Yeah man I hear ya. I’m into mid May and he was struggling. I made I trade that made sense in my mind. I’ll give the details on my next post. Hopefully it’ll be tomorrow, keep an eye open for it.

MLB the Show 19 - Baltimore Orioles Franchise

No surprise, we couldn’t carry any momentum forward from our series sweep of the Jays. We drop 2 of 3 to Boston at home, falling victim to consecutive shutouts by David Price and Rick Porcello. We follow that with an ugly 1-6 road trip through Oakland and Seattle.

The Oakland series was a heartbreaker, as we’d come back from an 8-1 deficit in Game 1 to tie the score only to have the bullpen give it up in the 8th. The pen would go on to blow games 2 and 3 as well, including a 5th blown save by Kimbrel. The Kimbrel endeavor has been a disaster, as not only has he been bad but its becoming increasingly obvious that I’ll have to sell him for cheap at the deadline.

Anthony Santander gets activated from the IL and Mike Yastrzemski goes back to Norfolk. Santander would play hero in his first game back, banging a go-ahead 3-run double off of Mariners reliever Roenis Elias to solidify our only win of the road trip.

Andrew Cashner earned his way back to the rotation, as his stay in the bullpen was productive (1 ER in 9.1 IP). He rewarded me with his best start of the season in Seattle: 7 IP, 2 ER, 9 K. Of course, the pen blew that game for him as well. What a mess! Yefry Ramirez, who after 2 promising starts got shelled in Oakland, heads to the bullpen (maybe for good). His package of good stuff, shaky control, and barely adequate stamina point to that being his home going forward.

Jonathan Villar has 50 stolen bases already, and is almost guaranteed to break the franchise record of 54 set by Hall of Famer Luis Aparicio in 1964.

Against all odds, Chris Davis has homered in 3 straight games (13 on the season) and is now batting .235 and slugging .500. He is having his best year since 2016 and I can say with confidence that he has been my most reliable power bat this season.

Basically halfway through the season now and we’re 21-59. This has been very trying, and if I’m being honest I can’t wait for this season to be over. So many more things have gone wrong than I imagined, and outside of a few bright spots at the major league level I’m not happy with the path some of my top prospects are headed. Another year of having the first overall pick in the draft will help.

Up next, the Padres visit Baltimore and Manny Machado makes his return to Camden Yards.

My Braves are off to a fast start. We're averaging a little over 7 runs in wins and are 4-1 overall. Before our last game against the Cubs, the team doctor told me Max Fried had a stomach problem and that he should sit. I made him start anyways and I'm glad I did. Despite walking 4 batters, he had a great outing. He struck out 8, allowed only 2 hits, and didn't surrender any runs in 5 innings. The offense didn't come alive until the 6th when Darvish finally started to crack. Jonny Venters picked up the win in a 4-1 victory over Chicago. Next, Folty takes the hill as we go for our first sweep of the season.

End of Minor League Season - 2019

The minor league season has come to an end with both the Naturals and Storm Chasers clinching a spot in the postseason. The Stormchases finished the year 74-66. Taking the division by 12 games. The Naturals went 44-26 over the 2nd half to win the division by 8 games.

          Top Performers
          Spoiler

Our minor League players of the year have to go to Michael Gigliotti and Jake Kalish. Gigliotti only played in 6 games last year due to injuries after being taken in the 4th round in 2017. Jake Kalish was taken in the 32nd round back in 2015. Had been pretty good before but really took it to a whole different level this year.

The Naturals went on to win their first series before losing in the Texas League Championship. Brady Singer did his best to help going 13.1 IP over 2 starts with no runs allowed.

Omaha went on to win the AAA Championship thanks to none other than Terrance Gore who hit .444 with a 1.029 OPS in 9 games. And Trevor Oaks with 2 runs allowed in 18 innings.

I definitely didnt see Omaha winning a championship this year. With the rotation the Naturals had thought they would make it all the way. Obviously a lot can change between now and next April but I expect most of the big name guys in AA start there again with some moving up to AAA mid season. Melendez, Pratto and Matias should spend all season down there again.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

The Jays had a clear goal in their mind coming into the 2019 first year player draft, and they executed it perfectly. Looking to stack up on pitching prospects, our first 3 picks were all high ceiling starters. The trio we picked up of Manuel Herrera, Antonio Santana, and Giancarlo Guardado will immediately sit amongst our most promising pitching prospects. For Santana, a spring training invite will almost certainly be in order next year as the 19 year old is looking like the caliber of pitcher that can head straight to the bigs. His wiry 6'4 frame allows him to absolutely blast the ball into the strike zone, and the only real question regarding his future is if his arm will allow him to do so on a consistent basis or if he will eventually need to transition into a bullpen role to preserve it.

In other news, the Jays made their first trade of the season just a few days later, sending Aaron Sanchez to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for a struggling Kyle Schwarber. The 26 year old speedster Socrates Brito and minor league prospect Kevin Smith were sent to Chicago as well. An interesting trade that immediately drew some questions from Jays fans, as Schwarber was slashing a disappointing .174/.300/.328 at that time and had been seeing increasingly less playing time in Chicago. It's clear the Jays were looking to bring in Schwarber to try to fix the struggles he's been facing at the plate and help him realize his potential. Still, it was hard seeing Sanchez leave, considering he was one of the few players left from the Jays 2015-16 roster that made the ALCS in back to back years, but looking at it now it's hard to say the deal wasn't worth it.

Schwarber got off to a hot start, doubling and smacking a solo home-run in his Jays debut versus the Diamondbacks. That early momentum has continued on, and he has now hit a league leading 11 home runs over the last 3 weeks, and raised his batting average 20+ points to over .200. While I don't anticipate this form to continue all season, it still feels like all he needed was a change of scenery.

