Countyboy...
SO happy you started a thread like this as these forums have become reminiscent of negative “Yelp” reviews. I LOVE this game, Love the series in general. All the negativity around here drives me nuts & I wish more people would stick up for this game!
As an offline Franchise guy, I don’t need MASSIVE franchise improvements. Just keep updating rosters, adding more animations, build to the commentary & keep adding more subtle “little things” & I’m good annually...
Frustrated that a seemingly simple improvement wasn’t made while time was deligated improving another mode? I get it. But frustration levels wouldn’t raise so high if this game wasn’t already SO DAMN GOOD! I mean, do the other baseball titles receive this much hate? No. No, because their expectation levels are crazy low...
Hey, Developers! Want to make under the hood changes to gameplay through patches? Please do! Just make sure gameplay changes evenly match slider increments. Meaning, if you want to raise universal pitch speeds, simply have the pitch speed match exactly 2 or 3 pitch speed slider clicks, then tell us about it. Want to make the PCI smaller? Please do, just inform us that raising contact 2 or 3 clicks will increase the PCI back to it’s original size prior patch... a LOT of backlash would go away here IMO if people weren’t constantly having to re-learn this game or/and having there franchise stats compromised deep into their invested seasons...
Thanks again Countryboy for opening this thread. A “Happy Place” where we can come & share joy about this titlle is long overdue... Hopefully this thread won’t be moved to “Gameplay Impressions” as it deserve to stand alone

Ps: Legend default sliders with zone hitting? Even after this last PCI size reducing patch? What camera angle are you using?Last edited by GWPump23; 06-02-2018, 11:12 PM."Never go short in the land of plenty..."Comment

No problem
Yes even after this patch. I hit using the wide camera view. Helps me recognize pitches pretty well

I know the feeling "countryboy", I'm enjoying it too. Now my skill level isn't up as high, but I'm playing on All-star hitting & pitching. Using slider's set combination between Armord Sword & Mike Lowe. Every game is different. Pitching performance varies. The game makes you pay when you a mistake sooner or later. The graphics really pop to me. The details on the field. MLBTS 18 Its pretty darn good!

Re: After 100 games played, MLBTS '18 continues to amaze!
I agree with pretty much all the posts in here. It’s refreshing to see a thread that focuses on the positives of this year’s great game.
Not knocking any of the other members or their threads bc I think it’s great to point out negatives of the game in hopes of seeing improvements, but a lot of those threads have become toxic and seem to overlook the awesome game we have this year w/ MLBTS18.
I’ve been playing this title for years, it’s always my number 1 game played every year, and it it will definitely continue to be that way with this year’s version too.
The gameplay is fantastic, the presentation and colors have been greatly improved, and the numerous modes available will keep me playing until 19 comes out.
I’m mainly a franchise guy and I am loving it so much this year. Yes, it didn’t get a massive overhaul or anything, but it capitalizes on an already great franchise mode from years past. It’s enough to keep me loving it. Loving it so much that I keep getting 1-2 months in and want to start with another team! Lol
But like countryboy has mentioned, the gameplay is where this game shines. I play with Mike Lowe’s sliders and bumped up from HOF difficulty to Legend. I was apprehensive at first because HOF gave me a pretty good challenge. But I’m so glad I made the switch. My games are awesome, challenging, and have plenty variety. Pitcher’s duels, slugfests, blowouts, etc....I get them all this year. I used to want to win all my games back in my younger years...I thought that was fun. But this year’s game gives me the normal ups and downs of a season and simulates real baseball very well. I actually enjoy losses from time to time lol. I find myself trying to stay above .500 and concentrating on just trying to win the current series instead of just worrying about my record. I love scouting and eying the rest of the league to determine what moves might help my ball club. Keeping track of my minor leaguers and their performance to know when to make that call.....all these things make this game great and a great representation of MLB baseball.
It consumes my life more than it should but I ain’t even mad about it (my wife is sometimes though lol). Great job, SCEA and great thread, CB. I enjoy following your franchise and all of the other fellow forum members that post in here as well.
Happy gaming guys! I gotta go try and win a series [emoji1308]Comment

Re: After 100 games played, MLBTS '18 continues to amaze!
After my game last night against the Marlins, I hit 100 games played in my franchise (this includes the AA, AAA, & MLB All Star Game as well as the Futures Game) and this game just continues to amaze me and continues to deliver easily the best baseball video game simulation/experience that I have ever played.
Every single game feels like its own game. I continue to see new hit types/varieties. New ball physics that I hadn't previously seen. Every game seems to have a moment, a play, or few, that stick out, that I can look back over my season and the box score and remember something that happened in that game. Ok, maybe not every game as I am getting old, but for the most part I can remember something about each game.
Through 100 games I've experienced blowouts, been blown out, cardiac wins, heartbreaking losses, and the unforgettable. I've had pitching performances for the ages and pitching performances that I can't forget quickly enough. I've seen plays that drop my jaw and mishaps leaving me to wonder how in the hell this player is a major leaguer. I've run across the most unlikely of heroes and I've seen the best of the best at their worst.
I've seen balls that curve perfectly down the line and get into the corner allowing an easy double and if the runner is quick enough a stand up triple. I've seen balls that seem to hang in the air forever as they "float" over the wall for a homerun. I've also seen balls that you think are going to get down, hang up long enough for the outfielder to make the grab. And I've felt the satisfaction of a pure line drive that splits the gap and rolls to the wall for an extra base hit.
I won't/can't call MLBTS '18 the greatest sports game ever because honestly baseball is the only sports video game I play these days. But I will/can call it the best baseball video game I've ever played.
Baseball is by far my favorite sport. I played from T-Ball to College. To me there is no other sport like it. And MLBTS '18 does a great job of recreating what I experienced on the field, on my TV.Currently Playing

Re: After 100 games played, MLBTS '18 continues to amaze!
I’m currently .500 on year (50-50 lol)
I lead the majors in strikeouts as a pitching staff and am Top 5 in ERA. My team batting average is last in the majors but getting better since hiring new hitting coach. I am Top 15 in homeruns hit.
Any specific stat or questions let me know.
I hate sliders. You spend time trying to “perfect” the game instead of playing the game

Re: After 100 games played, MLBTS '18 continues to amaze!
Your batting average is low, because your babip is low, because fielder reaction and speed are too high. I doubt any hitting coach will be able to change the bibip much!
That is my attempt at sounding like i know exactly what im talking about lol. That is the first thing that i think however, when i read about your hitting. To me realistic babip is the only way for a game to get close to realistic hitting. I dont see how you can get even close to a realistic amount of base hits on balls put in play with default fielder sliders. You probably actually do, I just wish i could lol!
Any idea what your babip is?Comment

Re: After 100 games played, MLBTS '18 continues to amaze!
Lol alright.
Its very easy to figure. (H-HR)/(AB-HR-K+SF)
This is the one stat, in my opinion, that really needs to be updated and put in the game. Surprised it isnt already. It will be at some point im sure. This isnt really even a "sabermetric" stat, as its very basic and important. I would much rather have this stat than some of the saber stats that made it into the game.Comment
