Yes patch updates change things. The majority think the changes have been for the better.

If I'm not mistaken he recently said he was a believer in the comeback code, but now he doesn't anymore, but now it's back. Guy needs to just say it once and let it be.Comment

Well for what ever it’s worth I’m playing at the 1.06 level and am very happy with how the game plays. I’m strictly offline franchise and single season mode so I don’t bother with most of th GM stuff...Comment

In my opinion this years game plays great. I’m playing franchise mode and while I do have games where the CPU controlled team mounts a comeback I feel it’s usually the result of my pitching. If I keep getting guys out with a slider away they start to look for it. So as soon as I notice hitters changing their approach I change how I pitch.MLB: TORONTO BLUE JAYS

I would like to know how many people who experience “comeback AI” use the pitcher/batter analysis tool

I think there's a lot of "Placebo Effect" in here. I realize everyone's experience with the game is different, so maybe he is seeing something and it could be tied to his settings and his difficulty/sliders.
For me, the only real change I've noticed (on the field) is the pitch speed increase, that said I play pretty close to default HOF with a few minor exceptions.Comment

Re: I loved this game when it first came out, but the patches have ruined it for me
The biggest thing I see is hits. To my mind, which I fully understand is probably biased toward my opinion, I find hitting considerably different. When the game first dropped I found that anyone at any time could get a hit. All types of hits and it felt organic and very, very awesome. Now I find that at least 50% of all hits (CPU included) are opposite field/center and they seem to only come by what seem to be predictable situations. There are just way too many opposite field hits for me to look past it. In every situation I see opposite field hits and it's really lame.
I can count on 6 things happening each and every game, and they are all hitting related and feel much different than when the game released.
1 - The CPU will hit my pitcher with a line drive and get on base.
2 - I will hit the CPU pitcher with a line drive and get thrown out at first.
3 - The CPU will slip an infield single straight up the middle (usually bouncing off the mound rolling ever so slowly into the outfield).
4 - The CPU will get an opposite field hit against the shift no matter where I pitch the ball/what type of pitch. Said hit usually results in a stand up double.
5 - Following the opposite field hit the CPU will get another hit and/or sacrifice fly to bring in the man on second base later that inning.
6 - I will square up a fastball that's right down Broadway (almost always the inning after the CPU gets their opposite field against the shift examples I listed previously, which just makes it seem predetermined/predictable) for a popup that rarely leaves the batter's box.
Still love the game. It's the best iteration by far, but I do struggle with these situations and since the last patch I turn off plenty of games because of these positively predictable situations. Prior to the last patch I didn't turn off a single game in frustration.Comment

Re: I loved this game when it first came out, but the patches have ruined it for me
Tell me your secret because I would LOVE to get a lot of opposite field hits with Joey Gallo and my power LF in my Marlins carryover since the game shifts against them.
Those pull-heavy hitters...pull the ball a lot for me.
I would love to get some of these opposite field hits as consistently as I've heard said occur to happen for those two.
