Re: MLB '19 Framerate drops/sutters help and discussion thread
For whatever it’s worth I tweeted a bunch of devs at SDS this morning asking if they were aware of the issue. One did respond with “yes. Our graphics engineers are investigating the issue.”

Re: MLB '19 Framerate drops/sutters help and discussion thread
Personally, I've been struggling with some stuttering. Now, the ones in the field, while unappealing, don't annoy me much (I use auto fielding). Now, hitting though....it's driven me crazy in some ballparks. It finally dawned on me to change from my beloved retro camera. There is such a diversity in the cameras people use, it seems reasonable that this could help explain the variance in observations.
So, I used some of the more zoomed-out camera angles (fish eye, wide) and perception-wise, it is MUCH better. I'm not sure if the more zoomed-out view is putting the crowd farther away (so less details render, thus improving the rate) or if the angle is smoothing-out the perception of the pitch coming to the hitter.
Either way, if you can tolerate a camera change and are having issues with stuttering while hitting, this may help. Of course, YMMV.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Re: MLB '19 Framerate drops/sutters help and discussion thread
We're not talking about at a problem ballpark, though; we all know it doesn't occur in this. I'm talking Spring Training stadium, or what have you. I'm also talking about in-game. I just need to show you that over the course of one second it achieves sixty frames, yes? I could show more than that (and my videos do), but I don't want to be editing for that long.
Why was my post where I quoted you about this already outright ignored? Why are my posts being dismissed about these things? I'm showing video evidence, on both sides of the fence here (where the game achieves 60 FPS, and where it doesn't). Why aren't you backing this up with anything, other than: "Let's see what Digital Foundry has to say about it?"
And keep in mind one more time: 60 FPS is really 59.94 FPS. That means that 60000 frames are drawn in 1001 seconds (60000/1001 = 59.94005994005994005994... and it keeps repeating). So over the course of like fifteen minutes of playing, assuming nothing was loaded in between, there would be a single frame hitch in everything else that is drawn 60 times per second.
What will I have to do to show this for you?Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Why don't you give me the $100, and have me do it for you? I've already shown you through the videos, but I'll detail it if you'd like. I won't have the waveform thing on the bottom of the screen.

In MLB stadiums in the game there is no way the game is 60fps locked during gameplay at all times. Can it reach that in cases and many cases yes? but is not locked and it has dips in gameplay that were not there last year
Balanced which should be the most used version is terrible and lets not get started on SharperComment

2) I haven't finished my stadium tour yet, so we don't actually know which stadiums have issues and which ones do not. Chase Field, for example, takes a few seconds before witnessing a single hitch in the pitcher-batter interaction. Many times, that will not occur during the pitch. This means you'll be fortunate to get your 60 FPS mid-pitch as you so desire. Other times you'll get a single hitch, and if you didn't know better you might not even notice it at all. I'm sure others would definitely feel that way.

No, "let's" get started on Sharper, actually! For one, I believe it was you who made a claim about its framerate, yes? I think you said that it doesn't come close to hitting 30 FPS? I've made no such claims about whether it does or not, as I only spoke in hypothetical terms for the sake of argument. What do you think it is though, however? I will gladly measure it for you, no DF needed.
Also, I don't expect Balanced and Sharper to have the same framerate concerns that Faster does. Obviously they are lower framerates, but I expect them to be able to lock on those framerates much more handily than that of Faster. Not only that, but as I've mentioned before: a frame hitch at near 60 FPS will be significantly more noticeable than a frame hitch at 30 FPS.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: MLB '19 Framerate drops/sutters help and discussion thread
What I don’t get is why online every game when I’m batting when my opponent fields balls in the outfield especially running full speed the frame rate is slow and it’s so stuttering! When I’m on defense and I field balls I don’t see the frame rate issue hardly. I play wired and on balanced, sometimes fast. Anyone else notice this who plays online?Comment

Re: MLB '19 Framerate drops/sutters help and discussion thread
Do you even know what my tests consist of? You might want to go back and look at my actual experiment. It's not "naked eye," it's actual numbers. I am doing it by hand, but these aren't wild guesses. I can look at any frame I'd like at any time, and maneuver to my choosing. There is no guesswork, here.
1) No ****, that's why this thread exists. I assumed your intimation was that this game never had achieved 60 FPS status in any which way, including HFR mode in 17 and Faster mode in 18.

There is no "most used version" when it comes to the PS4 Pro. It's all preference-based. Yes, that is the default version. I think that will probably be the stablest of them all, but I'm not sure because I don't play on Balanced. "Most used," puh!

Faster is not locked 60fps and this is during gameplay and not just batter hitter interface. That is fine, my issue is ball in play the game has fps drops in Faster Mode and you also get terrible blurry graphics with zero AA on player models
last year to ME the faster mode was excellent all around.
But I never play on faster because I prefer the default balance which you are still getting so so graphics and should get good solid FPS
Sharper is called 4k but that is not native 4k. And the FPS is downright brutal there.
I have some issues with batter and pitcher interface but the bulk of the issues is when ball is in playComment

I haven't done any framerate tests on "ball in play" framerates, but you must know that I have continually mentioned in my posts that the dynamic camera suffers terribly from it (trust me, I have said this continually) and Retro camera is a viable option. Sometimes there are a couple of stutters right off contact, but it is not detrimental to the gameplay experience whatsoever.
I have not done any tests on that, though. I have made no other kinds of claims on that whatsoever. I'm working from the bottom, up.

And what might you think Sharper's framerate is, then? I'm setting the bar at 30 FPS (29.97, save a hitch or two). Do you think it's equal to, or under?

Re: MLB '19 Framerate drops/sutters help and discussion thread
Retro mode would stutter a lot when ball would be hit down the lines. I went back to 18 and it was buttery smooth. If the patch 19 I’ll buy it, but rn gonna wait for patch.

This may be a dumb question but would an external hard have any effect on the frame rate?

Re: MLB '19 Framerate drops/sutters help and discussion thread
Neither of those things should matter, unless your external drive is really old and slow, but even then it should theoretically only affect loading times.
Digital vs Blu-ray doesn’t make a difference since the game fully installs to your hard drive anyway.Comment

Re: MLB '19 Framerate drops/sutters help and discussion thread
I play a Royals franchise...Kauffman stadium in my opinion runs so smooth...started a 4 game series with the Yankees and found Yankee stadium to be almost unplayable with the frame rate...I haven’t noticed it this bad anywhere but it really killed the mood of playing there...unacceptable imoComment
