Thanks for the clarification. Yeah, I could not understand why they would limit it to only winning.

Re: Why I'm cautiously excited for March to October
It could be this as you said, or I’m thinking it could be a trial run for a way to kind of give franchise more playable options, I would say depending on the feedback on this mode in addition to the analytics they collect could steer them in a direction where they fine tune this aspect. Then you could have a mode that allows the traditional franchise way, or a refined version of this mode for those not trying to grind out 162 games and do all the things that are involved in a franchise, or I could see them adding more elements to find a happy medium, sort of a new spin on just playing a single season, or picking a shorter season, or just playing an entire 162 games. It will be interesting imo to see how well received this is and if enhanced further, how it develops moving forward.Nintendo Switch

Re: Why I'm cautiously excited for March to October
As a very casual fan of the show, and a hardcore baseball fan, this appears to be exactly what I want. I want to run through a whole season in a couple weeks. Then try again with a different team. There’s just simply no way 162 games could ever happen. Ever.Comment

Re: Why I'm cautiously excited for March to October
I am going to play March To October with the Yankees on HOF right after I take the shrink wrap off the game.
And yes I will be streaming the crap out of it.
Really excited to play this mode.

This whole situation reeks of needing an extra bullet point on the back of the box to sell the product, as opposed to creating the best possible product for the consumer.

Re: Why I'm cautiously excited for March to October
So there’s an article on MLB.com featuring all the potential milestones that could be hit this year. Which got me wondering if they were able to include these in March to October? That would really sell me on this mode! Since the whole idea is that it creates stories, if they were able to actually feature milestones being accomplished and make a big deal of them. Like give me the game where I can get CC’s 3000th strikeout and include some cool commentary and maybe an animation of him stepping off and waving his cap. Man if they could add(I’m just kind of assuming they haven’t) those things for this mode that wound be incredible.

Re: Why I'm cautiously excited for March to October
Seriously, people downloading OSFM rosters account for less than 5% of their sales, if they sold 1 million copies. And can we really assume that 100% of OSFM downloads are for franchise? I doubt it, since I downloaded those rosters and never play franchise, but like the rosters for Play Now.
At some point we will stop saying there is a right or wrong way to enjoy sports and sports games. All SDS is doing is trying to make the game that will make as many people happy as they can. There is nothing wrong with them believing that focusing on sim has stunted the game's growth.
Sports thrive when casual fans become engaged. You might be surprised at how many people in the average baseball stadium could not name more than one or two minor league players on their team's AAA club. Hell, you might be surprised by how many can't name more than two relievers.
Professional leagues would fold up and go out of business if they focused only on the die hards. Instead they offer bobbleheads, Star Wars Theme nights, and so on.
Sure, there are plenty of hardcore fans, especially here in St. Louis. You can hear them on the radio all day, talking about how the Cardinals owners are cheap and don't care about the fans. They screamed at how overrated and terrible Joe Torre, Tony Larussa, Mike Matheny were. They let you know how the players are lazy and just aren't trying.
Hardcore fans are at their worst when they are acting like gatekeepers, designating who the real fans are, and how games are supposed to be enjoyed. And publishers, like team owners, would really wish they would stop it.Comment

Re: Why I'm cautiously excited for March to October
I’m excited for MTO. I plan on playing it a with almost every team because I love playing with random teams in 30 team control franchise but it doesn’t get the true effect of playing big moments and making a season long playoff push with random teams I never have before.
Seeing who comes up clutch and who crumbles in a given situation is going to be a lot of fun.

Re: Why I'm cautiously excited for March to October
So what’s everyone’s early impressions? Overall I LOVE IT so far. I was up to 2:30 last night stuck in the “im just gonna do one more situation” loop haha.
You can edit all your lineups and make subs from your bench which is great. Wasn’t sure that would be in. Only big downside is you can’t change who your starting pitchers are. So as the Yankees I’m stuck with Jordan Montgomery as my 5th starter instead of CC. Had some outside hope that getting his 3000 K would be written into the mode. Although I’m sure once he gets it, it’ll show up in the actual moments thread.
But yeah really digging this mode. Nice mix up of stuff to do so you’re not just playing the last 3 innings of a game over and over and over. Love it.
