Re: Franchise bug, beware!
I've played over 80 games already in mine. Season 2.
So in conclusion, the 4th offseason is the problem, and we cant offer arbitration to players. Is that it? And the only season it effects?
And the workaround is set it to auto for a day or two and let CPU offer contracts.Comment

Re: Franchise bug, beware!
Guys, I simmed last night and didn't encounter any problems. I simmed again today to end 2023 and still didn't encounter any problems (patch 1.06). Maybe I'm missing something but I uploaded of all 5 years for those that want to see the sim in action.

I think I may have found the cause. If im right it shouldnt take long to confirm and its a fairly easy "fix".Comment

Re: Franchise bug, beware!
speaking of testing, I was thinking last night that what we need to do or companies need to go back to doing is full-time testers. companies used to hire what was the full time live in testers.. all they did for an entire dev cycle was test the game as it was being built.
I think each person would have different areas of the gameplay to concentrate on or whatever but I remember seeing stories and videos on this year ago. if companies went back to full-time testers from start to finish we would probably have more polished games once they came out.
if it worked for 8 and 16-bit game types why not now. just play the game and report what you're seeing as you play it... it doesn't seem right... just let them know. or even give them ideas on how to make something better somehow as the game is being developed.
Simple answer: the ability to patch
Why hire people when they can make money off a game and fix it or not later.
They care about the bottom line, not if everything is 100% at launch

Re: Franchise bug, beware!
I'm going to play a franchise game real quick as we are in between storm systems here. After that, I'll run the sim to see what I find.
Willis..
I ran a sim on my carryover and didn't run into the issue. I got thru 4 seasons before stopping to play.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: Franchise bug, beware!
If the season ending to early isnt the issue then its one hell of a coincidence.

In this video the first sim has the last game of the playoffs on October 25th. Go into the offseason and the bug shows up. Load up from the start of the same playoffs and this time the last game is on the 27th. Go back into the off season and no issues. It seems like anytime the last day to exclusively negotiate with your own players falls in October it screws everything up.
Which makes sense now that the season starts a week earlier than before. No one would have known to look for the bug if it never showed up. And so it may not actually be fixed in new a new franchise the patch. We may have just had the playoffs take longer. Ill test real quick to find out.Comment

Re: Franchise bug, beware!
From what I can tell it should only been an issue when a season starts on March 25th or 26th. So 2020, 2021, 2026, 2027, 2032, 2037, 2038 and so on.
And I can confirm that its still and issue on new franchises after the patch.Last edited by HozAndMoose; 04-03-2018, 07:58 PM.Comment

Re: Franchise bug, beware!
Yeah when its your own team and you are going for a sweep or something I would just save before the series deciding game and then see what happens. So say you are going for a 4 game sweep. Save after the 3rd game. If you win the 4th quit before going back to the main menu so it doesnt save. Then reload and force yourself to lose a couple games before forcing yourself to eventually win so the world series starts later.
