Re: After 100 games played, MLBTS '18 continues to amaze!

After the new patch, I was having a terrible time hitting the ball. However, something recently clicked and I'm back to hitting the ball like I was when the game shipped. Really the only thing that bothers me now are outfielders, they seem to miss too many easy plays (user controlled). Or maybe that's because I'm playing with the White Sox and Nicky Delmonico stinks in the outfield haha.

Anyways, this game is amazing and I'll definitely be playing it until '19 drops. Even though the Bulls were terrible, with the NBA playoffs going on I've been playing 2K18 a little bit as well. But the Show takes up pretty much all of my gaming time. I don't see that changing.

For whatever reason, roster-wise I like to mirror what's going on in real life. So I'm dying for the Sox to call up Eloy and Kopech so I can call them up in my franchise as well.

I don't, and it doesn't really bother me.

Those crazy trades made in 2015 in my carryover don't really impact things in Year 14.

So I just move on. Myself as GM of the Marlins dictating what the GMs of the Brewers and Rays do is no more realistic than any trade they might make.

Baseball is like that. It's pretty amazing, and I think this video game does a good job representing a facsimile of actual baseball.

I wish I disliked baseball...or this game (but not really).
I had my Brewers on a 6 game winning streak to start the season. Swept the Padres and Cardinals. I was thinking "Man, I might have messed up the difficulty here or something..." despite 4 of the 6 being tight games, and 2 of them being relatively late come-from-behind victories.

Nope. Started playing the Cubs and lost 4 of 4.

Man I love how this game simulates/replicates the ebb and flow, ups and downs, of a baseball season.

In a 3 game series against the Phillies we were knocking the cover off the ball. Homeruns, doubles, and triples galore. 3 game series against the Brewers and we are struggling to get a simple single. First game against the Reds of a 3 game series and we only manage 4 hits. Game 2 we hit 2 grand slams in the same game.

Man I love baseball and MLB The Show '18 does a phenomenal job of replicating/simulating the sport that I so dearly adore.

Completely agree. The word 'amaze' is accurate. I have had the same thing happen. I started this franchise absolutely crushing line drives, but literally 70% of them turned into outs (usually that would be closer to 70% base hits). I was hitting line drives right at people. I knew those line drives would eventually turn into hits so, although very frustrating, i was still happy with how i played even though i was losing. (Frustratingly satisfying). Then, it got to where i couldn't hit hard line drives, but i got lucky and had a lot of bloop hits just clear the infield and i racked up hits and won some games. Then I got one-hit a few days later. Then, i had games where i was getting so many hard hits i almost felt sorry for the pitcher lol.

The ups and downs are so true to the real game, i dont know how they create something like this honestly. I have loved the Show for years, but this year's batted ball variety and game flow take the realism cake by far. Each game takes on a different distinct personality just like real life.

I cant wait to play tonight.

I had a complete game shut out (3 hits) with Chris Sale against the Rays. Next game David Price gave up 5 runs in the first 2 innings then his replacement Steven Wright gave up another 2 in the 4th. Luckily I was matching them on offence with JD hitting a oppo grand slam with how good the hitting is after patch 1.10.

Tied 7-7 coming into 6th I spent a good 5 minutes trying to decide whether to try and squeeze another inning out of Steven Wright against the top of the order. In the end went with Matt Barnes who had a quick 1,2,3 inning. The drama then continued with CJ Cron and Hanley of all people trading Home Runs. I managed to lock down the win with Kimbrel in the 9th but sweated on every ball. Red Sox 12 runs 12 hits, Rays 9 runs 16 hits!

It was the most amazing game I have ever had in years playing the Show. Your right about the game replicating real life only trouble is I feel like I am aging like a MLB manager!

Hit my 95th hour in franchise mode this cycle. Almost at 100 hours. And this game is still simply fantastic.

In a 3 game skid in my 2017 Year 2 Yankees franchise. Looking to snap that tonight vs The Rays. The AL East is very tight as I hold on to a 1.0 game lead over the Red Sox, 3.5 over the Blue Jays, and 5 over the Orioles and Rays.

The way the games play out - just never know what you'll get And that's good because you never know when that big rally, key mistake, sudden weakness in the ace, etc. will occur and how/if you will be able to exploit it.

If you have good sliders and on a good difficulty level for you, and a "10 games isn't much of anything" mindset, the game plays out well. Like the real game, you'll get those weird stretches and oddball games sometimes.

I don't know how many hours I have but I'm at about 75 games in total across my franchises. Some of these games are still "never seen it play out like that". I still remember that weird 6-run rally...never seen anything like it.

All i know, is that in my Ranger's franchise, since Patch 1.11 dropped i have suddenly been in a major slump. I was hitting great before then, so surely it can't be coincidence. My guys cant hit and i have lost 5 games in a row because of it. 5 players in my starting lineup are listed as "Cold". Lots of weak grounders and not many extra base hits. I have struck out more than usual. Home runs have been rare too. Its very frustrating. Patch 1.11 has somehow really affected my hitting since it dropped.

The crazy thing is, i never downloaded it on this machine. So somehow Patch 1.11 has magically infiltrated my PS4 and affected my hitting ability.

Either that or its just baseball being baseball. Not sure

I'm only at around 40 games, but I'm in love with 18. No two games have been alike, and the new camera angles and stadium additions have really improved the experience!
