.

Next up is a 7 game homestand with the Brewers in town for 3 and then the Reds for 4. Big series.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

If it's after the draft you'll see there potential when you go to sign them but if it's a prospect that's in the system you'll need to go to edit and see a number for yourself.
