    Re: Constant dabbing

Haven't probably played around 50 games so far and haven't seen one hitter "dab" I may have seen the outfielders do it once or twice after a game. I guess I could agree the after hit celebrations are a bit overdone but it doesn't really bother me most times my guys do a mild celebration after getting a hit...nothing I don't see Correa or Springer doing irl

Added to the game is one thing.... I'm all for showing some emotion.... but every hit? It doesn't bother me as much as some but it does get OLD quick. If a guy did this everytime he got a hit he would look like a leopard with the amount of bean balls that would pepper him in the following at bats. I play alot of RTTS and my created player does this nearly everytime. Sometimes it IS a subtle fist pump or a point to the dugout and it gives just the effect desired and is cool. The intent is a good thing....but it's overkill. The timing on some of the stuff is off. Give me a "dab"....or fist pump when you drive in a run to tie the game or get a late game hit. Down 9-0 or up 9-0 isn't what the community had in mind. You see the same thing with the pitchers. I've seen pitchers who just gave up a 5 run inning act like they won the game because they got the final out finally. Same with the rain.... it makes RTTS aggravating. You will play an entire 4 game series in a monsoon.

Don't make any mistake about it.... I love the game and would be afraid to look at the hours I've logged playing it already. My wife could probably shed some light on that.....

Got to cater to the kids, so dabbing, bat flips, dancing in the outfield and all that jazz are all in it and will only get more prominent moving forwards.

It’s not actually catering to kids though as all the stuff you mentioned is in the game today.

Granted some of the celebrations/bat flips are over the top for video game purposes, but the addition of these celebrations and bat flips are due to them being in today’s game.

I have fun with the celebrations and bat flips....as you can go in and out and equip what you want. If I'm in a rivalry series or with a team I hate.... I like to equip a little more attitude. I don't like the real over the top celebrations...but like to equip some of the player ones. I like Bryce Harper's and McCutcheon's. I think the HR animations and celebrations are a nice touch....as you can control when you want to see them in the modes I play in.

Just because some of these things sometimes, very rarely, happen in real life doesn't mean including them in the game isn't an attempt to cater to kids.

It's just like the over the top celebrations and skills moves on FIFA. Sure they sometimes, incredibly rarely, happen in real life but the game makes them much more prominent because they know kids find them exciting. Making it "cool" takes priority over making it realistic.

It's no coincidence that both EA and SDS have made these gimmicky things part of their advertising campaigns as they know it will attract a certain demographic.

For now it's just a minor visual annoyance that has no impact on gameplay, but it's the thin edge of the wedge. You really don't want to get to the point like FIFA where these things actually hugely influence gameplay. (skills moves)

I don’t think I would classify the celebrations as happening very rarely in the game today. Turn on any game and you’ll see it happening quite often

And the community asked for celebrations.

I’m not worried about them going overboard and having a guy first pumping after a base hit affecting gameplay or his attributes

How many giant bat flips do you see in the average game of baseball? How many dabs? If odubel Herrera and Carlos Gomez aren't playing, that number is probably zero in 95% of the games you watch. You might get the odd little thing like a little fist bump, a point to the dugout or the Mets weird salt grinder nonsense, but it's generally all pretty low key as players really don't like getting fastballs thrown at them.

I've nothing against the addition of a bit more personality to the players, but they've given everyone the same personality, the personality of a clown player like Carlos Gomez.

As for your last point that is clearly facetious, making the game more arcade and less realistic is not some ridiculous, never going to happen concept. Just look at other sports games.

They have quirks for players, this should have been a quirk for 'Showboat" someone who celebrates and has over the top bat flips and then "Stone Cold" a person who is the ultimate professional and never celebrates. Then have the rest of the players set to like 30% celebrations or only do it for huge moments. Just an idea but I agree it is bothersome to see some of these players act completely out of character in game.

I said celebrations, not bat flips. And in the Show, I have yet to see a dap or a giant bat flip. I’ve seen the celebrations that I see on tv. This is franchise mode.

I don’t believe that SDS will ever steer completely away from realism in favor of Arcade gameplay.

The gameplay today in’18 is by far the most realistic playing baseball video game I have ever played. The gameplay gets more realistic Year in and year out and I don’t see that trend changing anytime soon.

I'd like to have your faith in SDS's unwavering desire to make the most realistic game possible, but given the way they've chosen to allocate their resources over the last few years, I really can't tbh. They will follow the money and if they decide that's in going more arcade, they will go more arcade.

It gets ridiculous sometimes - but I just roll with it.

Getting upset will just ruin my enjoyment of the game.

Would have been nice if they let you equip one or none like the HR celebrations.

Also having a selection of real emotion display...like they do the HR celebrations.

But overall it's like "meh" for me and, generally, I like the emotion/personality being part of the game. It could be improved but it's not making me want to stop playing or anything of that nature.
