Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
Also is an edge lit tv not FALD...Great HDR requires good black levels and bright image with high color volume....Still should look good on that set but on the qled fald the colors are amazing and so are the black levels...Comment

The presentation in this game is flat out phenomenal.
Well done SDS...well done!I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
Ugh.....my carryover franchise left me with a ton of SDS created manager and coaches faces due to the deletion of real coaches from their data base. Man, these gargoyles look so graphically dated it really takes away from the game.Comment

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
To read this is really very disappointing.
Was looking forward to these cams, as it give a certain freshness to the game.
I always play with quick counts on, so this means no new cams for me?
I really wonder why this is the case, as in my opinion it should not matter which way you play.
Here's hoping they can do something about it.Comment

MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
I’m not saying some are not having frame rate issues but I have the same LG Monitor that Royal has and I haven’t had or noticed any issues with frame rate.
I do have the latest released PRO so maybe that could be the reason??

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
Ok here are my initial quick thoughts after playing the following:
-Opening Day Quick Counts - First game played Franchise/simming through a season/offseason (default rosters)
-March to October (Opening Day)
Gameplay/Presentation:
-Pitching: I've been pitching on Legend/Meter mostly in 17/18; pitching is definitely a bit harder to hit spots.
-Hitting: Great, along with the fielding, largest improvement in the game. Solid hit variety, gappers, bloops, etc. I did not see balls hitting pitchers yet (small sample size)
-Fielding: Ratings actually matter, try running down balls in the gap with Inciarte and then with Adam Duvall (who's still above average), you will see the difference.
-Presentation: The cut-ins are really cool, graphics feel like they pop a bit better, no issues with frame rate on 4k/HDR. My biggest issue right now is that with Quick Counts On (which I play a majority of the time) - the cut ins are not there. I hope they can patch this (at least on the first pitch of a batter), big difference maker. Commentary needs work.
Franchise:
-In-Season: I simmed through a season/off-season with default rosters. Free agents that were available to begin with (Kimbrel, Keuchel) could be had rather cheaply. I think Kimbrel got 2 years/$11m each, which might actually be realistic, so no huge deal. The trades were not horrible actually; Rays were out of it, traded Kiermaier for prospects. Cubs and Jays were both in a Playoff Push and did a Stroman plus a decent RP (can't remember whom) for Hendricks. Lineup logic was pretty solid for the most part (although the Phillies did sit McCutchen against RH on opening day).
-Offseason:
Ok, so.....the FA and arbitration salaries were not way under as reported elsehwere. They were a bit low possibly, but Gerrit Cole, MadBum and Rizzo got paid pretty well. Arbitration values were decent as well, I did not see lower values than the previous year. (Gausman/Folty each got around $10m). I'll have to do some more simming to see what happens in the future, etc.
March to October
So, if you can get over the fact that it's default rosters, no injuries, etc. and just have fun with it. I really like this mode actually because I can focus on just playing games and have fun with it. Franchise I'm more into the realism, etc. It's a nice departure to hop in and play real quick if you are short on time. As someone who plays Franchise exculsively (prior to MTO) I do sim a lot of games and/or Quick Manage until crucial at-bats, etc.
Overall - I'm really enjoying it, I think the Franchise issues with the budgets are not deal-breaking, but that's going to require a bit more work with various roster sets to see how it's affected.Comment

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
I seriously am having a blast playing this years iteration, the presentation is great this year and the graphics are among the best in sports gaming imo, the skill gap seems more apparent in players this year, I can feel the difference between lower rated pitchers and aces like Sale or DeGrom

MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
As my post stated. I’m not saying it isn’t happening to some. Just haven’t noticed it on my end is all and I offered some reasons why maybe I’m not seeing it is all.

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
And that is fine that you and others do not see it as frame issues can be viewed or tolerated differently, but monitors and tv types are not the reason that you cannot see it. That is my point when someone tries to say is due to a monitor or tv....Monitor and tvs do not improve performance on a console that has locked specsComment

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
Every year there’s a group of guys that get on this frame rate train and harp on it till they’re blue in the face, I’m convinced some buy the game to look for a gripe to ramp about on OS and Twitter

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
The hitting in this game is pure beauty. Absolute pure beauty. The hit types, the contact hitters being better...its just beautiful. Hard to really describe but when you play the game you'll see what I'm talking about.
Also anyone concerned about the changes to pitching....don't be. You can still pitch, strikeout, and dominate hitters. I love the fact that having a dominant fastball means more this year and pitching off of a dominant fastball has hitters completely baffled at the plate at times.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
