I really get tired of seeing that snorting Coke picture

So for the record that is Alex Lifeson the great and legendary guitarist from my all time favorite band Rush. He is a well known jokester and that is a picture of him snorting from a bottle of Coke.

And that is my avatar.......forever. Sorry it bothers you.....that is the first time anyone has ever taken offense to it. But I love Alex and his sense of humor.

So speaking of competition. Those were the good ol days right fellas? I am talking about the PS and PS2 days when we had 3-4 football games, 3 baseball games, a couple of hockey games, a couple of really good basketball games.


Those days seem like ancient history.


I really wish another company would set up and make a legit simulation style console baseball game.

I mean we have Super Mega Baseball which BTW is a fantastic game for what it represents. Arcade style baseball.

RBI has been a dreadful mess since it’s reboot.

EA seems to not want to bring back the MVP series.

I don’t think there is a big appetite for another MLB game with the size and scope to compete against The Show.

And part of that is a testament to how strong The Show is and their fan base.

But man those days of being able to play different versions of the same sport were good times. The Show definitely took some elements from the MVP series and I also wish they would adopt more (their player morale system was great, create your own ballpark, their owner mode was cool, fully playable A ball).

I think we just need to keep asking for some key features and also insist on under the hood tuning to AI.

I think Franchise mode is strong on The Show. The heat it is getting is the snails pace of new features and nothing has been really overhauled since 2009.

IMO the most important thing that needs to be overhauled and rethought is scouting, training and player development. This is where a game like OOTP shines and the depth of that is fantastic and IMO there is no reason we can’t get a better more robust scouting and player development system.

That is the biggest meat and potato part of running a franchise. Team building. It is essential and it can be a lot better. I pray they eventually hear our cry on that. I really thought the move to PS4 would see the evolution of this area of the game....and it simply has not happened.

Player personality was worked on with quirks and morale but again...it has been left alone for the most part and it could evolve into so much more. The ground work is there. We just need refinement in that area.

I am very curious about presentation for 19. If that get’s a nice boost that can go a long way in immersion in your franchise universe.

First stream tomorrow folks.......let’s start at least getting excited to see the gameplay improvements which are always welcomed!

Same here. I'm a huge Rush fan. I even knew Armor and Sword is a song off their 2006 album Snakes and Arrows (the best song on that album imo). Had no idea that was Lifeson. Still don't see it to be honest.

Don't wanna turn this into a Rush thread, but I've been wondering for so long who that was in that picture. I figured the joke was him "snorting Coke" but it's kinda blurry. The more you know! I can't read the name Alex Lifeson without thinking about his Trailer Park boys cameos. Quality stuff. Also, the guy asking you to change your avatar to something moral is the funniest thing I've read this year. Bless his heart.

Good article. The only way we can get SDS to listen to what we want is to hold off on the pre-ordering and purchase of the game. Which btw i'm planning to do this year.

Make it known to them that the fans who stood by you over these years will not accept the effort that is put into making this game.

If it's a resource problem, hire more staff to work on the game. And like the Brian mentioned in his article, very little has been done to innovate and make the franchise mode better for over a decade now. This is unacceptable imo. A large number of players play franchise mode and it disappoints every year. We've been asking for additions to franchise mode for years now but to no avail. If they don't care what the fans want in the game, then we don't care about your game SDS. It's about time we did something about it!

The touched on what I'd like which is adding to franchise mode with create-a-team which already exists in DD added to franchise. They don't need a new gimmick mode, just add to what is already there.

Adding yet another mode would only pull developers away from existing modes.

This was the first album I bought with my own money.

I decided to get my daughter hooked on rush, but I am well aware that if I tell her something is good and she should listen to it, she won't. So one day when she was in the kitchen with my wife while I was playing around in Rock Band, I purposely chose Closer to the Heart because I knew it would get her.

Later, she asked to see Rush with me on their Washing Machine tour.

Guys, let’s move on from the Rush discussion please.
