A word about DD. There is a specific niche that it fills for me, and that niche should be evident if you look at my #3 - I just like to play a lot of one-off games vs the CPU. Part of that is because I simply enjoy the game of baseball, part of it is that I don't always have time to commit to the many details of Franchise mode. So out of those 270 hours, a whole bunch of it was spent pitting my DD team vs the CPU, on the highest difficulty I could play and have a fun, winnable challenge - that eventually became Legend. In the process of doing that I completed a lot of programs naturally and improved my team - I almost never felt like I was "grinding", it was simply just enjoying playing the CPU, because I was challenging myself. I did dabble in H2H play long enough to reach the Division Series in ranked seasons, but that was early in the game's lifespan - later in the year (and even now) it's been all Franchise.

126 hours of franchise - which is still going up, btw - is no small amount - twice the length of, say, a 60 hour RPG (which as long as it's a good game, I feel like I've more than gotten my money's worth for that length of a game). And that's just one part of the game - I've probably gotten what I would consider my money's worth (that's $60 btw - I didn't spend a dime on DD) ten times over or more.

Great read bcruise. A lot of good input by everyone. A lot have me thinking of giving DD another dabble for 19. I love playing baseball. It's the only game, win or lose, good outing or bad, I always enjoy getting to the next game and seeing (franchise) where the year goes and (rtts) the next challenge and growing my player by how I play (this year's version) being penalized or rewarded.

I played a few hundred hours of DD on 15. That was the most I ever did. I would play it a lot more if they had a much better offline offering in terms of seasons etc. It is a fun card collecting mode because I love baseball cards.....but the grind is real.

I may take BCruises approach and simply do play now games....that is a great way to just play and do programs naturally and I never even thought of that.

60% Franchise 40% RTTS.

I have played around 5-6 years of franchise. I sim 2/3 of the season and play 1/3. In 16 the show, I simmed 20 years and played with all created players. It was fun until my dynasty of players retired or left due to free agency and I didn't want to rebuild again. Also the poor framerate and loading times of PS3 were annoying. For 18 the show, I play with the Bluejays. I have a good team there.

I have played a lot of RTTS recently. Trying to keep my player's stats as realistic as possible, so I have been bumping up the difficulty as my player gets more and more better. I have been playing on all star and my player is very streaky. One week, I'm hitting .400 with 3 homeruns, the next I hit .200 with 0 extra base hits. Not exactly but around that. I want to be more consistent. I only do hitting so it goes quickly and remains fun. Fielding, even as a shortstop got boring. Stealing bases is too easy with showtime. I wish they created a new mechanic with it that made it more skill based but still fun and not too punishing.

Roughly 95% of my time is spent roster editing and the other 5% actually playing the game in franchise mode. I was probably lucky to play 10 games of MLBTS18. Definitely going to change that this year.

I started my mlb the show journey on PSP. Believe it was MLB 06/07.. Had a Rtts player played all the way 2026 only simmed 5 seasons. Since then I'd say I'm a 90% rtts guy.

MLB 17 I really got into DD, but got overwhelmed as I don't have time to really focus on pumping out challenge and all the things you can achieve..

I admire franchise, but never reallly finished a full season. I do enjoy player lock franchises though with good sliders

For 2018 I was franchise 100% but only because RTTS was limited by archetype caps and was generally not enjoyable for me. I hope this year I will do both. 75-25.

Historically I have been a MoM gamer (Manage Only Mode). But with MLB 18 I got into RTTS and I have several RTTS players I am thinking of carrying over into MLB 19 if I end up buying the game this season. I am still on the fence but it should be pointed out that I have bought the game every year since 2012. So I likely will be playing RTTS in MLB 19 come March 26th and beyond.

100% franchise and only franchise. Okay I take that back. Sometimes when my time is limited I go into practice just so I can get some swings in.

If moments is what I think it is I may dabble on that a bit this year as I love historic game modes. One of my favorite modes in the WWE 2k series is the showcase mode re-living past great moments.

Not counting playtesting, I'm up to 100% in franchise these days.

If March to October is the season mode replacement I hope it is, then I can see it digging significantly into my franchise playtime.

I'll also probably restart my RttS characters in 19 (assuming I get it) but just like every other year I've tried RttS, I doubt it will go anywhere. I've always liked the idea of building a character into a super-star, but I just get so bored. Why limit myself to one role when I can play all the roles?
