Re: Expansion/Create and Customize Stadium
IMO, there is no greater need in MLB The Show than the option to create a new club for franchise mode.
I wouldn’t mind some “template” stadiums to use for an expansion franchise, but there is no logical reason why the developers couldn’t take their very robust DD logo/uniform creator and allow people to create a new/expansion franchise mode club with it. This has been standard in nearly all other sports games (including EA’s baseball games) for nearly 2 decades.
I am frankly sick of settling on the club that has a balance of a lowly roster (for rebuilding purposes), an aesthetically interesting division, and a semi-tolerable uniform.
There have been elements of this being done in past sports games (some from 15 years ago), that even if they were incorporated in these manners, I'd be satisfied with.
In my own personal perfect version of the game, you would be able to:
1 - Create a team, either using their existing functionality for the logo / uniform designer, or, as someone else mentioned, something similar to NCAA Football 14. I'd kind of prefer the latter, because you could upload image files to use, as opposed to having to either find a vault logo, or spend hours (in some cases, literally) building the logo with hundreds of smaller elements.
2 - Import that team into franchise, even if it just had to replace a current team. Madden 2003 was the first one I remember doing this, and it carried through in all of the PS2 era Madden games. In this case, your team would just take over that team's place in the division, have that team's schedule, roster and so on. So, theoretically - this would eliminate at least some of the headache that would come along with having to make a new schedule for a 31st team and figuring out logistics for that.
3 - As far as the stadium goes, either choosing from pre-built templates (like in current gen Madden), or (and this would take a lot of dev time I'm sure), do something similar to the build a stadium feature from MVP Baseball 2005. For those that don't know, you started off with just a bare bones, not terribly big stadium, with little capacity. Then as you earned money during the season(s), you were able to add elements of your choosing to expand the stadium. There were limited choices to different areas of the stadium, but, there were enough that a friend and I were each doing our own franchises, and our stadiums looked similar but with enough little touches to differentiate them. I remember playing this game and being turned off by the little stadium at first, but was so surprised at how much I really enjoyed seeing the park evolve.
Anyway... just my $.02. I really, really love the Show series, and I sincerely believe if they implemented a method of creating a team, combined with the year to year saves and the OSFM rosters, it would be the only sports game I would need year-round.Comment

Re: Expansion/Create and Customize Stadium
Since they have fixed gameplay with this year's game my #1 thing is to allow for create-a-team from diamond dynasty to be in offline franchise and replace an existing MLB team with my created team.
It would require very little programming time because the feature already exists. I have no idea why the developers haven't done this.≡Comment

Thats the most important reason to want the feature! I can't imagine how many hours I would spend doing that. It would be so fantastic. I'd probably spend entire months where the only video gaming I'd do were creating and perfecting them.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment

But honestly, if I'm sitting in my own house playing a game by myself and I want to change how the uniforms look, how does that effect anything to anyone else? It would just make me happy.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment

Re: Expansion/Create and Customize Stadium
I agree. And for Madden too. Its been hinted at that the leagues won't allow them to give players the chance to create or edit uniforms (and I would guess stadiums) because they feel that the real ones won't get as much exposure, or some nonsense.

Dude, they sell those in stores though. I don't see why that would be a problem in the game.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment

Re: Expansion/Create and Customize Stadium
One of the things that's easier to do created stadiums in Madden/NHL/NBA is that you're essentially just editing everything around the playing surface. In The Show/baseball the playing surface is literally different in every ballpark, and it could open a whole can of worms in potential bugs and gameplay issues. Everything's hard coded in NBA 2k for example: here's the court this is where out of bounds is and half court, etc. All the stadiums in the game already are hard coded as the where the dimensions are - what's a home run - Once we start modifying those things, look out.
With that being said, I would love just the option to have 5-10 created parks to select as my own (All Star Baseball 2002 had this option)Comment

I'm more interested in the combination of them creating more generic stadiums to choose from, but giving us the ability to create teams, uniforms and replace teams. expansion drafts and such like that.PS5 SN - smurf922Comment

Re: Expansion/Create and Customize Stadium
There was a comment from SDS a while back, that essentially said that if a create-a-ballpark feature were to be put in the game, no other updates could be made to that year's edition, as it would take that much of their resources to complete.
I think that's the paraphrased version of it...someone might have a better recollection of the exact words, but I think that's the gist of it.Atlanta Braves
