Don't get me wrong, I get it. If you aren't happy with the direction (I'm not) don't buy it.

But it won't result in more future work on franchise if we hold a great walk out.
Yea I know, I got carried away, i'm just disappointed

Honestly, I am as disappointed at the rest of the franchise guys. I think it will have some good play telemetry, but more than a run through or two will not appeal to non DD guys for the lost part. I do think it is worth a shot though with your favorite team.

Most won't bother to transfer the saves to a franchise but if some small subset do make the jump and a few players in that subset stick it out and enjoy the mode enough to continue playing it, then it is a net positive.

Not necessarily. When you consider the opportunity cost of doing this instead of working more on franchise mode. What about the folks like me that stop buying it altogether? I'm not sure what the net effect would be.

A few more players turning this into franchise won’t “move the needle” on telemetry that would help them leverage actual franchise cycle dedication.

Why are rotating schedules so hard? Has this ever been explained in-depth?

It seems like for franchise, SDS finds reasons not to do things. But for DD, they always find a way to actually do something. I wonder why.

Honestly, it's at the point now where if they don't add something significant to franchise soon, they will be bleeding players rather than gaining them.

If there was a stepping stone between the two extremes (Mto and franchise) then maybe you'd get a significant transfer, but the two modes seem too opposed in terms of target audience to get a significant boost to franchise.

Also, I feel if that was a genuine priority then they'd have not put in the rewards that prohibit the ability to use custom rosters (or even better, have the option of using either default rosters for rewards, or custom rosters that disable rewards). If you could use custom rosters then this would be a potentially very fun way of going through the first year of a rebuild, but if you don't have mini Vlad, Bichette etc waiting for you at the start of next season then I just don't see much point in transitioning into franchise

This BS narrative that MTO is going to lead to franchise is a fairy tale. You must already have an affinity towards that style of play to be interested and get involved in that type of grind. Simming and playing as little as possible is in direct conflict with franchise play. So stop it with this fantasy and let's be real.

Yep, I don't see how a player interested in short, quick games/modes would all of a sudden flip a switch and want to play a longer duration game/modes.

Something that caught my attention in a video earlier this week was Ramone saying it was a "contract" year for franchise...which I know was targeted toward the addition of extensions and real contracts...but could it have actually meant as being decision to finally abandon it??? Maybe I'm just reading too much into that quote but...

I think you are reading too much into it. They basically make minimal changes each year, so they can just copy and paste the mode. Also, for guys like me who play franchise and DD, they would lose my sale and cash that I drop on DD. I have a feeling that they would be cutting their nose off to spite their face.

Not to mention that there is zero care on Sony's part as to whether MTO ends up transferring players into franchise mode or not. Why would they even care? How does it benefit them to make it feed in? They make zero extra dollars if this happens (which it probably won't).

It just doesn't make sense on so many different levels, yet some are trying really hard to make this line of thinking stick.

MTO can be a new mode just for the sake of a new mode. Its existence doesn't hinge on some weird justification for how it dovetails with a different mode. Having it be some feeder into franchise mode that will change people's gaming habits and preferences is a very large leap in logic.

Well with that logic they might as well take Franchise mode out right now. Since according to you there will never be any new players to Franchise mode EVER!! I mean if nobody new will ever find any interest in the mode why even play it any more.

I am a "franchise guy" all the way but some of you folks are making it pretty embarrassing and hard to have any sympathy for the rest of us.

Spot on. The ends don't justify the means. I think if they genuinely wanted to make improvements to franchise it really wouldn't take that much work. None of us are really asking them to reinvent the wheel. Heck I'd settle for a revamped scouting and training system. That alone would be worth the price of admission. I know SDS likes to say they have one guy who is dedicated to franchise but I don't believe that. I believe they spend zero development time on this mode. The proof is in the pudding.

You could argue, "well they put Heidi in franchise mode". But I guarantee if she couldn't be included in other game modes as well they wouldn't have even bothered. It is what it is. I am just going to except what SDS is. A good company that has moved on to being profit driven over quality. They can use telemetry data all they want but if you look their twitter feed there is literally thousands upon thousands of people asking them what's up with franchise mode. They just don't care. It's as simple as that.

MTO continues to look fun to play through a couple times trying different teams. It would be nice to have the option to turn off rewards in order to use custom rosters and use this as a jumping off point for franchise, especially if you want to use a non-contending team.

As it stands, in my opinion, getting 19 is worth it just for the gameplay changes and presentation additions. It’s getting hard to watch these streams because the more I watch, the more I get excited for the game.

I can see how MTO moves people to franchise mode.

They play thru a season of MTO, start liking the idea of playing a season and then either advance that MTO season into franchise, or they jump out of MTO all together and then start up a franchise brand new. They realize they can play with more up to date rosters, and can still play franchise mode pretty much how they played MTO, but using critical moments and simming games. They also have the ability to quick manage where they have to option to jump in and out of games as they see fit. They then get the full experience of call ups/send downs, injuries, trades, and the off season. And they still have the option to make this auto if they don't want to deal with it.

Maybe it does or maybe it doesn't. I guess we'll know about 6-8 months from now.
