That is one of the big issues I have had with the show on ps4. The show last gen was by far the best looking sports game out there when it comes to graphics not talking about animation just its graphics. Now this gen nba live, nba 2k both look far better and madden looks a little bit better and nhl may be right there have not played nhl after like 16. I am a more casual baseball fan but graphics not being has good has they should be has been a big turn off for me this gen. Over all mlb has played a great game for a long time but its graphics and the fact that the CPU still dont really known how to use there bullpen something that has been a problem for has long has I can remember, and bunting not being good for has long has I can remember has made the game fell stale for the last several years then there is franchise mode still lacking some things.

There are honestly so many legacy issues with the game that we overlook because there are no alternatives, but these issues have gotten so that this is no longer a day one purchase for me. I've named them in a few other threads so I won't here, but until these issues are addressed, I'll delay buying until I read the real reviews, the ones from the OS community.

The more I think about it the more I'm deciding that maybe for the first time since I started playing The Show back in 2006 I may skip the game next year unless there are major upgrades for next year. There are other games that I'm gonna spend my money on.Atlanta Braves
Atlanta Falcons
Auburn Tigers
Detroit Red Wings

Re: MLB 19: Anybody else feel this is the make/break year?
Throughout the years I've always been a offline Franchise player. This year I tried out DD and I loved it. Trying to complete challenges were a cool thing to try and accomplish, especially being an ex-trophy hunter. Grinding so many games on Rookie though took a little bit of the fun out of it, and I mean a little bit cause I still had a ton of fun. I definitely got my replay value's worth. Next year though I'm gonna go back to Franchise (to start anyway).

I do agree with most peoples opinions that there needs to be a fairly significant overhaul in some parts of the game.
To me, the fielding is the biggest need of change. It doesn't feel like a) its a challenge or b) that I have any control over it. They need to use the analog stick for throwing and make it accuracy based as well as let us control exactly how much urgency we put into each throw. More urgency should = less accuracy. Let us have more control.
Throws from the outfield are the absolute worst case for this. SOOOO many times a guy with average speed hits a liner to RF and ends up at second because my guy is taking his sweet time throwing the ball in. Or the fielder gets stuck in the animation of him bracing himself up against the wall and what looked like a borderline double ends up a stand up triple. This to me needs a complete overhaul and player ratings need a larger impact when it comes to fielding.
I think for the most part the gameplay is pretty spot on aside from a few things(fielding). Pitching could use an overhaul as well and obviously things like presentation get stale as it does in every sports game when you have the same few guys every year. I would say this though, go and play a few games of NHL 19 and listen to their terrible commentary that they just overhauled a few years ago. It is painful to listen to and extremely repetitive. I have no doubt that the guys working on The Show could do a much better job, but usually the first few years of new commentary lines are pretty thin.Comment

Re: MLB 19: Anybody else feel this is the make/break year?
The more and more I keep playing 18 the easier it is for me to wait and see. I just don't have the burning need nor desire to run out and grab 19.
I don't grind DD so that is not a factor at all. I am simply jamming my franchises and classic rosters and loving it.
I truly hope SDS changes my mind over the next few months by reveling some serious love for Franchise mode and presentation upgrades that will simply blow my mind. If not.....18 will be my game for a while and then after all the game play patches and what not...we can grab 19 to transfer over the franchise files.
This is the first time since I started playing The Show I have felt this way....it is a double edged sword as that is how awesome 18 is for me.....but also the cold reality that I don't expect any changes that are significant to Franchise mode to make me run out and buy 19 right away. I am also not the kind of guy that must have the most recent roster....because that is simply not important to me. Especially with carry over saves and my universe evolving every season.
If you are a heavy DD/online player....yeah getting the new game makes a lot of sense.
Anyway looking forward to the information coming out and the usual stream cycle for revealing new features and improvements.
Back to playing 18 though....it has been console baseball heaven for me.Now Playing on PS5:

I’m with you A&S.. spot on. For the first time, I am contemplating not purchasing the annual release. It more so comes from a place of 18’ giving me everything I want from a gameplay aspect, and the only thing missing is more “franchise TLC.” If I don’t see that in the pre-release run up.. I have no qualms with playing 18 another year as it plays a damn good game of baseball.

I think throws home from the OF are the absolute worse. They're never on target, even with guys that have great throwing attributes. It's even short throws that are way off target.Atlanta Braves

It also helps that we can download updated rosters to 18. Sure, we don't have updated schedules but that's not that big of a deal, at least to me.Atlanta Braves

If it is then Sony is in deep trouble. The "certain letter of the alphabet" I can't comment on is a carbon copy of MLB18. It showed nothing new. Pictures. Sure. Innovation. Umm. Nope. I think I didn't break anything there. LoL. Boring year so far. I hope they listen to the feedback. Because so far so bad... LoL
