    4-11-18
Just finished up a six game home stand with the D-Backs and Brewers at 3-3 four of the six games was decided by one run.
We now stand at 6-6. We now go on the road for seven games in seven days, four with the Reds and three with the Cubs. We don’t have another day off until 4-19, we have had three extra inning games and the pen is somewhat gassed right now. I really need some strong starting efforts.
Karma continues to bite me in the butt as the injuries just keep coming.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Loren Rasmussen delivered his best start of the season as the Marlins win a 5-0 game that was 1-0 through 6 innings.

Rasmussen was having some issues early, but when he settled in, his pitch-to-contact style showed it's strengths. He went eight innings, using just 93 pitches, and gave up nine hits. It sounds like quite a few hits, but with just two strikeouts, it was about the expected number of hits.

The hits were scattered after the first few innings and that's a big part of the success for him.

On the Marlins end, they had a hard time getting any hits at all. Sam Javeri reached on an error and then stole second. That let the next hitter, Jay Craft, hit a slow grounder up the middle for a single to drive Javeri in. The ball went only 81 MPH but it was good enough and well-placed for the RBI.

The Marlins opened the game up in the 7th. With one run already in, Stan Brito unleashed a 3-run bomb, just his 4th of the season as his power hasn't picked up yet, to put the Marlins up 5-0, breaking the backs of the opponent.

Ozzie Luis pitched the 9th to close the game. The Marlins were able to maintain their slim lead over the Nats, still sitting a 2 1/2 games.

"Hopefully, this is a sign that our boys on the mound will start settling in, " the Marlins manager commented, "We are built pitching first, so we have to get good starting pitching if we want to stay consistently in the win column."
"Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

For the second straight game, the Red Sox walk off the Orioles in the 12th.

David Price threw 8 solid innings, with his lone mistake being a 3 run homer to Mark Trumbo. We were able to scratch across 2 runs of Dylan Bundy, but otherwise he kept our bats quiet. Trailing 3-2 into the bottom of the 9th, JD Martinez got just enough of a slider to send it into the bullpen and tie the game. Bobby Poyner and Craig Kimbrel combined for 3 scoreless, and in the 12th it was once again Martinez delivering. He hit a 3-1 slider from O'Day high over the Monster to give the Red Sox the win and the series sweep.

We now sit 2.5 games ahead of the Yankees and 3.5 ahead of the Orioles as we begin a road trip with a series against the Angels. The bullpen is pretty worn out from the extra inning games, so here's to hoping the starters can work deep these next few games.

No. Once you start your franchise, the settings you have are locked in. The only thing you can change is whether or not you or the CPU handle various tasks.

After following up our 5 game winning streak with a 3 game losing streak, we are back on a 2 game winning streak after taking the final two games of a 4 game series with the Cubs. We are still 4 games behind the Reds.

Magnerius Sierra being back in the lineup has been a HUGE shot in the arm as our lineup feels balanced again and his production means that Piscotty and Carpenter are getting better hitting opportunities as well as the rest of the lineup as it trickles down.

We have 4 days left in June before we start finding out who is going to make a run at October and who is going to start looking towards the future.

Mets have been scuffling as of late, losing 6 of their last 8 games. This was bound to happen after such a hot April and May. Nationals are only 6.5 games back in the NL East.

20 games into my Twins Franchise, and it is not going so well. 5-15 and heading to New York to play the sizzling Yankees for 4 games.

My offense is terrible, dead last in runs and average; and my pitching is not much better. My two high paid relievers (Reed and Duke) have not been able to keep leads (in the few times that I have actually held a lead). The rest of my bullpen has been pretty good though. Odorizzi and Hughes both have ERA's under 4 while Berrios and Lynn are over 5.00.

Sano is hitting an even .300 and he is really the only one hitting close to a respectable number. Buxton has been awful, like .125 awful and Kepler is hitting .135. Dozier has 6 homeruns but is only hitting .224.

My nerves are getting worse with each passing game lol.

Mets season is down to seven games to go holding a two game lead in the Wildcard. Last game Mets trailed the whole game 4-1 until the seventh. We scratched two runs across but could have had more as the bases were still loaded with no outs as we scored no more. Go to the ninth trailing 4-3 and loaded the bases again. Tied game up on sac fly and then finally a key hit as we hit a gapper and the Mets walk off with a 5-4 win!

