Re: Nine 'Little Things' I Want to See in MLB 19 The Show

I think it was World Series Baseball on Sega Genesis (one of the early adopters of an inaugural fantasy draft if memory serves) that allowed you to do cartwheels around the base paths on your home run trot. I always found that kind of cool where I'd try to get in 8 cartwheels between bases when you could usually get about 7.

In terms of 'priority' this doesn't even register for me, but I thought it fit the genre of "little things" well.

Triple Play 98 was ahead of it’s time. Trivia questions even the aerial fly ins at the start of each game. Made you feel like you were at an actual game. Great article as it’s the little things that can make it more fun. Even the simple take me out to the ball game song by the fans in the 7th inning stretch was cool in Triple Play 98.

I don't ever count this, but I bet there are 4-7 broken bats a game on average. You'll never tell unless you listen for it, but it's there. The splitting ones are a rarity.
Also, the maple bats should break easier than the ash bats.
That would be a nice touch on the little things

Very good ideas here. I’m certainly hoping for something to freshen things up. The Show is sensational and you don’t mess with a good thing by reinventing the wheel. But it has gotten a little stale the last few years.

No bubble gum and seeds being spit! Especially in domes/retractibles. The grounds crew has to clean that shtuff up! Every.....friggin'.....night!

            Sorry....triggered.

I'm hoping they find a way to make the game feel fresh again.

While it absolutely needs to be better there is dynamic commentary. I play every game every pitch in my Yankees franchise and they have had plenty of dynamic storylines I have heard about players and the seasons they are having.

Its there but if you are not playing a ton of franchise games and sim a lot you will miss it.

Also as great as 2K is it all gets old too.

But I really would love to see a lot more dynamic commentary especially in terms of historical matchups which they started but we need far more like a real baseball broadcast.

I agree 100% with that. I also want more all-time and team records. Just like stats being a big part of baseball, records are to. We need all the records in the game. Even a top 50 or 100 list of the all-time homerun leaders etc.

                    AMEN!!!

Imagine taking these retro rosters, and actually playing out the chase to 755 with Junior, Bonds or Big Mc.. or 62.. or chasing down the hits records with Ichiro..

Its a game of numbers. The numbers should be there!

I would trade a lot of the "Little Things" that would be nice additions to the game, for the one "Big Thing" that I have been waiting patiently to be included...

                      Player Collisions.

I am amazed that we have guys that will throw a tantrum if the color of the wall underneath the center field scoreboard is the wrong shade of white, but an outfielder and a shortstop running through one another, with no regard to the whole "two objects not occupying the same space" rules of physics, is perfectly acceptable.

Player collisions between defensive positions happen from time to time, can result in pretty horrific injuries, and would be the perfect situation to include a "call for the ball" or call-off button, when lining up to catch a fly ball.

Honestly, I could care less whether or not the fog that rolls into the stadium comes from the right direction based on the axis of the seasonal azimuth, but watching players morph through each other seems to be an oversight ten years in the making.

Maybe someone could freelance a Madden or NHL guy for an afternoon, and get some tips on how collision detection works.

                      There's my Little Thing.

I'd love a selectable option on singles and walks. Things like "feed me more" or pointing to dugout, etc. at least a handskake/fist bump from the 1b coach, taking off equipment, etc.

I'd love awards/records noted somewhere in the Player Card/Player Profile = AS 2016, 2017, 2020 MVP 2019, GG 2018, SS = 2021 (and definitely mentioned in the commentary)

I want the option to change/create uniforms, relocation, customize my own stadiums. Stuff we can do in NBA2K. So I can create a full league of MLB teams in Buffalo, Charlotte etc

Yeah the game “skate” had this. You could pick 4 reactions with the directional button after you landed a trick. You had like 10 gestures you could pick from and select 4 to the direction button.

This could be cool when playing against each other.

One "little thing" I would like to see is updated player portraits as the season goes on. Once the season starts and Kikuchi is officially added, I want to see his actual Mariners portrait. Or if Mad Bum is traded at the deadline from the Giants to the Braves, I would like to see his actual portrait with the Braves cap, not a cartoon.
