If you folks think your ace pitchers are not performing as well as you think they should perform, you can always bump up their H/9 attribute values.
I won't change attributes. Its just not my thing. So much so, when Ohtani came out, I lowred all his attributes by 10. After about 15 games I went back and put them back to what they were. He was playing well irl and I just felt like it was cheating. Kluber is who he is in this game when you use him in manage mode.
Its just funny that if someone was using the Indians and knew nothing about them, they would send him down or trade him [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

In a similar vein, I'm curious about the experience you guys have with types of pitchers. I don't have enough evidence to really say for sure, but it really feels like in this mode more "pitch to contact" or control guys do better than the flame-throwers. It's also worth noting that I've kind of embraced it and built my team around it, so it's hardly a scientific observation on my part.

For SP I look for 4 things - Stamina, durability, h/9 & bb/9. I don't particularly care about k/9 because those guys tend to get high pitch counts and drain stamina at a higher rate than pitch to contact guys.

For RP I look for h/9 + K/9 and/or bb/9. Clutch is also important for late inning RP/CP. bb/9 isn't as important for late inning setup/closer types if they have good h/9, k/9 and ideally clutch because stamina isn't a big issue and the can pitch their way around a walk.

The one constant for all pitchers in a good h/9.

I hope somebody can help answer this question. Does it really matter what pitching, hitting, baserunning and difficulty level I have the game set on if I am playing in Manage Only Mode? Thanks, in advance for your assistance here.

I can't say with absolute certainty, but I use Nomo's sliders and he does a ton of research and testing and uses All-Star for his. His stats are VERY consistent with regular baseball.

Then, would it be safe to say that simply having a draft and then starting a season while playing ALL games in Manage Only Mode would yield the same statistical accuracy whether I played in Rookie mode or Hall of Fame? That is to say, the second I go into Manage Only Mode, none of the pitching, hitting or baserunning setting would matter to gameplay or the accuracy of the player's season long performance. I'm just wondering if I can play Manage Only and have it be accurate without having to go through all of the option settings...there are so many to mess with.
              God Bless.

I'm guessing other guys (more knowledgeable) will weigh in, but that seems legitimate. In fact, considering your stats compared to the rest of the league you might find more consistency that way. One thing that I've seen come up more than once in the slider threads is that simmed games aren't using whatever slider adjustments the user has made. The only way to have league wide consistency with a slider set would be to play ALL the games with those sliders. Which I suppose if one had no life, no family, no need to work, might be possible.

I could be completely wrong. Like I said, there's a lot of knowledgeable guys here that will probably weigh in.

It is my understanding that MoM doesnt use a "difficulty" per say. I believe it is defaulted to All-Star. I've never tried or tested moving to a different level to see. I believe I talked to Nomo a year or two back and it was determined that All-Star is what it plays on.

Thanks guys. I appreciate that. I was just hoping that if I did MoM that I wouldn't need to worry with setting and all that stuff.

Re: MLB 18 Manage Only Mode

Im done with Manage mode till they fix CPU AI. I just set a MLB record with 16 total home runs in one game and 24 total through 2 games (all default except fielder and base run). This patch really added solid contact. But the real reason is Angels (down by 1) bring in a reliever who gives up 4 hR and 6 hits in one inning, no confidence and the cpu manager just leaves him in there. I cant even switch teams and fix it.

It appears to me that only CPU slider settings impact Manage Only. My team was last in the league in batting even with Human batting sliders maxed. Out of curiosity I increased the CPU batting sliders. I got the desired increase in offensive output, but of course CPU offense showed the same improvement, so I went from mostly low-scoring games to higher-scoring ones.

Human sliders don't apply to manage mode. I just match human to cpu. Which currently is default. The only ones I changed is fielding and baser unning.

Second game since 1.11 of MoM and my team now has 18 total homeruns in 2 games. Had 6 in first game and 12 in the second game. Playing default sliders with fielding and baserunning at 4. I love the added offense as I always felt the game was pitcher strong, but this is just getting stupid. Really am considering my MLB days done with the show. I dont always have time or energy to actually play games which makes me love MoM, but I dont know how long I can handle this patch crap and the cpu dumb AI logic. Just really is killing it for me.

All I can tell you is try manage mode with difficulty on either Legend or Beginner (for both hitting & pitching) and see if one of those alters the offense a bit. I know it does in CPU vs CPU with normal franchise games.
                              Hope this helps.

When I saw the patch notes I mistakenly thought they had lowered offense by upgrading the defense. There is definitely a lot more offense. I would recommend playing home games in Forbes or Griffith. You still get runs but a lot of home runs in other parks become doubles in those parks because of the dimensions.
