First of all this post is only on the player models. Also I have played the Show since 2009 on PS3 and understand that this dev team doesn’t reinvent the wheel so anyone expecting that will be underwhelmed. I’m going to keep this positive having played this game for 10 yrs now you tend to enjoy the little things of this game.

Just on graphical faces improvements goes game gets an A and it could’ve been an A+ if not for the Ronald Acuña Jr. face scan which is horrible. Maybe he didn’t want his face scan in the game. Anyways, I went over all teams including vets and rookies and the players looked tweaked for the better. Andrew Benintendi and Todd Frazier (finally has a face scan) stand out. I’m extremely happy to see refinements by artist on the models. I do want to add that Yankees youngsters look amazing Torres, Andujar, Montgomery, Adams and Frazier.

I have 2 kids and can’t play until later in the night where I’ll post impressions on other graphic refinements and gameplay improvements.

Picked up the game the other day and I have to say this is one of the most disappointing show games ever IMO, and I've played every one of them. It really hasnt taken any gameplay steps forward and its EXACTLY the same as 18. Anyone who says otherwise is dreaming.

Frame rate is horrendous when playing in stadiums like Minute maid park or yankee stadium, with even a PS4pro and on "faster" which should be smooth. Its laughable when compared to other sports games that are true 60fps.

The CPU AI cant hit even on higher difficulties, which results in boring games and consistent 80% strike rate by my pitchers...
honestly regretting my purchase.. sorry guys

Man I love this version. Everything is just so polished. It just feels so much more like what I watch on tv. The sounds are just fantastic. The stadiums are alive and the crowds are the best I’ve heard in a game.

I think the cpu May start a “scripting” thread after my last game. I was down 2-0 in the ninth and got my first batter on. Galvis came up and hit a grounder to candelaria on third for a sure double play and he booted it. I then hit a single and held the runner at third. With runners on first and third I hit a hard grounder to second and he booted it. Eventually I tied it and with Teoscar on third and one out I hit a shallow fly to right field with Reese McGuire and Teoscar barely beat the tag for the win. Soooo fun.

Played my first full games pirates vs braves I was the braves. Gameplay is fluid like always. Love the new addition they added. Won’t spoil it but kudos to Russell and Sony for taking a page out of the 2k nba book. I’m loving this game. Love the new stat overlays love the new camera before every pitch.

Love how they extended the new netting to protect the fans from dangerous foul balls. Also love the new Marlins wall color at marlins park.

MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

After more than 10 hours only playing exhibition games this is by far the most polished and improved Show in regards to gameplay and feel of game. I have owned every Show since ‘09 and have not had the feel of hitting since The Show 13. What I mean my feel is the weight felt when making contact. I haven’t been too please with the Show over the transition from PS3 to PS4 and then the Pro. For example I didn’t have a feel for last years game and I couldn’t get into it. This game has life, is fun and has soul.

One thing to point out is the scores I was having in one game it would be 7-6 by the 5th inning and then other 3-2 gems. I have always wanted that in the game where I would get high score games throughout. Expect Lots of hits in Coors Field. Super happy with game and thank you to the dev team and OS Forums community.

I second this. Agree with everything said here. There is just something a little different in the gameplay I’m noticing. And I played a lot of games in ‘18.

Alot more hit variety I’ve been noticing. And this is through 7 games vs. CPU on Legend. I haven’t noticed the power outage as some have noted. I’ve seen a fair amount of HRs, from no doubters to wall scrapers. It also feels when you make contact with a good contact hitter, there is a certain heaviness to the contact that hasn’t been there in past games.

I also love the pre-pitch camera shots. Didn’t think those would matter to me but they are a really nice touch. The new overlays are simply beautiful. Much better than last years OSD’s. All around really enjoying ‘19 and think most people will be happy with it once they play it. At the very least on the field.

Franchise mode feels very much the exact same, just wish it felt like a new year from a mode standpoint. That is my only critique. The gameplay offline is the very best to date. We’ll see if the online gameplay is as good.

                            Very nicely packaged

Impressions coming shortly as it’s installing.

Playing the install game and the first contact I make with Benintendi is a line shot that bounces off of Kershaw and to the first baseman for an out...

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

Hit my first homerun with Steve Pearce. Kershaw hung a curveball and he squared it up for a no doubt homerun off the foul pole. And yes the homerun cam triggered.

I still feel as though the pitch speeds are slightly too slow on default (Legend difficulty btw). I am probably going to steadily increase them as I play thru Spring Training to find the right balance. It's quicker than last year (ball not floaty), but still seems to easy to react to a fastball when sitting offspeed and get in front of it.

The wall ribbon is a good idea but I honestly find it annoying so within 3 innings it was turned off...LOL. It is a very helpful aid, but to me its a distraction while playing.

For those concerned about secondary pitches being too weak or whatnot, there's no need to worry. Pitching as Chris Sale, yes I know he's a top notch pitcher, I threw nothing but changeups and 2 seam fastballs the last inning played (his 3rd and 4th pitch) and struck out the side. Again this is default Legend.

Graphically game looks a bit better than last year, but not by much. The netting extended down the lines is a nice touch.

Fielding feels so damn good. People are going to watch videos and streams and say it plays/looks just like '18, which isn't a lie, but it is a much more polished version of '18, which I thought was phenomenal.

One small thing for roster creators or those who edit in their own prospects or whatnot, when you type out a name, if there is a corresponding audio name in the database, the game will ask if you want to assign the corresponding audio name so you don't have to search for it.

Nothing major but its nice that its there.
