Not only is comparing an alpha build of MLB '19 to that of a completed game, that has been patched, of MLB '18 unfair and misguided, it is also extremely misleading to a community that may contain members or visitors who did not get a chance to participate in the closed alpha.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

If it is then Sony is in deep trouble. The "certain letter of the alphabet" I can't comment on is a carbon copy of MLB18. It showed nothing new. Pictures. Sure. Innovation. Umm. Nope. I think I didn't break anything there. LoL. Boring year so far. I hope they listen to the feedback. Because so far so bad... LoL

Re: MLB 19: Anybody else feel this is the make/break year?
I wouldn't be shocked if what you say is true, but: (1) the game isn't finished yet so there could still be some [minor] additions made in the next couple of months; and (2) they might be withholding some code so that features don't leak out during the testing (if I were SDS, I 100% would not trust the alpha participants to keep things confidential like they are supposed to). I know absolutely nothing about software development/coding, but perhaps some of the new additions (if any exist) might not be coded into the alpha version. That would seem plausible to me at least. Then again, we might be sitting here in late Feb/March saying "my goodness, they really did nothing to innovate this mode/that mode once again this year." Too early to tell.

Re: MLB 19: Anybody else feel this is the make/break year?
I'm not watching a 19-min video about something I'm not participating in, so I'll just take your word for it. That as a given then, it would seem to be a mistake reading too far into what features are baked into the alpha version. Kinda what I figured. We'll know for sure in, what, 3 months or so.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

All I will say is carbon copy. LoL. Thus far.

I can see why this game has fallen off course gameplay wise. Basically ever camp is well represented all chirping on the way they feel the game should perform. I would not even know where to balance based on feedback from all fronts.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

The alpha is not a sneak peak (I feel it is a big reason many sign up). It’s about getting the a,b,c ‘s of the games core gameplay balanced. I would expect a carbon copy of 18 in regards to the visuals for this.

Yeah I would expect some changes. None. What so ever was a shock.

Freshening up the game, especially franchise, will keep my attention for a longer time.Comment

Re: MLB 19: Anybody else feel this is the make/break year?
Franchise, though, is make or break. I didn’t make it to an off-season last year knowing that the team building aspect of the game saw minimal improvement. Contracts, trades, free agency, winter meetings ... something needs to change to make the Show more like 2K. And given the importance of prospects in baseball, that area should get more love.
I’ll also second fielding as the biggest gameplay enhancement needed. It just doesn’t feel authenticate, challenging, or ultimately rewarding. When you blast a homer or strike out the middle of the order, it feels good. Making a nice play in the hole doesn’t elicit anything, and that’s a huge opportunity since you have to make 27 outs, many of which happen in the field.Comment

Re: MLB 19: Anybody else feel this is the make/break year?
Probably not make or break in 19 but SDS needs to act with a sense of urgency anyhow because while the Show is the "only" game in town right now, as soon as RBI can actually compare anywhere near to the Show, that wont be a good sign for SDS because RBI will have an advantage in that its not limited in scope to its market. RBI coulf generate sales
the Show can only dream about. RBI could be a cash cow with Nintendo xbox playstation and even possibly PCs.
The time for the Show to act is now and put a boot on RBIs throat so to speak. SDS has done a wonderful job over the years but the video game market and especially baseballs corner of it, is too fickle and volatile to rest on their laurels.
TLDT 2020 or 2021 is probably closer to a "make or break"Comment

Re: MLB 19: Anybody else feel this is the make/break year?
The Show for me is a game where I emphasize 99 percent of my time in Franchise mode, but they’re starting to not do enough in that phase of the game. They put too much effort into perfecting Diamond Dynasty to care enough. Also they are slowly improving the commentary and it should have a lot of changes this year. I’m worried most about if they can continue to implement new features that seem to be too much for PlayStation 4 console to handle. It’s getting to that point now where you are limited with what can be added feature-wise like challenge systemComment
