    Re: Rain delays?

I would love to see rain outs that lead to double headers as well, but that imo, presents a big undertaking for the dev team.

The system would have to be able to:

    1) Find another scheduled game between the two teams to play the double header

    2) If no other scheduled game, find a shared day off to play the game. If no shared day off, then determine at the end of the season if the game is meaningful enough to be played

    3) Increase the rosters for the double header game to 26 man and then reduce back down to 25 man after the double header day.

While all of that is possible to put into the game, it does create a big task to ensure that the AI can handle not only the scheduling of the double header or make up game, but also be able to do the roster changes as needed. Then it becomes do you have randomly scheduled double headers for CPU vs CPU games or is it just human controlled games?

Again, that seems to be a big undertaking and quite frankly, you're asking this from a dev team that is struggling to get their current system to accept rotating interleague schedules. I'm not saying that as a shot at the dev team, but that it doesn't appear that it would be as easy to implement as we would think it maybe should be.

Right now it is very abrupt and doesn't seem to have much affect on the game. We should see fans running for cover, standing in the concourses, players goofing around in the rain, tarps being put onto the field. There could be much more presentation that I am hoping they add next year.

Also, would love doubleheaders. I'm really hoping that comes next year.
It does effect pitching. Hopefully they will improve but they still haven't improved manager challenges.

        Re: Rain delays?

Had a 1p start at Fenway with most of the seats filled..Rain was pouring down..Umps call a delay during the 2nd inning for 45 minutes..After the delay the rain had stopped and it remained overcast...

What I did like was that most of the stadium had cleared out and I was left playing to a barely filled Fenway park on a Sunday afternoon...

Just out of curiosity does the CPU have any rain delayed games in franchise where the user is not involved?

I can't say with 100% guarantee, but I believe when it was discussed with devs it was stated that it only effects user controlled games.

              Re: Rain delays?

I played a game in the rain today just because of this thread and the announcers mentioned something about the potentially being delayed and then about 2 innings later it finally happened. Here's the thing that made me ill about the timing of the rain delay. Braves vs. Phillies, Folty vs. Nola. I'm up 2-0 going to the bottom of the 6th. Gave up a solo HR to Nick Williams to start the inning. Williams was 3-for-3 against Folty in the game. I just couldn't figure him out. I got an out and gave up a double to Hoskins. So situation was 1 out with a runner at 2nd. I intentionally walked Carlos Santana because he's been red hot and I decided to go after Franco who's hitting under .200. Mistake, Franco crushed one and just like that I was losing 4-2. I struck out the next batter and then they called for the rain delay. Had they called for it earlier in the inning I probably win the game instead of losing 4-3. Folty was running out of gas and I was trying to nurse him through the 6th and the rain delay would have caused me to pull him.

But there was bad A.I. in the rain delay flaw. The Phillies after a 45 minute rain delay, plus a long offensive inning, kept Nola in the game for the 7th. That would have never happened in real life. We're talking about like an hour and 30 minutes between pitches for Nola. There's no way he stays in the game in that situation, especially going into the 7th inning. SDS needs to address that situation and make sure that gets adjusted.
