    For the truly dedicated.

How many of you guys play every pitch, every game, no matter what? I have always done this and while I don’t always make it through an entire season, I just can’t ever bring myself to simulate or even use quick counts.

Right now I’m almost into September on my franchise, and this was with me taking about two months off of The Show this year. I typically get through one season and into year two, but I’ve never gone further than that. I have a friend who played through five or six years, playing ever pitch, every game.

I have also always been interested in the idea of carryover franchises, but I always just like to start back over with the real players that have been signed and traded for in the offseason.

What’s the furthest some of you have gotten playing every game, every pitch?

    Re: For the truly dedicated.

I will typically get through 3 seasons. Thus far I'm in August of my 2nd year with MLB '18. I'll play until the release of MLB '19 next March. I use the carryover franchise feature, so what I do is make sure that I'm not in the middle of a season when the new release comes out. I like to complete the offseason in the current year and then carryover to the new installment.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Gotcha. That makes sense. I just can’t ever bring myself not to start over once the new game comes out.

        Re: For the truly dedicated.

I'm in year 2020 of my 2014 carry over playing every pitch of every game.

I only play spring training until the team is decided. That usually, but not always, takes every game.

I used player lock for one game when the feature first came out. Never used it since.

Love it. Love having my own universe. I love the created players that are unique to my universe. There is always the temptation to go back and play with real players in the back of my mind, but anytime I start a new franchise I just end up missing the team that I've built with my own two hands (and some significant "cheating", thank you broken trade system!).

I average about 1.5 seasons a year, but I play the Show year round. I tend to binge and fast on it. Currently in a binge.

I’m the same way. I HAVE to play every pitch so that all the stats are mine. And I like to start fresh with the new game, so no carryover for me.

I’m only 35 games in after starting over about a month ago. I’ll finish the season. I’m hoping to skip MLB 19 and get 3-4 seasons out of 18. We’ll see.

MLB 12 is the only time I finished a season. Lost to the Yankees in seven games in the World Series. Went through the offseason and played about 10 games of the next season.

Yep. I want all the stats to be, “mine,” as well. This year I’m 120 games in and I rank around 12th in on-base percentage and I’m middle-of-the-pack in walks. That’s probably what I’m most proud of, haha. I usually rank 25-30th in walks but this year I’ve done so much better.

I cant lock myself down to one way of playing. My Braves carry-over has a No Sim Policy. Same for my Orioles yearly one-season and done. But I also run a yearly one-season and done with Seattle, Colorado and the ChiSox. The Mariners season this year was with quick counts. The Rockies season started out as a play one, sim two but it's on hiatus till November. The Pale Hose season was one game with quick counts, one full game No Sim, then one game quick sim. In the past I'd also do a Pittsburgh season but I bailed on that this year, the NL Central just didn't appeal to me in 2018. Maybe next year I'll return and play it something along the lines of pitch only in home games with QC on and bat only in road games with QC on.

I commend y'all that play every pitch. I get too invested in the prospects I've traded for and drafted, so I love simming and seeing those guys progress through their careers. But it can be infuriating to have a guy that's rated well but just doesn't perform for whatever reason.

I guess it's also cool, but I'll rake with a guy or be lights out on the mound when I use them, and they **** the bed in sims. Then I trade them or let them leave in FA only for them to explode with a different team...

I’m the same way. I have to play every inning or the stats aren’t “mine”. That’s why I typically pick teams that can compete in the current year because if I’m going to play all those games I want to play in the playoffs. If I decided to do a real rebuild, I would prob sim some years to get the team how I want them and then play every game, but I haven’t gotten into that yet.

I’ve always had a bad habit of starting and stopping tons of franchises every year because of rosters, changing the difficulty, staleness , etc. This year I completed a full season and lost in game 6 of the WS with a fantasy team and now I am 70 games into my restarted Yankees chise that I am going to play all the way through. I actually have a few other franchises I’ve been tinkering with too, I hope to finish 3-4 full seasons in this years version of the show as this is the only game I play anymore and I’ll play it year round until ‘19 comes out since I love Baseball.

For me it isn't as much about stats as it is about the journey.

I look back and remember things like seeing Alex Gordon make clutch plays or watching Mike Trout progress from a middling power hitter to a record breaking champion under the tutelage of Jose Bautista.

I look at now and see the fruition of my 2014 first rounder Jose Lozano absolutely dominate on the mound with one of my favorite pitch sets, or see the results of my patience with players like Luis Sardinias or Trey Bloom, both of whom after years of struggles and bouncing between the various leagues, landing on solid ground and becoming superstars.

I look to the future and I see a whole host of fun prospects to potentially play with, all with interesting quirks and unique roles they could potentially fill.

And all of this started in 2014. It's the best of both worlds. I get the enjoyment of playing my team today while I'll be playing with players in the upcoming draft literally years from now. It's pretty epic.

                      Re: For the truly dedicated.

I'm in year 15 of my main carryover - all pitches every game.

I get 1-3 seasons done, depending on life and how frustrated I get with the sliders and getting to play realistic tendencies, not just realistic results.

This year I'm in second year. Moving slower than usual but still all pitches of every game.

For me, it's both stats and storylines. Knowing my man Boeve and his 200+ wins, ridiculous win rate, sub-2.00 career ERA, 2000+ innings, 3000+ Ks are all "mine" is a point of pride, and also makes me realize how special it is to have a guy capable of it because I've not come close with any of my other arms, even ones with similar ratings.

Heck, even now he's owning and he's got worse ratings. He and I just click I guess.

That's why I love every pitch of every game. Finding out those things, for whatever reason, that just happen over a season and over the years as you grow to love and learn your guys and their quirks, and find the "hypersensitive" and the ones, like Boeve, that don't give a crap and a "bad day" is 7 Ks in 8 innings with 2 runs allowed.

I try to play all 162+ (though I have yet to make it)...I generally will try to match the actual starting lineups for that particular game (at least for my team) and I play every pitch/inning..As people mentioned before, I like the stats to be "mine"..Only once have I tried quick counts, wasn't a fan..

I'm in year 2020 which is a carryover from MLB '16. I enjoy watching teams develop. Like the Padres who are now a playoff contending team after they signed Manny Machado 2 years ago. They are currently in 2nd in the West behind the dynasty Dodgers.

Teams like the Red Sox and Yankees are in a sense rebuilding, as they continue to get younger players. The Tigers and Twins are forces in the AL Central and the Mets are dominating the NL East. Hell the Reds and A's were playoff teams last year.

And I do the same of playing with future draft classes. I enjoy watching how these "future" MLB stars develop in my franchise.

with limited gaming time, i would rather make it deep into a season(s), than not even make it to the end of a season while playing every game, every pitch. The way I play, I still get plenty of in-game time while playing alot of games. I start every game in Quick Manage. Innings 1-6, if I'm batting, as soon as I get runners in scoring position, I jump in(innings 7-9 I play each at bat). Innings 1-9, I jump in to pitch if they get runners on. Some games go quick, some dont.

I usually play each game of a division series, all but one game of national league games(I play with the Cardinals), and just one game of American League series.
