This is not true. As Smallville said, there are few triple A sports games in general. For a while NBA Live fell off the map and it was just 2K. It has more to do with the cost of production and licensing fees I think. If you go to any Baseball game you’ll see kids of all ages. Kids still love Baseball.
I also think for game developers, dropping the money for production and licensing is probably too risky to take on an established franchise. I’d imagine that creating a sports game in this day and age is incredibly complex. You’d have to have top artists and game engineers to create something that would compete with The Show. It would have to be a major project.
The only way I see this happening is if Microsoft formed a team to make a new MLB game. But i just can’t see a competing MLB game on the PS4.
And BTW. You can thank Microsoft for the death of competing MLB games. With their purchase of exclusive 3rd party MLB rights, it killed MVP (MLB) Baseball. If this didn’t happen MVP might still be alive today and evolved with The Show. We’d have two beasts of MLB games.
