Much more like one of the other 2 changing. Those spots have become a revolving door. Easier to keep it fresh that way. Matty V gives it the stability it needs.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Respectfully disagree. Can’t have the same voice forever. I think he’s the longest running voice on any sports game. Close to a decade or more by now.

I don't disagree that he's gotten stale, but I'm not willing to give up the kind of massive voice bank that they've accumulated. Be prepared for commentary to take a massive step BACK if they ever do replace him. If you think it's repetitive now....oh boy.
Edit: Harlan debuted in NBA2K6, which released in late 2005. Matty V's first appearance was when SCEA's baseball series was re-branded as "The Show" - 2006. Let's just say they've both been around a really long time, and are mainstays of their respective products.

Re: Any chance of a new play by play voice?
Matty V won't be going anywhere. In my opinion, he's the perfect announcer for a video game and even if his voice/the presentation has gotten stale, having less than eight months of a new play-by-play announcer's voice won't be better than eight years of Vasgersian's.
An idea that I saw thrown around somewhere would be to have different styles of presentations for each of the three themes. MLB Network would be consistent with MLB Network irl and the other two themes would each have their own identity as well.Comment

I remember seeing Plesac confirmed on Twitter that he’s back in MLB 19.Comment

Just wondering. I like Matt Vasgersion. But it’s been a while. Maybe time to freshen things up? Presentation wise...

They are far better off just swapping out the other 2 guys with new people once in a while to provide a fresh feel and continuing to build on what they already have then getting rid of Matty V, losing all that commentary, and basically starting over.Comment

Re: Any chance of a new play by play voice?
The thing is, if they replace Matty V they lose all the years worth of commentary that’s been built up with him and I don’t think it’s worth it. They definitely wouldn’t be able to replace all that would be lost before the next game comes out. You’d get a fresh voice but the commentary overall would take a significant step back and the issue of it getting repetitive and stale would become much worse then it is now.

Re: Any chance of a new play by play voice?
New voice, old voice... I don't care. Re-record every line that is not a player name, though. Create a new structure and algorithm. Don't have run-ons. Don't have specifics that can't be applied for any and every player.
I would like only one color commentator though, and if two I don't want them to sound the same.
Definitely new PA announcer. New style, new swagger, new excitement, new ambiance.
EDIT: And to MLB14, although I'll contend he doesn't sound like he's reading a script, he also doesn't sound like his real life counterpart either. I think the best thing that the team can do is find actual audio bits of him saying every line that they'd like to hear, play it back for him, and have him repeat it exactly as sounded. Whether dull or exciting, etc... get out more than just what's in a script. That would take lots of time and research, but it would make the difference for sure.Last edited by Blzer; 12-26-2018, 03:42 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Any chance of a new play by play voice?
I'd like to see 2-3 different commentary teams. Two for MLB games and one for minor league games.
Not a fair comparison but NBA 2k did it this year even though it was short in MyCareer having Chinese commentators and G-League commentators.Comment

If you combine the little details from The Show and NBA 2k you’d have a perfect sports game.Comment
