I have read as much as I can about this, asked a few questions in other posts, and have tried everything I know to do, but it seems every year and this year arguably more than others, I just don't get a realistic number of extra base hits, especially doubles.
I lead the league in home runs but I'm nearing the bottom of the league in doubles. It's either a single or a home run for me, rarely anything in between.
I say this not to complain, but genuinely trying to find an answer. It seems like some people don't have any issue. I try every year to use directional hitting and I'm not going to catch slideritis over this. For those who hit a sufficient amount of doubles using directional hitting, what is your strategy? Does pushing up and in on the stick result in more doubles in the gap?
