Is it just me or is the CPU offense incompetent?

Im playing on legend and they cant ever seem to square up anything. I rarely ever give up more than 4-5 hits a game. Mostly little weak singles. I literally have never seen them hit a ball to the warning track. Im so confused. It wasn't like this in previous versions. Even against scrub pitchers they can't hit anything. Anyone else experience this? Everything else is playing great but it's just boring when I know the cpu offense isn't a threat.

I definitely am not experiencing that. Not dismissing your experience though. What pitching interface are you using? Are you playing on default sliders?

I've used meter and felt it was too easy and then switched to classic and same results. Yeah default legend. It is very frustrating. What sliders/difficulty are you using for pitching?

I pitch on Legend also. I was using default for a while but didnt seem as realistic as i like, and i wanted more accurate babip, etc, and wanted pitching to be more difficult, so the first thing i did was lower human control and consistency significantly. I have one set that i have used at 1-1, or 2-1 control and consistency and i had to lower cpu contact to 4 to compensate, and solid hits to 2 or 3 i believe (dont quote me exactly but thats close) I had really good results with that, and the cpu is dangerous.

The other set im using is a slightly adjusted version of FenwayMac's Legend sliders, and the CPU has been very challenging on those.

I have used both meter and analog and they both work great.

Okay I am really happy you posted this. I put consistency and control for user pitching at 1 and 1 and I input FenwayMacs CPU hitting sliders. I tried a game against the Yankees with my 5th starter and I got shelled. Final was 11-5 Yankees. I gave up 2 homers, 4 doubles, and 4 walks. Im super happy about it too lol. I really think consistency and control at 1 and 1 has everything to do with it. I very rarely ever walked anyone before on default legend. Thanks.

Not in my experience. I pitch on Default Legend using the meter interface. There are games where I pitch extremely well and shut down the offense and then there are games where the wheels fall off and I might as well put the ball on a tee for the hitters.

Could be small sample size for you, but you may need to bump up something. Ive tested sliders all over the place and none felt realistic or challenging with out lowering consistency or control or both. My team is ranked 26th in pitching attributes but on default i rarely struggle pitching. It happens occasionaly but usually i can pitch without much thought. After lowering them, i have to think about every pitch, the hitter, his quirks, his hot zones, the situation, etc. Big hitters feel very dangerous. Sometimes you just want to pitch around them and let them take the walk in the right situations. This makes it feel like baseball to me.

You may consider raising one or the other because 1-1 the CPU is very dangerous. Ive moved it up from there a notch or two. But at least you know how to make it challenging now, you just need to find your sweet spot.

I like for some of my low-level pitchers to struggle hitting his spots occasionally. Occasionally i aim inside and the ball travels across the plate outside. Sometimes even for a strike. Yet i had Hamels go over 100 pitches and he was painting in his last game. Perez just had a game like that too.

So you may try bumping up control or consistency from 1 until it feels right. Fenway has control and consistency at 1 and 4 and we get good results with that. Check out his stats on his OP. They are pretty spot on, realistically.

I'm not sure why guys use other peoples sliders. Only reason would be that they have the same "talent" with a controller/eye sight, etc. and use the same difficulty level.

I've never played this game unless I put in my "spring training", or single games v. the CPU prior to my franchise. That way I'm pretty comfortable when I do start my franchise. I rarely even touch a slider after that and just got with the ebb and flow.

Same here. I wish i could show everybody my data from all my testing before i started playing my franchise. I play with every team and i get in
100 to 200 games. That is also my "spring". Its a blast for me. I have my own sliders developed from that. That set, i do not touch unless i see something definitely unrealistic. Occasionally i find someone who is dang close to mine, or plays similarly. And im always looking for new thoughts amd ideas, whether i incorporate them or not. I have multiple franchises with different slider sets but I let my main franchise play out.

However many people dont have the time, patience, or get any enjoyment out of testing sliders. They just want to play the game. So it only makes sense for them to use someone's set that does, and then adjust.

My friend that i play with every year (we both play offline franchise with the same team start at the same time and send each other stats as we go through the season) he doesn't have time or understanding of sliders to do this, so he uses mine. And each year he has similarly realistic results as me and we have a blast comparing stats. In 2016 i went to the playoffs but he didnt make it. But last year i didn't make it, but he did. So far this year we are pretty even, but he has a better record than me.

You're a rare breed CB, a rare breed, indeed. I try default every year but i always have to adjust to fix some things. Straight default just doesn't do it for me on many levels (however i used your idea early on, and went default hitting with my other sliders, which i had not tried because i had already moved on, and it worked like a bute (beaut? byoot? ))

Fielder speed is really the biggest thing i have to change. Most others are at, or somewhat near, default. Just a few tweaks to default and percentages line up for me.

Exactly what I did in my franchise, I used Spring Training to get my sliders set the way I wanted them. Pretty much had them perfect by the end although I've just adjusted the difficulty so I might have to make a few more adjustments.

I also use default sliders and find I get a realistic enough experience just playing on dynamic difficulty
