AHH!! I missed the closed alpha. I got an invite. Just turned on my PS4 and saw that I had a message for the invite. It never alerted my phone like I have it set up to do. It's downloading now. I'll play whatever I can. I missed out on 18 because I am still playing 17 but I hope I can add some feedback for 19.

And I’m even less inclined to be an early adopter next cycle after upgrading to the Pro this year.
As it stands, I have no plans to even buy a PS5 until the 2nd or 3rd year its out. UNLESS. Unless the Show on PS5 Franchise mode jumps from 90 man rosters to over 200 players to an organization. I guess thats what they mean by system seller. The funny thing is I bought my ps4 within the first 2 months of release but I didn't exactly buy it for the Show. I bought it in anticipation of a game that never even made it to PS4: NCAA Football 15 lol

Come to think of it, thats why I bought a Vita

considering one of the next few iterations is going to debut on the PlayStation 5. I can't consider this a make-or-break year for MLB The Show. To me, I expect marginal improvements while the team revs up for the next generation of consoles. That is frustrating to say, but PS4 is a bit of a lame duck console right now.

Yep. We're looking at two years too since MLB The Show 2021 will be the first on the PS5.

I tend to agree player models have really lagged behind other games this generation. Stadiums, fans, and general lighting/textures have improved dramatically during the PS4 era, but SDS needs to aim for 2K player models with the added memory and RAM the PS5 will provide.

Yep, they send me a damn code Today as well, but the notification says Dec 12th but it only showed up today after the beta is closed.

like most of us, we want to see changes to Franchise mode.

but I just do not have much hope in terms of changes for Franchise mode as most Solo modes are phasing out due to the Fantasy game modes.

you see it in almost EVERY Sports game now a days.

with that said. i bet like the past few years, they will have 1 or 2 devs doing stuff for Franchise just to give it a slight change, but like i said, i dont expect any major overhauls now or even in the near future(im talking even in like 3-5 years)

Almost their Entire Dev team has probably been tasked with additions to DD now and we have see this the past few iterations of the game with very little change in all other modes EXCEPT for DD.

They'll probably make half breed games for the first few years anyway that work on both consoles, that's what they usually do. So they probably won't be making use of the better console anyway tbh.

The show 18 was the best baseball game I've played and I've played them going back to micro league baseball.

That's franchise - manage mode once they finished patching the gameplay.

I'll buy 19 just to support the developers but I may continue playing 18 because gameplay in manage mode is so good and I'm sure 19 will require the usual months of patches to get it to play right and even then there is no guarantee.

I'll buy 19 but might continue playing 18.

Definitely! a make or break! Look out for my post later today to see why!
Too many gameplay issues not addressed for far too long in my opinion.

I felt the game started to become stale a tad as 2017 didn't excite me so I didn't pre-order it. After seeing some initial impressions on the forums, I bought it on day-1 and played it a decent amount before it hit the shelf by the time summer came as it just didn't have replay value to me.

Last year, I waited a bit and bought it in the first week but after playing it about 50 hours...I just got too frustrated with hitting and the lack of features in franchise mode.

Fast forward now to 2019. What will they do to make me feel like this is a must buy? This is the first ever that I'm truly not interested in the buying the game unless they make marked improvements with core features and core gameplay. Hitting CONTINUES to be an issue and I just have not had fun hitting - I think the devs see this and its why they are constantly updating feedback, mechanics, etc...but that's one item. Franchise mode, player models, player attributes, the list goes on where I think it's become stale.

So is it just me? Anyone else feel like 2019 is a make/break year for the Show?
I think I was two years ahead of schedule. Haven't bought it in two years. Last year's dummy-down of franchise mode was it for me. All I wanted was editable coaches, realistic contracts, minor league deals, posting system, international free agents, and the like, and instead of just the same stall franchise mode, they slashed the existing features. Hoping there's some effort this year and I might jump back in.
