They'll never get rid of Franchise mode. More people play it than you think and the amount of backlash wouldn't be worth it.

Love the presentation updates, but worried about franchise for this year's game. Real contracts are nice (I guess), but I'm concerned that not much was changed in franchise besides that.

That is peculiar to me. I'm hoping they come back to franchise in some form in this stream. It even seemed like it took more effort to implement the new UI (Phases) in franchise last year than what they did this year. I didn't hear any talk of improved AI or contract logic, just that real contracts are in along with extensions...
How do the extensions work? Can the cpu extend players? If financials have not been balanced to work with real contracts would be a complete mess.

Is there a screen shot with rookies? Are they coming up making 550k league minimum?

You're probably right but I am a little paranoid.

They made no mention of any of that. I'm assuming that's why there is a bit of concern related to Franchise Mode.

Yeah I don't blame you. The lack of attention to it is discouraging but I think they'll keep it.

It seems as if they are still testing the real contracts, but here is what worries me:

All of the real contracts are not in yet. They will be in before the release of the game, BUT that means they won't have a lot of time to test the franchise logic. It sounds like they got the green light to use real contracts pretty late.

This might have changed my mind about March to October. It looks pretty cool.

Welp, Vasgersian says Eric Thames' last name correctly this year!

(last year it still sounded like how you pronounce it with Marcus Thames)
                      Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60

EA did it with madden, I am just saying it's what happened and EA said at the time 'franchise is no more' it was their words. and that was 6 years ago.

Look they had backlash with getting rid of Season mode.

I really don't think M2O is about getting franchise players across. they could have integrated it over, you go to start franchise it asks a question do you want a stripped down version (IE march To October) or start a franchise. I don't really know what the point was to start an entire new mode. it breaks up to many parts and makes it harder to focus more options on other modes when they are all separated,

Yup, that's my concern. I genuinely don't know if they know that just changing the starting contracts to the real values will break the game, it's a game breaking bug waiting to happen.

Clarification on this from SDS would be hugely appreciated

Presentation looks awesome. Lots of subtle tweaks and changes plus the sideline reporter. Drop down scoreboard stats and the pre pitch cameras look awesome. Definately impressed on that front.

Not much franchise specific stuff on the stream which I've been expecting. The presentation changes help with franchise but real franchise changes (better stat/history tracking, better draft experience, full A roster, etc) would help make it a more immersive experience.

Biggest concern I have is the finance and budget system. I'm worried testing hasn't been done to ensure a franchise 2-3 years down the line will work properly. You would assume some testing would need to occur having the value of everyone's contracts increased to real life values. The only reason I'm assuming testing hasn't been done is because they said they havent changed all of them yet. I wouldnt think you could properly test how this affects the finances if they havent been updated yet. I dont think there's much time left for testing with launch being so close but who knows maybe they tested this stuff on the backend or can fix any issues with a day one patch.

I personally wish they would have spent the time they worked on March to October and instead spent that time on fleshing out franchise. It seems like a lot of thought, planning, testing and man hours went into this new mode. My personal preference would have been to spend that time working on franchise.

What I meant, is that I might try it out. In another thread I said I wasn't even going to touch the mode. I will likely try it out. I'm strictly a Franchise guy ususally. I still haven't decided if I'll buy, but if I do, I'll probably try March to Oct out.
