Thanks for the reminder. I had forgotten about this method.

I was something like 2-for-10 on SBs. Then I saw your post and went back to doing that. I think I've stolen six or seven in a row since then.

I know this seems like a simple thing to do but you should always check out the arm strength and accuracy of the catcher. I always do before I start sending my guy. I also go by the pitch count and what the pitcher is throwing. One more thing, I always slide to the outside of the bag. There are games I get 1 or 2, the most I got was I think 4 or 5 against Jeff Mathis and the Rangers. His arm strength is 59.

For sure. Im not sure what it is about this method but it works. Like they get a better jump or something. I highly recommend others to try this. I am at an 83% success rate in my current franchise. I know it will fade back into the MLB average 70's range eventually. It has worked great in other franchises. A lot of my SB's are with guys with ratings in the 60's or some even lower. I don't just run wild, i pick my spots, but it's great for me to get realistic SB numbers.

Re: Has Anyone Had Success Stealing Bases?

Thru April I sit in the Top 12 in stolen bases. Bader has 10 and Fabregas has 9.

What I do is I cue the steal (press L2) when the pitcher/batter screen comes back up. Then I'll watch the pitcher and try to time a jump by pressing L1. Sometimes I get a good jump, sometimes I don't, and sometimes I get picked off.

I've been using this method for years and its worked pretty well. I even have steals with slow footed players such as Jon Singleton and Carson Kelly.

I'm going to try this. I am used to clicking L1 for the lead and then holding L2. Last night my 94 speed player got thrown out twice and they weren't even close. I even try to slide to the outside of the bag.

you had me scratching my head here for a second, knowing you are a Cards fan and mention Carson Kelly, I'm like "did you re-trade for him??" then I realized, year to year save. So with that being said, did you trade for Goldy at all? and out of curiosity, how long have you kept the year to year save going and what who is all in your line-up?

No...I didn't trade for Goldy. I have Jon Singleton playing first base. Traded for him last season after Matt Carpenter went down with an injury that kept him out the rest of the season.

This works great for me. I was having trouble as well until I found this nugget. Now I can swipe bases and feel like I have a shot. Works out well.

Awesome! It has consistently given me good yet realistic stealing %. Not too much and not too little. Glad it helped!

Re: Has Anyone Had Success Stealing Bases?

The best way to steal bases, is to press L2 before the wind up of the pitcher, and then hold L1, release L1 when then the pitcher is in the middle of his wind up. You get a better jump on the steal. A player stealing ability determines the jump he gets when releasing L1. Best method.

Re: Has Anyone Had Success Stealing Bases?

Honestly I am 28/30 so far this year in my dynasty. I only hit L2 once to load the steal and nothing else. I think the biggest thing is to run on the right count in my opinion.

Plus I keep throwing the CPU out. I considered lowering the steal success rate slider but I am already stopping the CPU right and left with a middle of the road catcher with a decent arm.

All I know at this point is that Cameron Maybin is 3 for 13 for me on steals this season. I know he’s not exactly Billy Hamilton but 3 for 13 is just silly. Can I get 8 for 13? 7? 6? I mean come on. Makes me pretty much just not want to attempt steals anymore.