After a twelve game losing streak we have now won ten out of twelve.

Just wondering what your doubles and home run numbers look like at this point, and through how many games? Im considering trying Legend Default. Im not awfully far off of it now, just a few clicks. Everything looks right except home run numbers. If i could get up to get up to 1 per game on average i would be happy.

I had went to Cincinnati with high hopes as the Reds had been struggling. Lost the first two games of the series but managed to win the last two to come out with a split and leave Cincinnati with a 8-8 record 4 1/2 games behind the red hot Pirates.
DeJong and Molina both finally broke out of their season long slumps and Carlos Martinez was really good in game four other than giving up a couple of solo shots.
I finally got off of high center and traded Kolten Wong as I have never had any success hitting with him but thought it might be different this year, I was wrong.
The trade involved Rangel Ravelo as well in return I got utility infielder Tim Locastro-Dodgers who brings some much needed speed to the club. It’s off to Wrigley and three games against the Cubs 9-7.

My rangers franchise is ups and downs. Sometimes I think we can compete for a wildcard position. But then I play against Houston and see how far off we truly are. Delino is on the 60 day DL and I think we need a solid power hitting CF. And as far as LF goes Willie isn't ready yet and Joey just isn't what the Rangers thought he'd be. Any suggestions on what to do or who to target?

                            OVERVIEW

Very disappointed in our draft. We picked thirteenth and came out with Ozuna in the first round. I took a chance as we had not scouted him but his initial listing was 80 pot with estimated MLB time of next season.

Well that will teach me not to draft players we havent scouted...Cruz will likely be in the MLB fairly soon as Castillo is on the last leg of his career and I don't believe there is anyone to replace him. Parra and McCormick were the others who were signed the rest will be left unsigned.

In regards to our current team, we had a nice May/ start of June. Avisail Garcia went down in one of our last games with a separated shoulder and will miss 2-3 months. This is the second year in a row with such a significant and his durability is definitely in question.

The injury does make way for Johhny Shinjo, last years first round pick to make his MLB debut. While in the minors this season, he hit .289 with 10 homeruns. He comes in as a 78 OVR 18 YO LF but will be player RF while Garcia is injured. We are 4.5 games behind Cleveland at this time and will look to get a bit closer as our next series is in Cleveland for a three game set.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Having a bit of a dilemma at the moment. One week away from the All Star break and my Jays have been limping after a hot first month and a half. I’m now in the second wild card spot with a 3 game lead on a few teams for that position.

My dilemma is if I should go for it and make a trade for a guy like Braun and maybe a starter. Or, should I sell my pieces like Donaldson, Smoak and Morales (Smoak and Morales have been my two best hitters) to contending teams.

I don’t think I will catch the Red Sox as I haven’t been able to beat them much this year and they are quite a bit ahead of the pack. If I make the wild card, I’ll play the Yankees who will surely throw out Severino. In two games against him this year I have not scored one run against him, so not sure how my chances would pan out.

Going all in makes sense from my position and I hate to give up, but I could really cash in on my hot hitters and get some prospects and call up some of my MLB ready ones, including Vlad Jr. this would allow me to fill the spots in around my young guys and allow them to grow together in a rebuild. Plus, guys like Smoak and Morales won’t have as much value in the off-season when teams can just go via Free agency. Plus Donaldson would leave without return.

I’m literally 50-50 on what to do. What would you guys do in my position?

4-2 over my last six games in my Rangers franchise.

The injury bug has hit me pretty hard in May. Lost Gallo and Guzman to the 10 day DL within a few games of each other and Andrus has been on the 60 day since mid April. Just lost Volquez in my rotation who had been pitching well the last couple games after a really rough start.

It's been a real struggle to score runs since I lost Gallo and Guzman but my pitching staff has stepped up and we've won 4 straight giving up 3 runs or less in each of those games. A lot of low scoring tight games since the patch, could just be a coincidence though. I did beat the Royals 9-1 in game 2 without a single homerun and haven't hit a homerun in any of those wins. Will try and take the 4 game series sweep against the Royals tonight.
