Well guys, it is what it is....as long as they throw a small little bone in franchise I am ok with it.  I believe we won't see any new franchise features in this generation of the PS4 but will likely see it in the next gen(PS5)..I hope anyways!..lol  Looking forward to MLB19 and how it plays.

Honestly, contract extensions alone makes the game worth the price of admission.

Don't get me wrong, I hope that there is more in store for Franchise mode, but that alone is a big one for me.

No not really. I mean, there is gameplay in every single stream they do. They show off all the new stuff so I get my fill that way. I get more out of that than if they released a full game or something and I had to try and figure out what was new myself.

FWIW, contributors to this site spend their own time and money away from their families to present news/content for the readers.

Whether the information provided is what you want to hear or not, telling our contributors they're "wasting their time" or they "should have just stayed home" is truly disingenuous. They're all doing a service for your enjoyment.

If not then it’s probably best to just accept that this years Show might not be for you.

I really hope we are pleasantly surprised with some shocking franchise news in the stream but I really don’t see it happening. From a marketing sense it doesn’t make any sense to sit on it and if that is what they are doing than kudos to Them for fooling me but I fully believe , with how vocal people have been about the lack of franchise improvements over the last few years, if there were any significant changes it be the first thing we would hear about.

As for myself as a franchise only guy, If it turns out the only real benefit of this years game is super refined gameplay, im OK with it.
Honestly I can't believe I'm saying this but the addition of Mark Prior and Kerry Wood in DD might be the reason I buy.

That was a little in poor taste. But some of the comments about the "hands on preview" only being 30 minutes isn't meant to be a slight at the contributor. He can only accept what they offer.

I think more of us are little shocked that SDS would offer a "hands on preview" and only allow the contributor only 30 minutes. A lot of good could have came from him getting an extensive look at the game and then reporting his findings back to us.

SDS seems to be very secretive about gameplay this year, and quite frankly it's a little weird.

There's still an embargo on full reviews and uncovering material. There are parameters around what can be reported.

Balls bouncing on dirt have seemed reasonable, but on grass have been all wrong. So I hope they didn't much with the dirt bouncing is all.

Otherwise, this is a big thing that I'm glad they have focused on some. It didn't seem to show as such in the Twitch stream two weeks ago, but I guess we'll just have to assume that they've been on it since hen.

Wondering if the changes to pitching will require me to drop back to Hall of Fame instead of pitching on Legend?

Guess I'll have those 28 games or so of Spring Training to find out.

And yet managed to somehow not really show any raw gameplay footage.

Right. Instead they show off what new animations and features have been added to the gameplay. The point of watching raw gameplay is to look through and see what looks different and new. That stream isolated what you’d be looking for and featured it. It’s not like they’re keeping all footage of the game under a shroud of secrecy. It’s going to look and play like it always does with the new stuff they showed off added in.

At the same time Mercury watching clips of "gameplay" in a controlled environment, does not really refelect what the user will experience either. in a sense I saw more gameplay (someone holding a controller and actually playing) in the moments stream than the gameplay stream.
