So I'm actually able to now start watching this stream.

Love the new PA announcer! So glad they've made the change.

Yup, but you can't have that camera on offense. For the life of me, I'm not sure why.

Yet still, it is evident that they spent a lot of time doing what they did to make this year's game, and it's not "just a roster update" in any form. Nice little things like mentioning when a player is newly added to a team, a live shot of the crowd on a home run instead of the silly cutscenes with dancing fans and signs, Heidi seems impressive for a year-one implementation, I heard a new crack of the bat on the ChiSox walk-off home run (but still don't know if that's an actual in-game sound, something in post or something for the particular moment), many more aerial shots of the stadiums... some good stuff brewing here.

I'm definitely not going to be using those cinematic cameras, though.

By the way, I know this is an unintended bug and is a work in progress, but it didn't make this moment any less funny when it happened:

As a Toronto only guy you nailed that on the head. I think the mode looks cool but zero chance I get invested in that mode without their minor league guys.

I know SDS likes to say they have one guy who is dedicated to franchise but I don't believe that. I believe they spend zero development time on this mode. The proof is in the pudding.

You could argue, "well they put Heidi in franchise mode". But I guarantee if she couldn't be included in other game modes as well they wouldn't have even bothered. It is what it is. I am just going to except what SDS is. A good company that has moved on to being profit driven over quality. They can use telemetry data all they want but if you look their twitter feed there is literally thousands upon thousands of people asking them what's up with franchise mode. They just don't care. It's as simple as that.
Until Microsoft wakes up decides to make a baseball game or RBI and MLB decides to go all in on a game we will be stuck with mediocrity game development we have now with SDS!!!

Re: MLB The Show 19 Twitch Stream - March to October, Franchise, Presentation, Commen

Here's an example of the "storyline" thing that I've been talking about that could occur in an MTO playthrough:

So, we know there are going to be trade offers around the deadline, and they are likely going to involve a "buying" scenario if your team is in contention (let's face it, this will be often because most people aren't going to play the mode into July if they're losing). So you're going to be giving up young talent to get established MLB players. In the stream today an A potential minor leaguer was included in the package being offered. If I decide not to trade that player, perhaps, now that I know his name and that he's a top prospect in my organization, maybe I want to be able to keep a closer eye on his career.

In this way, since the game has created interest for me in this player, I don't necessarily need for it to be a real, existing human being - it's a storyline in a video game, and I want to see what the next chapter is. Hello franchise mode, where he'll be accessible along with the rest of the organization. The story continues there.

This is why I can play franchise mode without OSFM - although, admittedly I have trouble finding these sorts of stories for myself and I find it difficult to persist long term in a franchise without them. This is something that is very possible to do in a franchise by itself (and probably happens frequently for players who run the draft themselves). But that's hidden away in a ton of menuing, where a lot of people who don't dive into franchise will never see it.

This mode creates a year's worth of backstory, presented to everyone who plays the mode very easily and concisely, to take into a franchise mode if they choose. And I find the possibilities of that fascinating.

Now if they Keep editing rosters, which they may, I could see it being better! The minors thing is a bummer that it cannot be imported, like a draft class in Madden, after the fact.

I’m not saying it absolutely will just that I could see how it happens.

If you don’t I get that to, I just don’t understand the whole deeming the mode a failure/waste of time when we truly don’t know how it will be received and if it will lead to more people trying out traditional franchise mode.

Sometimes i prefer a fictional league in OOTP. I find that with real rosters I have too many attachments or preconceived notions regarding players. Or I have a sentimental attachment to a guy and can't bring myself to trade them.

Fictional players allow me to be more objective with any decisions.
