Don't forget that he pitched too. For a team to even consider a position player pitching in an official game is an accomplishment in itself.

Re: Ichiro in MLB The Show 19?
Ichiro is definitely not overrated. I am lifelong angels fan and I still have nightmares of the guy in his prime. Complain about him being a singles hitter all you want, but I remember one of his coaches back in the day saying that if ichiro sold out for power instead of average he would have easily been a 20-25 home run a year hitter. By your estimation tony Gwynn must be overrated then too.
Gwynn was a better hitter, and did a heckuva lot more than pile up singles.
Gwynns career OPS is nearly 100 points higher than Ichiros. Ichiros highest OPS was .869... Gwynn topped that 5 times. Ichiro had 4 seasons over .800 OPS.. Gwynn; 13, including 9 years in a row to end his career.. Gwynn also drove in 350 more runs than Ichiro.

To the OP if he is removed you DL a stellar CAP of him and import him into whatever roster you use.
No biggie.

Re: Ichiro in MLB The Show 19?
As for Ichiro himself... as Seattleite/Mariners fan; GROSSLY overrated.
Singles hitter who valued his stats over the team.
When things really hit the skids for the Ms, they asked Ichiro to bat closer to the middle of the lineup, as one of the most skilled hitters in history, undoubtedly, he could have driven in more runs.. but he declined because it would have meant less ABs.
Fitting that he never won squat, and played in next to no meaningful games.
Are you mad that Ichiro didn't draw many walks?
Walks don't drive home the guy on second. Walks don't drive in runs from third.
Sure, walk the .300 hitter so the guy hitting .220 with 30 homers can drive them in. That's totally smart baseball.
75.7% of Tony Gwynn's hits were singles. SUCH an efficient player!
You sound like the kind of guy who wants to reduce the game to homers, walks and strikeouts, thus turning the game into literally watching grass grow. It gives seven fielders absolutely nothing to do and strips away the soul of the game. Gee, I wonder why attendance is dropping?
Ichiro isn't the guy who kept the Mariners from ever reaching the World Series.
Ichiro didn't wait until 1991 to give the Mariners a winning record.
Ichiro isn't the reason that UrinatingTree will soon make a Legacy of Failure video about them, like he has with the Rangers and Nationals/Expos.
Ichiro is not to blame for the team not building around him. Imagine if they still had Randy Johnson and Ken Griffey Jr. alongside him. But nooo, they traded the Big Unit so Houston could have a half-season rental and then he walked off to the D-Backs, while Griffey went to go play for Daddy's team because the M's were run by morons.
Because one man is not a team. This isn't the NBA. Steve Carlton can win you 20, but if you only win 40 or so games when others start, that's on management and the front office, not your best player.
Yeah, Ichiro could have hit 40 homers a year. But he'd also be hitting .260 and George Sisler would still own the single-season hits record.
And he wouldn't be Ichiro.Comment

Re: Ichiro in MLB The Show 19?
This is what happens when someone makes a ridiculous claim for no apparent reason about a guy that can hit 200+ hits yearly in his sleep. If its that easy, hey, every player should do it and revolutionize the game lolYankees, Manchester United, Chicago Bears, New York RangersComment

Let us all not forget his apparently incredible profanity laced pregame speeches at the All Star game every year.
If you think Ichiro is overrated...then I say that YOU SIR are the one who is overrated!

Selfish player who valued his stats and chasing the hits record over wins and his team.
Definition of overated, IMO.
