Well, wait a minute. Look at the title of your thread. No more Show?
This game is thriving and I don’t think they much care that a few may walk away from it, but to speculate because some are unhappy....the end is near?

I picked up RBI baseball at gamestop for $30. I thought it could hold me over a couple weeks. I wasted my money tho. Took me about 1 inning to see that it's not even half as good as any of the show games. Unless there's another baseball console game that I haven't seen then people will be buying the show

It's a similar high like gambling and can cause some people to want to spend money to improve quicker.

MLBTS I would say is the best out of the sports games as you dont need to spend money to compete compared to say a NBA2k. However, this mobile style of gaming has made its way into a lot of console games and isnt going anywhere. Outside of say the EU putting down some sort of law restriction on microtransactions, that the US in turn adopts to some degree, there is no stopping microtransactions. Companies will of course develop modes/methods/etc to get people to want to spend money as it's best for the "bottom line".

There definitely is frustration among the franchise offline only userbase and it should be expected given the last few years. Whatever "blowback" they may receive in sales is easily out surpassed with microtransactions so it doesnt mean much in the short term. Any blowback to their launch sales this year from OS users is probably gonna be due more to the lack of OSFM rosters and not due to the lack of franchise specific improvements.

Anyone thinking the PS5 is gonna change the game for MLBTS I think are mistaken. The best change in my opinion would be a straight up redo from the ground up. The PS5 and PS4 have similar architecture so they wont have to. Why would something like rotating interleague schedules not be implemented by now and why would it take 2 dev cycles to implement? There are underline issues ensuring everything works in cohesion together and sometimes it's best to just start from the ground up instead of building on top of a problematic foundation.

Great thoughts. But I can’t help but wonder if SDS allowed us franchise players to make similar “transactions”, not in anyway like DD, but for things like uniform sets, certain gear ie shoes, Nike catcher gear, etc., if that would help the developers look at franchise again as a “money maker”?

I only started playing franchise last year due to season mode going away, but I do play every inning of a 162 game season. I am like many on here, I come back year after year due to game play, and the “small things” that these developers have always been great at.

I will continue to play offline franchise as long as they continue to offer it, and as long as they offer official roster updates( I only use Sony’s updated rosters).

            Again thats your opinion!
As a Franchise only player I believe the game has gotten stale, if not very stale.
But you dont see me on here attacking anyones opinion. And Im a firm believer if you dont work on Franchise or bring back Online Franchise it may hurt them in the long wrong, but Im also hoping this doesnt happen

I would actually like to see a legit source one way or another. One guy says sales are down. Another says they've never been better. Really no way to make sense of that without something solid to go on.

As long as they're making money but I barely played '17 & didn't buy last years and haven't even thought about this year's until now. I can't see myself buying '19. No Competition like Madden eventually games become stale because there's no reason to make it better..

If you Google MLB The Show Sales and go on VGChartz it will show that 1st week sales in 18 was down 1/3 from 17

One thing to keep in mind, unless its changed/or I am mistaken, VGChartz doesn't include Digital Downloads in their sales figures. Only physical copy sales.

So while the sales appear to be down a 1/3 for the first week, its possible that a percentage of that 1/3 was actually digital sales and therefore not disclosed in VGChartz sales numbers.

Again, I'm pretty sure that we're not accepting vgchartz as a legitimate source. People with an agenda against the game like to quote vgchartz when it shows a drop. People who always defend the game also like to point out vgchartz when it shows an increase. Point is, I don't think that website knows any better than the rest of us. At best, it is totally lacking microtransaction revenue, even if you believe those sales figures (which I do not).

I think franchise is coming to a end. but not MLB the show at all. I believe that might be what you are trying to say.

maybe it is becoming slightly stale I mean will be on our 6 year of this on the PS4 now. the changeover in 2013 if you remember was amazing

I know a lot won't, but if you take a look at other sporting games Madden over the last 6 years have not had an actual proper franchise mode just this made for single player CFM mode.

MLB the show I think is the only sports game there is where you can control all 30 teams in a franchise which is a 100% MUST. my fear is over the changes and lack of changes to franchise over the last few years that it maybe heading into that same direction.

What worries me is next year they will 'that's it we are going to rework franchise from scratch' thrus we get a CFM type mode where there is no longer 30 team control . and we get a bare bones thing that is limited like M2O is. and over a 6 year span different things get re added but we have taken 6 steps back to go 3 steps forward.

I am completely speculating here, they have said several times all the new features people want can't be added to this current franchise they have. which is why it never makes it into the game, so the only way is to start from the ground up. and the first thing will go is 30 team control when this happens. I believe madden has never recovered since that was taken out (I am aware that now you can spend 2 hours making 32 team profiles but that mode isn't designed for 32 team control)

There is absolutely 32 team control on Madden. I employ it in my 1985 Miami Dolphins CFM. So that is completely false. In fact 32 team control returned on Madden 25 and has been there ever since (it was nerfed on madden 13 the only time it was gone when they moved to the CFM model) You can control all aspects or turn some functions to auto, just like MLB The Show and the NBA 2K series.

With madden it takes about 20 minutes to set up 32 team control using existing coaches. If you want to make custom coaches from scratch....about 45 minutes.

Once it is set up.....it’s done.

You are being far too paranoid about this. My opinion of course. But SDS and 2K are not EA. Not even close.

I don’t believe for a second SDS would take away 30 team control and also.....they don’t have to start franchise mode from scratch.....not in the least bit. And that is another incredibly head scratching thing for a lot of us who enjoy franchise mode. There is a lot of good and great things about it already.....what they need to do is simply refine and upgrade the base they have. And they know this.

A total stripped down franchise mode? Nope. With The Show I do not see that happening.

Are we nearing the end of MLB The Show? Lord man. What can anyone say constructively about a hyperbole statement like that. I mean come on man. Really? LOL.

Because there were no “in your opinion” significant additions to franchise mode the end is near for the game?

I think it is more like the end is near for you playing the game.

If it is stale.....then don’t play. But there are 100’s of thousands of Show fans who disagree.

A game that plays really well and replicates it’s sport as good as this game.....never gets stale for me. The gameplay improvements every single cycle have been outstanding. The presentation improvements have been outstanding. Every cycle they have improved the presentation and that is what keeps a game/franchise mode vibrant for my taste.....not more menus and spreadsheets.

Anyway.....looking forward to 19 big time!!!!!
