I chose Anomaly and just started the 2022 season. I am currently playing on All Star. Won the World Series in 2020 and lost in the NLCS in 2021 playing RF for the Braves. I'm at a 96 speed, Power is in low 90's, contact in 80's. Most of my attributes are in 90's or over 99 with boosts.... with the exception of things like bunting, base running aggressiveness, etc. My player is an overall 94. I highly recommend playing the market with your rewards, earning stubs, and going for the gold/diamond equipment. For one.... it's a cool look with some of them, and two, the boosts really help areas that are hard to train. The slowest progression for me has been contact, plate vision, plate discipline and arm strength and I've setup my equipment to compensate those areas. It hasn't impacted me to the point I still can't play at an elite level, but those have been much more of a grind. After reading other posts about this.... I may have to try the utility archetype to see how it develops.

Re: Official MLB 19 : Road to the Show Thread
So quick question, folks.
I've just finished my third RTTS season (still with Baltimore, although they've traded everyone else with a pulse - one season in the minors, two in MLB).
So far, I've never once been offered the opportunity to raise my cap for 'Reaction' or 'Speed'. Both attributes have been maxed out for a season and a half now.
Is this by design? I can raise my power through doing weights, contact/plate vision/fielding etc. through practice, but for speed & reaction, I'm stuck with my God-given attributes?
Or have I just been really, really unlucky?Comment

Re: Official MLB 19 : Road to the Show Thread
Sounds like you have been unlucky. Alot of it depends on your archetype and which attributes are easiest to train. Reaction cap was easy for me to raise and got lots of opportunities. I have anomaly archetype and learned early that every chance you get to raise the speed cap and the arm strength cap to do it..... because the opportunities are much fewer than some of other ones. I'm in 2022 season and have most things very high or high enough to be "elite".
Thanks - I went with Rock Steady.
All the hitting caps - Contact, Power, Plate Vision, Plate Discipline - have been coming up pretty regularly, as have Fielding and Arm Strength/Accuracy. Even Stealing & Baserunning I've seen often.....although I haven't bothered with those as I'm not really fast enough to cause damage on the basepaths at the moment. But Speed and Reaction? Not even once.
So I've developed into a great contact hitter, with excellent vision and discipline and decent power, as well as good fielding skills. But I feel as if I'm destined to always be a slowcoach...….Last edited by Tonesta78; 06-11-2019, 01:28 PM.Comment

Re: Official MLB 19 : Road to the Show Thread
You can give the arbitrator whatever number you think you are worth and they will rule in your favor or not with a number they deem is fair. It will just be a 1 year number. I've posted a quick, to the point read on the link below and the game generally follows those rules. No teams will offer you any deals until you become a free agent after 6 years of service time. Aribitration and Free Agency will change depending on how good/elite you are..... the better you are the more money you can get in arbitration and the more offers you will get in free agency.

You guys play all the minor league games?
Just wondering how simming thru a bunch of minor league games may affect getting called up.
Havent had THAT much time to work my guy up yet. But I am leading the Southern League in avg (.318) nd HRs (14) just past the 2019 AS Game. Though I was traded to the Braves.
I didnt want to sim anything until i threw this out there to see if anyone has any experience simming thru the Minors.

Re: Official MLB 19 : Road to the Show Thread
Started a SS and was drafted 15.1 by the O's. Started off absolutely raking (All star with someone's sliders, can't remember who) to the tune of like (.525) but only had 1 HR since he's a fast guy. Stole like 25 bases over the first month and a half. Then they moved me to 3B and told me I'd do better to get to the majors. Before June I was called up and just made the AS game for the O's. Currently at the trade deadline and I'm leading the league in SBs with 42 and triples with 10, but my hitting has become more natural. Hitting around 240ish (ratings are all 52-66) with 2 HRs and around 35 RBIs. One thing I need to work on is my reacting to a pick off. I have 7 stolen bases all from misreading the pitcher lol.Comment

When you have certain equipment activated for your player is there a way to see the boost in ratings added to your current ratings?Currently Playing

What does everyone do when u hit free agency. I'm a 95ovr 26yrs SS that just won the triple crown, broke HR, and hit streaks records (I know... Kinda a big deal..lol) but I'm think in free agency signing like a 5 yr 5 million a yr deal so the team can buy other players. anyone know if that would actually happen?

Personally I don't think so.But since the dollar amount means zilch I usually low ball if I want to sign(just in case it does matter).Hopefully I interpreted your question correctly.
Really wish I knew an RTTS expert with a pipeline to the devs.I've accumulated a lot of questions over the years with only speculation for answers.Comment

Re: Official MLB 19 : Road to the Show Thread
On the subject of free agency, how does it work? Like will all interested teams offer me a contract at once? Can I negotiate with different teams over time? How many teams normally offer?? I'm a 99 OVR SS, always hit over .300 and won a batting title but never made All Star or made the playoffs.Comment

Is your question "Does the dollar value of my contract affect what players my team can afford"?If so it's a question that has been asked many times with no definitive answer that I have ever seen.

What would people think if contract money was tied to durability. meaning the more money you make the longer you can last. Maybe by buying things that can make you last longer such as therapy or medicine. But you can also spend it on other things that are flashy but don't extend.

Re: Official MLB 19 : Road to the Show Thread
I have totally lost all ability to hit HR’s. I had 31 homeruns on July 15th. It’s now about to be September and i have 33. My power has stayed 99 RHP and risen to 91 LHP, but my used to be HR’s are dying at the warning track now. It’s so frustrating. It’s like the patch that was available to download last week killed my RTTS guy. I’m afraid to download the newest one from this week.Twitter

Re: Official MLB 19 : Road to the Show Thread
I'm a switch hitting CF, chose the Anomaly archetype. Killed the showcase game, ended up getting drafted by the White Sox at 15.3 (A surprise considering I always ended up with the Orioles in my previous test runs).
Tore up AA, and quickly got promoted to AAA just after the AA all star game in June. Continued to tear up AAA, but the White Sox decided to deal me to my actual favorite team, the Reds. The Reds sent back Bobby Whitt Jr., who they picked up in a trade earlier in the season. I continued to tear the cover off the ball in AAA for the remainder of the season.
Re-signed with the Reds, played well in Spring Training and made the MLB roster from the jump. Ended up winning Rookie of the Year after swatting over 30 home runs, although the Reds spent most of the year screwing with me and playing me everywhere else to accomodate Nick Senzel in CF.
Re-signed with them again, and now I'm the starter and Senzel is on the bench. Don't know why they don't play him in LF (or why they didn't station me there last year) where we have a major hole, but it is what it is. Getting ready to start spring training in 2021. I'm hoping to make my first all-star game and continue to improve. I'm sitting at 78 overall. My best attribute is my 99 speed, but my power numbers are pretty impressive as well.
The Reds are pretty good, but just need to put it all together. Outside of me, our offense was atrocious in 2020 while we had some pretty fantastic pitching.
Around the majors, Paul Goldschmidt flirted with a .400 season for most of the year before going ice cold in September and finishing with a .365 batting average, still took home MVP honors. Jacob DeGrom won his second MVP award in 2020, and carried the Mets to the World Series where they lost a subway series to the Yankees. The Yankees have won the pennant both years in my RTTS, managed to win this year after falling to the Nationals in Year 1.
