Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
Can feel the improved defense right off the bat and it feels great. Noticed guys getting late jumps. Bad infielders getting eaten up by hard ground balls. And it all flows so smoothly!
The balls back up the box also have way more variety now.
I’m honestly surprised how much i noticed the improved gameplay in the 1st game. I thought it would take awhile to really notice everything.

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
This is very disappointing that the frame rate got worst from last year while the graphics stayed the same
Performance/ bad frame rate on fly outs and looks horrible with the pixelation on edges and pitching meter
Balanced/ bad frame rate as well but looks nicer
Sharper/ Terrible frame rate but looks the best
The broadcast fielding cam to me is the best but they pulled it back from last year and the fps drops and stutters when you get a fly ball. Awful
Unless I have a different game then you, your wrong. I played my first full game last night and noticed how great the game played from last year , for me night and day. And haven’t had an issue like I used to see with frame rate in years past. There was this stutter thing I’d used to see and it’s gone, I play on a gaming monitor and that could possible be it, but the game plays and looks great. Better then it ever has to me.

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
OMG. I’m
On a PS4 pro and the frame rate is atrocious. Unbelievable to be honest. Also as we know franchise is excactly the same nothing changed. But another thing that is annoying is the commentary is exactly the same. Untouched. Same lines over and over from the first at bat till the last. That and the frame rate make this game really unplayable for me and honestly SCEA should be ashamed putting out this game with such bad frame rate and excactly same graphics. UNACCEPTABLE in my humble opinionComment

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
Played my first game last night on default Hall of Fame difficulty. I use zone hitting and meter pitching.
Braves (me) 7 vs. Marlins (cpu) 4. I was using quick counts to try to get more realistic pitch counts and walk/strikeout totals and keep the game time down. I normally use quick counts.
Both teams had 11 hits. I struck out 10 marlins without walking anyone. I struck out 6 times and walked 3 times. Marlins hit a homerun on a hanging johnny venters slider. I hit two doubles but no HR's. I had one throwing error with Donaldson trying to turn a 5-4-3 double play and threw it into right field which cost me at least 1 run.
Was a closer game than the score indicates I scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 8th.
Either I'm rusty or the game feels more difficult. I gave up 11 hits to the Fish and had to really work to scatter baserunners.
I like the new hit variety and I like the new camera angles while batting and fielding.
Visually it seems like the grass got downgraded in quality. I'm playing on "balanced" on a 4K HDR TV and it seems like the grass is more like a texture now - no more individual blades of grass even during close ups. The character models look better than ever so maybe this is an area they had to sacrifice to keep the frame rate up. Frame rate feels good except it does chug in a few quick foul ball situations on balanced but is otherwise not too bad.
I think the stadium sounds are better than ever. Crowd noise is very appropriate. Heard cheers and boos. The fireworks at the end sound great with 5.1 surround sound it felt like I was in the stadium with the fireworks going off.
Overall I'm very happy with the purchase. The Show really is the greatest sports game ever created by far. I wish a certain Football game could bring the realism, excitement and difficulty that the show does.GamerTag: Blazzen85

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
Either my eyes can’t detect it or the frame rate as I play seems to be the same as always and to me the game looks a little more crisp, especially no difference from last year....... I think it looks great this year

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
I just simmed a quick season to see if salary figures were adjusted. It does not appear they have been. Didi signs 2 year 7 mil deal in offseason, Jose Abreu's 6.6 1 year deal.
Arbitration and free agency numbers do not appear to be scaled to account for real contracts. Yankees start with an additional 30 million in space and after offseason should have much more.
Arbitration offers lower than previous years salary.
I can see this impacting trade values etc.. really disappointed. Users could have changed contracts to real figures..this is beyond frustrating.
Edit: on my way to work I also remember Pujols retires in year 1 giving up millions.(a few years ago it was made so players in contract would not retire.)
Trades that happened were mostly rp, arbitration renewable level players. I'm guessing since trade values were not adjusted to reflect higher contracts.
I need to do more tests, but for me this is not playable unless contracts were edited to pre-real contracts.

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
Has anyone notice when hdr is disabled the colors pop more. I was playing as the Red Sox and I notice that the numbers and sleeves were not vibrant like last year, so I turned of hdr and they popped. Am I the only person to notice this?

haven't seen the pitcher wall yet, thank god. Did see a pitcher make an awesome behind the back catch and throw the runner out at first thoughComment

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
I'm confused. People on here have been saying frame rate is bad, but I've been very pleased with the smoothness of "sharper" on my ps4 pro. I wonder if the issues are stadium specific?
