I'm getting an uncomfortable feeling patch 1.12

is going to be the end. Unfortunately gameplay is the worst of all the patches.

    Oh well.

So far so good for me but wasn't there one for 17 in like, September?

So don't give up hope on one more for 18, maybe even two.

Foul Frequency is broken with the patch. My slider is at minimum and CPU is routinely fouling off 6-9 pitches per at bat.

        6-9 per at bat?

Holy crap, what total pitch counts are you seeing with all pitchers combined?

That's just it, I can hardly foul off jack squat. I foul off maybe 3-4 per at bat. That's a realistic amount from the baseball I've seen.

The AI will literally foul off almost anything and everything.

Pitch counts usually wind up being standard but I'm patient so I can usually get 6 or 7 pitches per at bat out of them. But in this recent game against the Tigers, not so much. Hector Santiago had 89 pitches by the end of the 5th compared to 37 to Jordan Zimmerman.

Also, I've seen the AI get some unrealistic steal jumps. James McCann, Victor Martinez, and Miggy are getting insane jumps on steals. Castillo can hardly get the ball there. I can hardly throw out anybody.

Yeah that would be approximately 220 - 330 pitches per game if it was an average scoring game.

I can't speak for what the patch did or didn't do regarding fouls, but i rarely have seen the CPU generate even the MLB average of foul balls.

Im curious to know exactly many fouls and pitches are being recorded.

Eh, first 3 innings are usually smooth. By the end of those, I usually only have thrown about 30-40 pitches. I guess when the AI begins to realize your pitcher is tired, they start fouling everything off, unrealistically at that, to get your pitcher out. Seems like it's just a mechanism that they broke with the latest patch.

This happened rarely before this patch and it's happening twice in this game I'm playing now. Juan Minaya is getting a little tired and they're starting foul off everything.

Not to ask an obvious question, but are you attempting pick offs to keep them close?
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

It's literally impossible for the pitch counts to be "normal" if you are seeing 6-9 foul balls per at bat by the AI.

Couldn't find recent numbers but a few years ago the average number of pitches per game was somewhere around 150.

The situation you describe would be AT MINIMUM 189 pitches per game, and that's in a perfect game with only 6 foul balls per at bat. Have you thrown perfect games in any of these games?

You're exaggerating so much that you aren't helping yourself.

Yep. 2 or 3 pickoffs and a pitch out or 2. Usually 2 pitchouts if I'm up 0-2 in the count.

If you are fouling off that many, then you are fouling off way too many yourself. Foul balls occur less than one per MLB plate appearance on average. Something closer to .70 per PA.

I probably shouldn't have described it as "per at-bat" because the earlier innings 1-4 usually go by smoothly. When my starter gets tired is when they start fouling off crazy amounts of pitches. It's likely a strategy programmed into the AI to force your pitcher out of the game. I was also leading in this particular situation, so that would likely amplify it.

While I'm a patient hitter I like to swing sometimes too. I would be fine if the AI fouled off 3 per at bat

I think without actual foul and pitch numbers its difficult to know anything. Sometimes its hard to get a true feel for it in the heat of battle. How many games have you experienced this?
