I made a small edit to my post above because honestly this mode would be perfect for me if you could use custom sliders and rosters (with the minor league teams and players), as well as go multiple seasons. It is pretty much what I do in a franchise because I don’t have time to play every game.

That’s why, for me personally, if it were an option within franchise mode it would be perfect. But I can certainly see the appeal.

Does it use the Live Rosters set?

So if the new rosters would come out it would use the newest one or is it just a specific roster it uses?

Also what rewards does this mode give out as I don't play DD.

I read or heard on one of the pre-release vids or blogs that when the opening day rosters release they will be locked to those. THat said I may have heard wrong or am imagining thnings.

Yeah I can imagine that. It was called Ninja Gaiden on the NES. When you died you started from the very beginning.

When I finally beat the game in one sitting (no saves back then kiddies) it was one of the best video game accomplishments I ever had.

Bunch of whiny entitled brats.

Can I dislike a post? I don't remember you ever being that insulting and condescending before.

I am not looking for a guaranteed win by a long shot, but I also don't want to see my 12 hours of play flushed down the toilet because of a bad game in the playoffs or World Series. Even the loser of the real life WS gets a cut of the revenue.

Instead of being all or nothing by giving 20 points for winning the mode, how about 5 for making playoffs, 5 for making the series and 10 for winning it all. The net effect is the same for those who win but it is less punitive to those who fall just short. And you still have to win it to get the added points for the different difficulties.

They won't lose more than they will gain with this mode. It play tested higher than any mode they had ever, and while purely anecdotal I was not going to purchase this year and this mode sold me on the game.

I'm loving it and glad they added it, and pretty much all of the OS Twitter crew is in the same boat, so I believe you're underestimating it's impact.

I also find it ridiculous that someone would complain about them adding new modes and ways to play. More of the same shenanigans from the Get off My Lawn crew that have ruined these forums.

That wouldn’t be the case if they’d finally given franchise mode some attention but they didn’t. More features is a good thing but in their own words, this was effectively at the expense of improving franchise mode.

To be fair though, this concept was being implemented into franchise mode. It just became bigger and more in depth, than I guess they anticipated, and decided to make it a standalone mode.

So they were looking to improve franchise with this idea/concept, just decided as they were building it that it worked better as a standalone mode.

Interesting...they did say in their pre-release Twitch streams that the rosters would be locked in a close to Opening Day as possible, but they wouldn't be updated throughout the year (at least that was how I understood it). So perhaps a Opening Day update will happen and that will be that. I would assume the "updated" roster would only be for new MtOs that would be started after the roster update is added.

How would this be possible? You can’t load d a custom roster.. so it would have to be a patch that changes the default roster. an update roster you gotta load it in. Therefore if they do this you can load any roster.

Also m2o must be terrible seeing Acuna getting rookie of the year everytine someone plays it seeing they screwed him up giving him zero service time. Enjoy seeing someone who’s not a rookie win it every year along with guriiel jr blue jays who they also screwed up service time l.

I'm hoping SDS will just patch this game mode at some point and add an "offline" option to it.

Want to tweak sliders / use custom rosters / call up prospects? Go nuts, just know there'll be no DD rewards.

For next year, hopefully they'll integrate it a bit more with franchise. I mean, some of MtO's mechanics are already there anyway with the "key moments".

This is the reality for it from a purely DD stand point. You are all or nothing playing 15 hours to either get maybe 30 team affinity points. If you fail, you get nothing. Conversely, I can get 25 team affinity points by just trading in 90k points worth of players, which would cost something like 5,000 stubs to buy.

So they've limited the mode in order to link it so heavily with DD, but in reality it's a hugely ineffective thing to do for DD. So I don't see the rewards pushing anyone to do this, so that kind of defeats the point of limiting the mode so much just to make that DD link.

They needed to have more faith in the mode and not try so hard to attach it to DD.

I think they were trying to find a way of hooking DD into franchise mode, realised that would be difficult or unpopular and decided to spin this out to its own mode. I still think they should have added new features to franchise mode because they’ve given us plenty of ways to accelerate through as much or as little of the season as you want anyway. I gave them credit already for perhaps having the right motive but obviously without any DD tie-in, nothing was going to happen to franchise mode hence we got this.

I know people don’t believe this but SDS’s mentality towards franchise hasn’t turned to “**** franchise and the diehards that play it”

There are reasons why some the things people want in franchise haven’t been added yet, but no one wants to accept those reasons and choose to let a frustrated opinion replace fact.

It desperately needs at least one roster update. I can't deal with all the spring training non roster invites who were cut and even released from my team who are playing meaningful games in my March To October.
