How come in Franchise, when you send a player down their stats disappear from your team stats?

Also, how do you fellas handle your Franchise’s?

I’ve printed off things like DFA’s, waiver claims, trades, etc and put them in my Franchise but I have a really big backlog and not sure I want to keep doing those moves.

After the first 19 games of the season we are currently sitting at 16-3. We also hold a 5 game lead over the Brewers. Below will be a layout of the team roster, Depth Chart. If you are checking out my franchise for the first time a lot of the players came to the team by a way of trade and a few we signed in the offseason. Cesar Diaz is about to make his season debut, he is a lefty reliever that we got in the last years draft. I will be giving regular up dates on the standing and stats of player as well as award races and league leaders every 20 games or so.

I can definitely see why someone would want to do all of that, and keep the league as close to real-life as possible. However, to me, those same moves would not be made in my franchise, because it is a different universe. Teams make trades, waiver claims, and let players go based on not only the individual's performance, but also the team's performance, injuries, and the overall picture of that division, league, etc. Since the individual players and teams in my league generally perform at least somewhat differently than in real life, many or most of those transactions would never happen.

Some say the CPU doesn't make realistic enough moves. While that may or may not be true, I can't see that making real-life moves for a different universe are any more realistic than the CPU moves. And if they are both equal, i would rather not take all of the time it takes to make every move.

I think the better option is to either let the league breathe on its own, (maybe try to stop a few glaring moves if desired), or, make your own unbiased moves for every team, based on that teams actual needs. This would take even more time and thinking and effort though. So i do the former, and i can spend that time enjoying the league, and making moves for my team.

Thats just my 4 cents lol.

This is 100% me as well.

Controlling other team's moves is not realistic. No one undid the Larry Andersen for Jeff Bagwell deal...a move that would probably be undone in every MLBTS franchise

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

                End of May - 2024

Through the first 2 months things have not been going well. We sit at 27-29. 3rd place in the central. 4.5 games behind the Indians for 1st and 25 games out of a Wild Card spot. We haven't had any major losing streaks. We just cant lose 1 at a time. Since April 17th we have losing streaks of 3, 2, 3, 3, 2, 3, 3, 3. Thankfully most of our wins have come in groups as well. The Pirates were tied for the worst record in the majors last year. They now lead the NL at 38-18. Angels are tops in the AL at 37-21. Mariners are the worst in the majors at 22-38. Marlins worst in the NL at 22-36.

The offense has been extremely disappointing. We are hitting .248/.325/.408 (24th, 21st, 22nd) and yet we are 10th in runs with 257. We have hit 105 Doubles (5th), 12 Triples (9th) and 61 HR (23rd). We have stolen 32 bases (23rd) with a 70% success rate (12th). We have 212 Walks (12th) to 440 Strikeouts (6th).

                Stats
                Spoiler

The pitching isnt any better. We have a 4.46 ERA (25th) 75 HR allowed (23rd), and 423 Strikeouts (29th). We make them earn it though. Our 162 Walks is best in the Majors. Our defense also sucks. 31 errors and .985 Fielding % are both 28th.

                Stats
                Spoiler

We are also firing our Farm Director Damon Dagenais. Way to many guys down in the minors failing. Jimmy Gomes will come in and take over for the rest of the season. There are some guys performing well though.

                Stats
                Spoiler

                Schedule
                Spoiler

Not the season I was expecting so far. Still early and very much still in the playoff race. The offense has slowly been getting better but the pitching really needs to figure things out. 40 games left before the AS break. 25 of them at home and 18 against the division. We are currently 13-15 at home and 9-9 against the division. 19 of the games are against teams at or over .500.

I don't know that it would be undone in every MLBTS franchise. It all depends on the context of that franchise.

When I do a 30 team franchise, I will make roster moves for the other teams, if I feel they are realistic. I will also correct stupid unrealistic roster moves the CPU teams make. For instance, If they send down a 71 overall starting pitcher who is 10-4 with a 3.33 ERA, for a 74 overall Starting pitcher, I will undo that move, as what MLB team would send down a player having that kind of season.

I will also make trades for CPU teams at the deadline, if they are in contention. Sometimes the CPU doesn't make trades when it should.

We swept the Padres to move to within 4 1/2 games of the Reds in the division and just 1 1/2 games out of the wildcard. Our pitching was dominant as we shut them out in 2 of the 3 games. Our bats were able to help us win the 3rd game of the series 7-4, thanks mostly to Patrick Wisdom and Dioner Navarro.

Next up is a 3 game series in Colorado. Hopefully we can keep this winning streak going.

EDIT: I really wish in single team control in franchise you could view the manager for the other teams. I'm in late August and I honestly just noticed/remembered that Clint Hurdle is their manager. Please SDS give us this option.

Finally got my hybrid roster franchise up and going, so excited to play opening day this evening! Ready to dominate the league with Acuna and my Braves!

As for the few posts above me, I get all the roster moves in before I begin, but once I start my franchise, I just let it ride for the most part. Monitoring every single transaction and trying to keep pace with the real MLB just takes the fun out of it IMO. Just let your own world operate how it wants!

I think that this is the way it has been, once a player moves from one level to another you no longer see his stats from the previous level in a team view mode. You can still view his major league stats in the player card.

The All-Star Game was a slugfest, with the AL coming out on top 12-9. The Mets were well-represented at the Mid-Summer Classic, with Cespedes, Frazier and DeGrom all starting the game. Bruce and Familia were reserves.

(Immersion in that game still takes a hit with having to use those BP uniforms. Would be nice to have players in their team uniforms for the game.)

Mets head to the Bronx to take on the Yankees in part two of the 2018 Subway Series. A tough way to open the second half of the season, but the push for the playoffs is on! (Well in the Mets' case, more like push to finish with the best record in baseball)

What do you guys think about the idea of drafting for the CPU with roster control? I hate seeing relievers taken with top 10 picks.

I was maybe thinking of doing the first round only.

Bagwell would probably be A potential even if using just his scouting report and his AA numbers (.880 OPS)

Reliever for 22-year-old ready-now 3B dealt at near the actual trade deadline (August 30) and has power potential, so only 1 month of the reliever unless signed to an extension?

Probably wouldn't fly with a lot of players, I'm guessing.

Yeah, I really wish they'd add stats as a factor to OVR when making decisions like this.

I guess they tried to with the expected performance aspect to morale, which can influence OVR.

I think moving it from morale and just have it as part of the OVR calculation directly would be more impactful, a lot like how you can have OOTP's AI consider stats as heavily as you'd like in your scouts OVR grading.

Sometimes real teams don't take a chance and go for the win. Sometimes they overdo it.

I've seen both by the CPU. To me, that's just fine. I wouldn't want to see nearly perfect moves every time.