In other news a minor injury had this years biggest surprise Trent Thorton placed on the 10-day IL. While it was anticipated that veteran Clayton Richard would get the call from Buffalo to make the start, highly touted pitching prospect Nate Pearson was the replacement instead. After being promoted to AAA in May, Pearson put in a spectacular showing with a sub 1 ERA through multiple starts. He continued this form into his major league debut versus the Red Sox, which saw him strike out 4 of the first 6 batters he faced, and make it into the 5th inning before surrendering a hit. He ended the night going 5.1IP allowing 0 runs and only 5 men on base (3 via hits and 2 on walks.)

Currently we sit a few games under .500 and with Justin Smoak on pace for a career year and Marcus Stroman finding his groove, we're going to need to make a decision as to what our plans are sooner rather than later. We have a bit of a roadblock at the moment with Smoak, as he is holding down the 1B position which forces Tellez to DH and Hernandez to start in right field. Hernandez has been... well... himself, committing an ungodly amount of errors already this season. He's showing improvements at the plate however, with a slash line of .274/.315/.489, and will be first in line for the DH spot if Smoak goes.

Welp, 2025 is getting off to a rough start. Jarrod Feller got the opening day start and gave up a HR to the first batter. He did rebound and provided a quality start giving up 3 in 7 innings and having 9 K's. This was not enough as the bats were as cold as the March weather in Wrigley and the Cubs drop the opener 3-1 to the Brewers. Game 2 was much of the same story as we dropped a 2-0 decision to the Brewers and sit at 0-2 on the young season. It was kinda funny after the game it provided the Monthly recap for March....The .103 team batting average is something I don't think I ever recall seeing

Oh well, its good to have my 12th season kicked off.

In my Franchise, my Cubs Kris Bryant and the Dodgers Cody Bellinger basically trade off MVPs from season to season. Bellinger wasn't in my original roster set so I had to add him in when he burst on to the scene in real life. I'm glad I did because he is trending towards a HOF career in my little baseball universe. Bellinger has had two 50 homeruns seasons and just had a 48 HR 140+ RBI 2024 season.

Padres in, lost opener 5-3. Mustered 5 hits, doubles by Will and Kelsey, and 2 homers by Albies. Joel Benjamin struggles with the long ball, 3 homers two to Myers and one to Franmil Reyes. Long reliever Enoch Westover continues to be solid out of the pen, even tho his attributes aren’t that outstanding, 2.57 era.

Game two: what happens when your macular degeneration isn’t flaring up...........Atlanta crushes SD 23-0. My managerial contract extended for life.

22 hits, a hot Acuna 5-5. Mike Will had 3 doubles, Albies a triple. Acuna who has had a drought smacked three homers, Albies, Hougard and Markakis had one each. Toussaint went 6, struck out 8. Crockett worked 3 striking out 4.

Game 3 headline: Management says they were just joking about life time contract.

Fell 6-1. Teheran falls to 4-3, era 5.04.

And that’s a rap. Again, I will not be appearing with Mad Dog Russo.

Blue Jays 2020 Trade Deadline Action Report

The Blue Jays an odd move right at the deadline, trading away Travis D'Arnaud for prospects. On the surface it seems out of place for a team clearly earmarked for the playoffs to trade away a current MLB producer for future assets, but the Blue Jays were caught in an awkward situation, and this was just their way of making lemonade.

The Blue Jays caught the injury bug early in the season, with both their DH/OF Jarome Mauzoul and platoon 3B Tommy Reidling going down for significant stretches. At the time, it was decided that Kurt Williams would be one of the players to be called up. Williams has struggled during his tenure on the team, but he showed signs of improvement in spring, leading the Jays to decide to take a risk and keep him. He then became a star player down in Buffalo, practically carrying the team to an early winning record. Once called up, he continued with the hot bat, all while providing above average defense behind the plate.

When Reilding and Mauzoul returned, there was suddenly a situation. William's performance justified his staying on the team. His defense is a downgrade to D'Arnaud, but his bat is just to hot to ignore. The Jays also have options issues with most of their bench, including Williams. D'Arnaud could have been sent down, kept in the wings in case of further injury, but the Jays have another option that fits that bill in Jonathan Blanco, and it would be a wast to keep a guy on the final year of his contract (and likely not returning) down in the minors.

So instead the Blue Jays trade D'Arnaud and get tradable assets in return. It's better then getting nothing, and it puts the Blue Jays in a stronger position once the World Series is over to go after the top players picked in the 2020 draft. The Blue Jays have made no secret of the fact that they want to trade away many of their near ready pieces for younger and higher potential talent. They already have a young core established at the MLB level, and are looking for more sustainability over short term help. These pieces brought in for D'Arnaud will help insure these trades happen.

I think I mentioned this on this thread but each season I kinda assign a particular look for each team. For 2025, I've decided that I'm just gonna give each team one look for home and one look for the road and kinda tone it down of the multiple alternate jerseys. I'm gonna use the different Ball caps as a way to mix it up a bit. For example with my Cubs, the Block C will always be the primary cap but I also use the BP alt 2 cap with the angry 80's cubbie bear on (this is actually my favorite Cub Logo).

Also for 2025, I have a few stadium/team moves. The Miami Marlins are now the Florida Marlins again and will play in Pro Player Stadium. The Nationals are now gonna be the Montreal Expos and play in the newly vacated Miami stadium. This stadium with its newly blue motif fits a would be new Montreal team especially with the roof closed (well, if you can ignore the fish...I can). With that said here are my NL uniform assignments for 2025:
