Re: Mlb the show´s progress concerns me
I'm not going down the assumption = justification rabbit hole.
I'm out.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Mlb the show´s progress concerns me
So we are both making assumptions. Me - that like every business, they are trying to maximize profits. And you, that they would sacrifice profit to make the game they love, and they surely would tell us if it was about money.... Both fall into "assumption = justification".
We can leave it up to each individual to decide which is a more realistic assumption.

Re: Mlb the show´s progress concerns me
I have to admit, seeing the same thing with franchise year after year, and the bugs that are associated with it are disheartening.
I'm a huge fan of this game, and I do think it is a fair assumption that the higher ups are prioritizing way more with revenue generating modes than franchise mode.

Re: Mlb the show´s progress concerns me
I just wish SDS would just come out and say they have not updated franchise because of #2 and #3. Some people would be upset but who cares. There would never need to be another thread like this. Just say rather than re-write the code for a console that will be replaced in 2-3 years we will have an updated franchise with the release of PS5. Done deal.Comment

Re: Mlb the show´s progress concerns me
To be perfectly honest, making the perfect loaf of bread or make of car is a designer and manufacturers dream, but making the 'perfect' video sports game.... is the end of the line, for an Sports game designer.
Every year the Show improves just enough for the faithful to purchase, but also contains enough flaws to install a vision, that the next years release will be better and also bring the customer back. It's a fine line for any design team.
They want enough people to buy the product, but will never make the perfect product that no-one ever needs to replace in 12 months time.
That would be financial......and business.......suicideComment

Re: Mlb the show´s progress concerns me
Don't mean to cross the streams but this is going on at the madden site
https://forums.operationsports.com/f...r-youtube.html
I've not gone through the interview/counter-interview in depth but went through some of the post commentaries by Maddeners (Maddenites?). And not saying SDS is in the same boat as EA but it may provide some insight to folks here about how developers may view their work when the wishes of a community or their own ambitions for a game meet with executive management that may not share those ambitions.
I don't think the issues the Show community brings up are that much different than those brought up at the other sites. Each game has pros and cons for a franchise, UT, or other type player, each development team has their own hurdles they need to clear and each management team has their set of goals. I truly don't think these are that unique to a game though some games do certain things better than others, and those same games have their own problems too.Comment

Re: Mlb the show´s progress concerns me
I agree with everything said above. I do wonder though how many times SDS can read "the only sports game without, expansion, relocation or create a stadium" in every review before they finally decide to change that.
IMO Madden was the other game who's franchise mode was sorely lacking features like The Show's. But with the Madden team saying they are re-focusing on franchise mode going forward it may leave The Show in the dust. The question then becomes does SDS re-focus on the mode themselves or remove it to focus more on those who post opening card packs on you tube?
What bugs me is the constant lip service we get every year about how "we do care about franchise", when they clearly do not.Comment

Re: Mlb the show´s progress concerns me
in My opinion These are Not Only license problems...
I mean how many games we had to wait until they get jersey colors right. Red tones for example... Phillie's angels etc red tones were wrong for years... Finally they got the teams almost right but it took years... Also now socks were wrong and why the hell the grass tones of angels and dodgers ballparks are so ugly...
These are things which could be changed easily in my opinions but it took many years and this is something i can't not understand. Also why they give us so less edit possibilities.
I really think another game would help so you have a competition but I know it will not happen.
But I wish they would develop like in the beginning of the show !Comment

I feel like online is basically what killed Franchise (so to speak). If the game was single player only you’d be willing to bet your paycheck that Franchise would be getting all the attention and improvements.Comment
