It hurt my heart, when Kirby said that all the batter pitcher analysis is in the pause menu. When Heidi was talking about how many hits the team had. I hate that why not put it on the touchpad, all that information is buried menus again this year.

I say presentation is a franchise feature, simply because a lot of OSD's and Commentary are germane to franchise, like RTTS report, 2nd half talk of pennant races, batting avg talk ect... when you get to August September the commentary and story lines are geared toward October and The Dynamic Loading screen is one helluva OSD, if you cycle through them great scouting tool.

I agree with you. This info would be a lot more useful if you didn’t have to pause the game. I like how they put the pitching vs batter matchup w/ the batters average on the OSD in the top corner. Only thing missing is the pitcher’s ERA. I’ve always felt it’s a little too inconvenient to see the pitcher on the mound’s stats while in-game.

If I had to guess then I would say that they were looking to add the curated story content to franchise and, when they decided to break it out into a new mode, then the other "game" aspects were added.


Curated storylines have to be a nightmare development for a mode where there can be a fantasy draft to start the season. A mode where players can import custom rosters. A mode where any trade can change the makeup of the team. Either the story elements have to be very generic (basically recent trends by players and the team) or they would have to account for an infinite number of franchise scenarios.

If that's the case then I'm glad they left it out of franchise. On which franchise wish list was story lines and momentum a major item? For that matter who asked for "unlockables" which apparently are new stadium sounds.

I am not trying to say anyone should buy it simply because the presentation updates are a franchise feature, simply stating that it is a feature that affects franchise.

How important that feature is to each individual gamer is up for them to decide.

I don't agree with you all of the time Dolenz but I don't think your point is that crazy. I was leaning towards not buying because of the stagnant franchise but I am now leaning towards a buy because the presentation looked so darn good in that stream.

I am a franchise only player so the presentation is technically a feature I will be enjoying and may have swayed my decision. Still they should have done more and I have to stick with my guys on this one. If it's a feature everyone can enjoy then it is not a franchise exclusive feature and is not just for us.

No, that's the games, those are fine, I'm not bored of playing baseball. The mode is the boring and stale part. I've played it before last year, and the year before that, and the year before that. It's exactly the same.

If they released DD exactly the same, with the exact same missions and content as last year, but with improved gameplay and presentation, people wouldn't play it and SDS would be absolutely slaughtered by everyone. Franchise is no different.

I understand what you are saying but I'd put it differently. I'm not bored with franchise mode. I'm just very frustrated all the great potential with the mode isn't tapped by the developers.

I understand the other modes which $ell extra $tuff to users are a major focus of Sony to generate continuing cash beyond the $60 dollar sale price but adding March to October instead of upgrading franchise is a major mistake. They already have multiple short attention span modes.

I really wish the gaming review sites such as OS would give SDS the business for the lack of updates to franchise. Lots of twitter and facebook responses with people upset about it but seems like SDS isn't hearing any of it.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned as i haven’t had time to read through the entire thread, but in the STL @ PIT game the stadium is completely sold out in the top of the 1st inning but clears out to about 40% capacity in the bottom of the 1st. I think this was an issue last year but it got addressed. It’s a minor issue but it definitely stands out. Hopefully they’re able to fix it.

OS has always been worried about stepping on toes. Khelis might be the only person from the site in any official capacity I have ever seen criticize the direction of the game, which is refreshing. Others may have in the past but I have never personally seen it

This was only sorta fixed. The RF bleachers at Wrigley always had too many empty seats, even during the World Series.
